A Coaching Carousel would do wonders.

Following College Hoops 2k8, the ability to manually edit and save Coaches and their coordinators like College Hoops and have them go through an annual "coaching carousel" would be incredible in this series.

Also being able to set a specific offense for a specific coach. So you edit the "MICHIGAN COACH" to be "Rich Rodriguez" and you set his offensive style to "Shotgun Spread" with a run heavy orientation.

Then say, Rodriguez leaves and goes to Ole Miss...they would switch their offense automatically.

Or...edit Auburn's Offensive Coordinator to be "Gus Malzahn" and set his own particular style. Then he gets a job offer and leaves Auburn to go to Texas A&M and takes his offensive style with him.

Another aspect would be if you lost your OC or DC, there could be a higher potential for players to transfer, etc.

Those who play the Hoops 2k8 series know what I'm talking about. Excellent feature that almost no other sports game can match.

It would be great, but the development team would have to finally reprogram the CPU recruiting engine so that team would actually recruit to their play style instead of just basically looking at stars ratings and position needs. The Carousel feature would be greatly diminished if they leave the recruiting "broken" like it has been since forever.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

This would give the game so much replay value. I am drooling just imagining the possibilities of a 2K8 style coaching carousel.

They should of had it in already. Hope they do in NCAA 11. Won't it be fun to have the Navy OC take his run heavy offense to Texas Tech? The possibilites would be endless.
        My Teams:

        NBA-Portland Trail Blazers
        NFL-Carolina Panthers
        MLB-San Francisco Giants
        NHL-Los Angeles Kings
Won't change this signature until Oregon wins a national championship (started 3/10/10)

I LOVE the idea Aub, but I need to play devil's advocate here for a second. Let's take your example and say Gus Malzon leaves Auburn to head to Texas A&M. Auburn then hires Mike Leech to be the Offensive Coordinator (not realistic but a good extreme example). What does the offense do? Is the Offense tied to the Head Coach or the Offensive Coordinator? For schools like Florida and Auburn the answer to this question would be completely different. Not sure how to differentiate.

I was thinking about that as well when people first suggested the feature a while back. I think easiest option would be letting the OC decide the offense if the HC is defensive minded. The other option could be having coaches decline to work on your staff if there is a huge difference in coaching philosophies; ie Paul Johnson trying to hire Mike Leach as an OC.

I'd say let the head coach decide the play style for the team. If an OC is hired as a head coach for a new team, then his play style is used. However, if that same OC is hired by a team as an OC still, then the head coach still has the decision. The OC can still retain his style for when he becomes a head coach and maybe he still affects player ratings depending on his strengths.

anybody have gamebreaker '00 for the psx? they had a career mode where you could start as a hc at a bad/average mid-major, a dc/oc at a good mid-major or bad/average bcs school, or a st coach at an elite school. you recruited based on your job title- st coach recruited kickers and punters, dc recruited defense, oc recruited offense, and hc recruited everything. if your team did well, you got better job offers; if not, you could get fired, or you could stay where you were. gamebreaker was an average game, but this feature was done very well. kinda sad that a game a decade ago had this feature, but a decade and 2 platform generations later, we're still waiting on ea to add this type of feature.

the Coaching Carousel is one of the main reasons why I enjoy College Hoops 2k8. I'm not a big Basketball fan at all, but Legacy mode is really fun.

For me, this the most needed feature for NCAA's dynasty mode. And, it's not even close.

I was excited to see this on a list of possible features, and I don't think it would be that hard to implement. I love the coaching carousel in College Hoops, as well as Head Coach.

this. just have it where you're able to designate the coaches (hc and coords) as offensive or defensive. if hc is off, then hc, if hc is def, then oc.

                              same with base d.

also, i love the idea of coaches gravitating to similar playing styles.

one more thing to add, and this is a must if they do a coach carousel, make sure that coaches wont downgrade their job status, unless fired.

i remember in the first nfl hc, you could hire other hc's to be oc and dc. this CANNOT happen.

and while i'm at it, can they be progressive (and regressive), please?
