I play 10 games per month. And make sure I use each pitcher in the rotation twice. That's 60 games, not including the 3 or so games you can play in October. If I'm in a playoff run by August/September I'll play more games, but if not then def stick to the 10 games per month. -
Re: how to play 162 game season?
You only have to play about 14 games a month to play the entire 162 game season before the next version comes out, that's definitely do-able. I usually just mix in other sports games and just pick at my season here and there. I started a Pirates season last summer, and now I'm 93 games in.Currently playing:
MLB 21 The Show
College Hoops 2K8
Pro Evolution Soccer 2018
NHL 19
NCAA Football 14/11
NBA 2K16
Madden 20Comment

Re: how to play 162 game season?
Try hitting and not pitching or vice versa. Just fast forward through the half innings of the part of the game you don't want to play.
Other option: Fast forward to the 7th inning and play if your team is behind, sim to end if you're ahead. It's an edge of the seat way to play the season. And it's fast paced.Comment

Re: how to play 162 game season?
when i play, i play as long as it takes to get the lead. Both batting and pitching, but once i get the lead (IF) i get the lead i stop batting and pitch only. Sometimes games take an hour, sometimes i only bat for 1 inning and they take 15-20 minutes.Comment

Re: how to play 162 game season?
When I had a little more time (in high school/college) I would play the first game of every 3 game series, first and last game of every 4 game series, and both games of every 2 game series..
Now that I have less free time for this stuff, I just play the first game of every series. And if I see a pitching matchup I really want to play, I ad that game to the mix.Comment

Re: how to play 162 game season?
I can't sim a game ever it drives me nuts. I haven't played a 162 game season because of this since 2005 ( the year I was married)
Gaming hard since 1988
I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.Comment

Re: how to play 162 game season?
i play just about all divisional games....Sim ALL inter-league games (mainly due to the fact i HATE inter-League play) and usually sim half of Non-divison games. Ends up being about 70-80 games actually played. Sometimes its less/more.
I usually sim the last 2-3 weeks of september unless i am in a close race for a playoff spot.Comment

I got through a handful of 162 game season before, but that was with a roommate. Someone on here a while back posted the idea of playing every 6th game which will cycle you through the rotation. That sounds like a good idea to me.Comment

Re: how to play 162 game season?
Back when I was a young fellow, watching baseball on TV was sort of a treat, because in those days not every game was on. In fact, home games were only televised 10 or 12 times a year - heck, maybe less. So if I were to do something like this, I'd do it like that: only play the games that would have been televised back then. Probably would look something like this:
60-65 games total.
At least 70% of those, road games (in context: you get to play in different stadiums a lot).
Lots of Friday, Saturday & Sunday games (in context: good balance of day & night games).Last edited by NEOPARADIGM; 04-06-2010, 05:55 PM.Comment

Re: how to play 162 game season?
I think I'm going to do the method of playing one game in full -- then for the next 5 games just play from the 8th inning on. That way I get to play a full game with each starter but still get to see each ballpark and feel like I'm making the most crucial managerial decisions.
I tried sportscast manager for 5 games but started to get ghost images on my plasma. Maybe next year there will be a manage only - one pitch mode or some other way to manage a game quickly.Comment

That does sound like a good idea, I'm going to that a try. I was playing 29 game seasons but it doesn't feel right.Comment
