Re: Official Rate My Trade Thread

Ok tell me what you think about this trade. I haven't performed it yet, because I'd like some feedback first, just to make sure I am not being an idiot. BTW this is in my 30 team association (see sig), which is in it's 2nd year. So everybody is a year older and teams are different.

Phoenix receives: Chris Duhon (EC), Jared Jeffries (EC)

    New York receives: Steve Nash

Why Phoenix would do it: For one, they've lost 22 straight games. Nope, that's not a misprint. 22 straight games. They're in dead last at the All-Star break with only 10 wins. So obviously this team isn't going anywhere. Nash has a 2 yr./ 20 mil. contract, but Phoenix most likely won't be a winner in that timespan, so he isn't in the Suns' future. The Suns get two EC's for Nash, so they get a lot of cap flexibility for the 2011 free agent class, which is starting to look like it could be good.

(By the way the Suns do not have Amare)

Why New York would do it: The Knicks currently are in 5th place in the East. With Chris Bosh, David Lee, and Tracy McGrady this team has all the talent in the world. Still they need one more piece to the puzzle, a point guard. Kemba Walker and Chris Duhon most likely won't get it done in the playoffs. So how bout a two-time MVP in Steve Nash? Nash has played for D'Antoni before, and remember he was close to leaving for New York this offseason IRL. Also I would think it would be a nice parting gift for the Suns to send him to a contender so he has a chance at a ring before he retires.

    What do you guys think?

Also I need some advice for Chicago. This team is pretty stacked yet they are in 14th place in the Eastern Conference. This is their lineup.

    C Joakim Noah (EC)
PF Carlos Boozer, signed to a big 5 year deal
SF Luol Deng, just signed a big 4 year deal
    SG John Salmons (EC)
PG Derrick Rose, only 1 year left with a 2 yr. team option
    ------
PG Kirk Hinrich, 2 year contract
SF Evan Turner, 2 yrs. with 2 yr. team
    PF James Johnson (EC)
    PF Taj Gibson (EC)

Any ideas on who to move? I would move Deng but his contract is pretty big (4 yr./ 51 mil.), and he just signed it. I am obviously not gonna move Boozer or Rose, but Salmons and Noah are possible options. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I found that this trade works, but I am not too sure if it makes all that much sense.

Chicago recieves: Josh Howard (3 yr/$18), Matt Carrol (2yr/$3), and '11 first round pick

    Dallas receives: Luol Deng (4yr/$51)

Dallas is in 1st place and Deng is a small upgrade than Howard, plus Howard is a trouble maker. Chicago gets rid of Deng's contract which is pretty bad. Still Howard is a small down grade and since he has 3 years left I'm not if this is a good trade. Plus Matt Carroll has a bad contract. The 2011 first round draft pick won't be too good since Dallas is in 1st in the West.

I'm thinking about doing this trade:

      T'Wolves Receive:
      Andris Biedrins
      Corey Maggette

      Warriors Receive:
      Al Jefferson

      What do you guys think?
      Atlanta Braves
      Atlanta Falcons
      Chicago Bulls
Born and Raised a Florida Gator
      Taylor Gang or Die!

In 2K life, that deal is pretty good for Minnesota -- Biedrins is a much better fit at center next to Love and Maggette can be the balls-out scorer they've needed for some time. GSW obviously sheds two contracts they can't be too happy with so in this game I think both teams win although Minnesota gets more talent overall in the trade.

In real life, Minnesota definitely wouldn't touch Maggette's contract and Biedrins has seemed very injury prone over the past few years. Not sure they'd pull the trigger on this trade though they might sleep on it before saying no. GSW loves the deal but Nelson would bench Baby Al after three games because he can't shoot the three and is taller than 6'7".

I think those are both pretty reasonable trades. If PHX is truely that far out of the playoffs, they'd trade Nash as a favor to him and as thanks for what he's done for the franchise. I'd say the Knicks should be giving up a first rounder in that trade though, considering what a huge upgrade Nash is and the fact that it won't be a great pick anyway. Just my two cents there.

And the DAL/CHI trade is good too.

            Year 2:
            OKC (Me) gets:
            Anthony Randolph (from GS)
            Marcus Banks (from TOR)
            2011 2nd rounder (from TOR)

            GS gets:
            Heido Turkoglu (from TOR)
            Thabo Sefolosha (from OKC)
            2011 1st rounder (from OKC)
            Nenad Krstic (from OKC)

            TOR gets:
            Corey Maggette (from GS)
            Kyle Weaver (from OKC)
            Elliot Williams (from OKC)

I had signed Tyrus Thomas in the offseason, I'm putting Randolph at center.

            C-Randolph
            F-Thomas
            F-Green
            G-Durant
            G-Westbrook
            -------------------
            6-Harden
            7-Collison
            8-Ibaka
            9-Maynor
            10-Udoh
            11-Banks
12-Darius Miles (haha, you read that right!)

Golden State wins big in my opinion. Toronto also gets an upgrade at the 3 position, and I get the rebounds and blocks I want/need.

okay man thanks. I guess adding a 1st isn't a bad idea since it really isn't that good of a pick anyway considering there in 5th place in the East and will now be getting a top point guard.

OKC essentially gives up a first rounder (and Thabo) and gets Anthony Randolph... i love it... OKC will be STACKED cause randolph is an absolute beast with him and durant and westbrook and harden and green... wow... if you can keep all of them sign them all to long term contracts and terrorize the league for a 90's bulls run...

also to rayallen- i liked you're first trade but i don't like the deng/howard trade- i don't think its unfair just think its kinda pointless and i don't think either team would shake up their chemistry to make a deal like that IMO

Any thoughts this ( possible ) moves?

                  I am OKC

Just for fun I placed Russell Westrbook on the block and these are some of the offers I got.

                  OJ Mayo
                  Iggy
                  Granger
                  Agent 0

The only two I even considered are Iggy and OJ, would either of these deals NEVER happen in real life and should I take the OJ deal and play him at point?

If I did, I'd run this lineup.

                  OJ Mayo
                  Thabo Sefolosha
                  Kevin Durant
                  Jeff Green
                  Nenad Kristic

Off the bench, I use Harden, Etan Thomas, and Nick Collinson, with a small dose of Livingston.
                  Go Vols!
                  Go Titans!
                  Go Braves!

I wouldn't trade Westbrook for any of those guys... honestly, there's probably only like 5 PGs I'd even consider trading him for and maybe 20-25 guys in the whole league... and you weren't offered any of them.

I completly agree PG is a difficult position to fill and at the start there are few who are better than westbrook and in the long run maybe only 2 or 3.

In real life, Minnesota definitely wouldn't touch Maggette's contract and Biedrins has seemed very injury prone over the past few years. Not sure they'd pull the trigger on this trade though they might sleep on it before saying no. GSW loves the deal but Nelson would bench Baby Al after three games because he can't shoot the three and is taller than 6'7".[/quote]

Brutally bad trade for Boston... they give away the two best players AND a first for Aldridge and an expiring backup? Aldridge always plays poorly when I'm against Portland so I'd strongly veto that trade from Boston's standpoint. They don't really get better, nor do they begin rebuilding since Aldridge and KG are such a wash in this game.
