Great Young Players To Build Around

Hopefully this can be a decent reference post for not only myself, but also for others.

Just looking for the best young players to try to obtain to help build a franchise around.

I'll start off and list a couple.

Obviously...
Atlanta Braves - OF - Jason Heyward (Although good luck trying to trade for him. Seems impossible. Just screwing around with a Yankees franchise I tried to trade Teixeira, A-Rod, and Jeter. No bite.)

Baltimore Orioles - SP - Brian Matusz

New York Yankees - C - Jesus Montero

Tampa Bay Rays - SS - Reid Brignac (Not elite, but is effective right out of the gate.)

Just figured I would list a couple to start with. Add to it guys.

Jesus Montero's not exactly a player to build around. His defense is terrible, and that makes him a positionless player. Although he is working on it right now, it's yet to be seen for Montero to be labelled a 'major-league' catcher yet.

The best young player to build around IMO is Justin Upton from the D'Backs.

Im actually doing something like this with the Nationals so I will throw in a few from my team. (used the OS full minors roster).

3B- Ryan Zimmerman- At only 25 he is a great player to build around.
SP- Stephen Strasburg- Good young pitcher with a great future.
SS- Ian Desmond- only 24 and over time should be good.

There are a few good prospects on my AAA team but for the life of me I can't think of any right now.

Hanley Ramirez nuff said. The guys is an absolute beast. Contact and power from both sides of the plate, good arm and range, and speed is redic. I spose he is 26 but would be considered a young vet.

Pirates have a few. Pedro Alvarez,Jose Tabata,Tony Sanchez,Andrew McCutchen, Lastings Milledge. I'm using Knights roster and trying to build Buccos into a winner.

Now I don't know how well they will turn out in real life, but in my franchise I'm trying to build around those guys. They all have A or B potential so I'm hoping they will all turn out to be atleast half decent.

I think that Chapman would be a good pitcher tio build a team around as well as Strasburg. Also agree about Justin Upton & Hanley Ramirez as well.

Pablo Sandoval. Hitting .460+ after first 11 games on legend difficulty. Any pitch that not hit and edge you can clobber it if you get the pitch influence correct. Hit 2 balls into the bay already this season with him!

Jair Jurjeens, although his potential is at B and can't become and elite dude he still puts up 16 wins at least every year for my Braves. That and posts a very nice ERA.

the reds all the way, aroldis chapman, mike leake, yonder alonso, not to mention jay bruce, joey votto, edinson voloquez, johnny cueto, drew stubbs on the big club already. plus two decent starters to trade for more young talent (arroyo, harang)

-Domonic Brown OF Phillies AAA. kid is a S-T-U-D. use him and Heyward and you have each outfield corner held down...throw McCutchin in center and the OF is done!)

-Justin Smoak 1B Rangers AAA. has been compared to Teixeira...frequently.

Tommy Hanson of the Braves.

I pitched 8.1 perfect innings against the padres with him yeterday. 96 mph FB followed by an 83 mph Change is sick.

Yunel Escobar- went 8-8 in first 4 games with 4 walks
Nate McClouth- 5 homers in 8 games for me
Martin Prado- good defense. solid .290 guy
Brian McCann- beast mode.

Joe Mauer or Matt Wieters.

Two elite players on offense and defense at a very thin position in the league.
