The ball is huge. Not a new problem, not a big problem, just always bothers me.

Most recently, look at " Wide Open Gameplay". It was heralded as a major innovation until we played it and realized it should have been called " Wide open Defense" . They tried to address the problem of recievers getting YAC's by effectively slowing the defense way down so it had no time to react. What started out as a postive turned out to be a huge negative.

What we do know is that the defense is watered down in many aspects in both NCAA and Madden titles. Just imagine a high acceleration WR or TE burning you on each and every play because the defensive AI doesnt adjust. All passes on crossing patterns are an automatic completion as it is now, so wouldnt this just make it worse?

Lets look at the blocking for a minute. The offensive line has zero logic when it comes to blocking as it is now, creating a greater speed / accel disparity between players can compound this problem greatly. If you have a high accel back, chances are it will be very easy to out run your blocks the moment the ball is handed off, resulting in ever worse blocking logic than we have now. You would have 2 choices...stand still when you get the ball, or take off...either way, resulting in no blocking once again.

Locomotion sounds like a great concept at first, but its going to have to rely on many other aspects of the game improving at the same time.

Vids and graphics are nice, but I am "very" skeptical that they can pull this off without some huge gamebreaking issues creaping up. Murphys Law states that anything that can go wrong, probably will and Im very nervous about what all aspects of the game this will break, instead of fix.
While I understand your skepticism, be easy, bruh. It's JUST a videogame that EA is trying to make better in the alloted time they have, year to year. Having an initial negative attitude about the game is what kills the enjoyment of it just like going in with a positive attitude can provide enjoyment. It's not like EA is putting dough in your pockets or there is some sort of substantial stake u have in all this. Again, at the end of the day, it's just a game and it's not like they aren't trying to make it better. Take this as a step in the right direction and IF it breaks other things, it breaks other things! It's not going to destroy your life, and we'll just have to wait for patches and/or Madden 12 to clean up what is broken in Madden 11. Lol.

Ian Cummings confirmed to me that the left analog stick is pressure sensitive like in FIFA, so the more pressure you apply up to the left stick will = more acceleration, so the less pressure you apply = not as fast acceleration. So it's truly analog.

Agreed but so many just never get that point. They'd rather spew a bunch of negative energy because they are negative people. I look at the brighter side...of Sears. Ha.

Sounds dope, and thanks for reminding me to download the Fifa 10 demo, again. I just want to run around for a while on the pitch and imagine running LT through some holes in the D. J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS!

lol..I feel you, theres no point in getting worked about literally nothing. If your not investing your 60 cash, ok -- but nobody is forcing you.

I think its good improvement -- and yes people need to look on the bright side....oh Sears lol

Oh, I forgot to say it again like I said yesterday or the day before on the NCAA 11 blog post - Sounds like we may have to re-learn how we play Madden...and NCAA 11, of course. Lol. I like that idea especially knowing it will give the game a new feel.

Actually, it was said about NCAA 11 in that blog, as well. They're using the same locomotion tech and the joystick pressure is apart of the tech.

Umm, no. I loved M10, but there were many blogs that read like this one with all kinds of goodies----awareness, gangtackles, etc.----promised, but not delivered (or at least not in the way we read it)

((Remember the talk of crowd specific chants!? What happened there?))

So I'm not negative, just sayin that this year I'm playing it differently by not getting sucked in till release day, and THEN if everything's as good as advertised or better, I'll join the "EA delivers!!!!" club.....

I've heard them say why sideline catches are fixed before. I've even seen videos of sideline catches before. Likewise, I've heard them say they've fixed locomotion before, specifically momentum, acceleration, and turn radius. I've heard them explain how they've fixed it before. Also, just like the sideline catches, I've seen video of the fixed locomotion before. The problem is, I have never seen any of these things in the game when the game comes out. With these first 2 blogs, I feel like we're in a "been there, done that, bought the T-shirt" mode. I've seen all of this stuff before and even though the proposed fixes for these annual problems are different, the rhetoric remains the same.
I'm going to need to disagree with the same rhetoric as before statement. If you have ever played FIFA, you would know they have a good locomotion engine. Madden ripped the old locomotion out of Madden and put in the new locomotion code from FIFA. FIFA players run as smooth as butter.

My advice for folks who are ringing up the show me don't tell me card( I understand why) on each and every blog, is just to sit and hold tight until August. Otherwise, there is nothing you can do except beat the same card over and over again with every blog.

Segandude has the right tude. Eh, it does rhyme.
