    MO- Cap and Movement..

After watching the new locomotion video I got to thinking. (I will withhold my final judgement until the game is released) There are way to few running styles in the game. Right now players who are under 200 pounds have one animation for running, players over 200 have another running animation, and the lineman have the other. They might have some more but I can't tell. In my opinion I think they should (on the edit player screen) have signature styles similar to the way NBA 2K10 has it. This way you could have different jukes, spins, gaits(how they look when they run), cuts, passing animations (how the drop back, fake the hand off, pull the ball down to run, pump fake, throwing motion, etc), and etc.

I won't talk about the jukes and spins (I think there should be a bunch of different captures of this) but I will talk about how they run, and passing animations.

So the running styles that you could choose from would be.

    RB
Small & fast scatback --- Like Demps and Rainey
Big Runningback --- Toby Gerhart, Dwyer
Fullback (big runningback would be smoother and more natural)
Average (in between scatback and big back) -- Hardesty

    WR
Tall & Quick --- Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson
Tall & Build up Speed --- Sidney Rice
Tall & Big --- Demaryius Thomas
    Average Sized reciever

    TE
Big Athletic -- Antonio Gates, Jared Cook
    Rumbler -- Alge Crumpler

    OL/DL
    Big and can't move
    Can move well

    CB
    Super Athletic

You can give any player any running style, so LBs and DBs would just be the same as RBs, and WRs. But all of these should look different when they run.

With the quarterbacks (everyplayer has QB animations)

    Throwing Motion (self explanitory)

Movement (Drop back, handoff, roll out, pull ball down to run, evade the rush, etc)

Big Tall Pocket passer -- Ryan Mallet
Athletic but not RB/WR athletic -- stephen Garcia
Scramble --- Mike Vick, Pat White
Never played QB before -- most of the other positions would get this.

I'm new here so be easy on me, and thanks for reading.

Also.. after watching the video, get some athletes to do the motion capture. Get one player to do the capture for each running style ex.. bring demps in (after he graduates) to do the scatback animations, and get gerhart in to do the big back.

Ya I do no understand how those fat guys become mo-cap guys, they run and look nothing like athletes. However I question a lot of things EA does, probably because the products never improve.

I also tore my ACL and blew out my meniscus junior year... disappointment. But I do agree we should have at the least 2nd year players or at least someone athletic doing the Mo-cap.

Cant they just ask some guys from the local Junior College to do the Mo-Cap.Atleast they look probably more athletic then the King of Queens look-alikes.

Drop $5 and pickup a copy of APF2K8 and you'll get a good idea of what they are gunning for in the game. Or just download the demo and get a feel for the game. If you can, set the speed to fast though as it's a quite a bit slower by default than Madden and especially NCAA which I don't believe had a speed slider in 2010 version (I didn't find it anyhow if it's there).

I have and love APF, but i think that every player in real life looks different when they run.. obviously this would be impossible to do in a video game, but I think having a ton of different running animations would go a long way in giving the game a more organic feel.

I do agree there should be A-lot more individual animation sets....As of now, from what i can tell, there are 2 sets....1 for every single player who is NOT an OL/DL/LB and then the animation set for OL/DL/LB.

                          A 240 lb RB/FB runs,moves and feels just like a 175lb scatback...

Hopefully locomotion will REALLY make a differance.

I hope this locomotion has true momentum and not just a false momentum that forces cuts and leaning when turning. True momentum would really make a diference for RBs. I've always been a Christian Okoye, John Riggins type guy, but in NCAA/ Madden, those guys are almost useless. A RB like Chris Johnson is the better choice in these games than a power back. But if they get momentum down and get a good fatigue system, I could see myself being able to enjoy using that bigger back.

                              John Riggins is awesome.

I too like powerbacks more than the speedbacks, I wish there was more of them that you could recruit though. The running backs listed as "power" were not really powerbacks at all in last years game. They were like 5'11'' 190lb running backs that could not break any tackles. I hope they include actual powerbacks to recruit in this years game.
