    RTTS unattainable goals

OK, so I'm a closer in my first season in AA. I've had goals such as, "get 6 saves in 3 series", when I only had 4 save opportunities. Goals like , "have a fielding % higher than .990" I won't get either because I often don't have a fielding chance and it shows as .000. Also the training goals have been almost impossible to meet as it's impossible to earn enough training points in time to complete the training tasks. Is this just a issue with the short relief?

I didn't want to resort to buying points or making a different rtts position but it might be heading that way.

So far the only position I've been able to consistently hit my my goals with is a starting pitcher, because, unless you have a horrible game, you get so many points per appearance. With a 1st Baseman I can make around half because of the high amount of putouts you get.

With any other position I find it almost impossible to achieve the advancement goals.

I agree. The unrealistic goals in RTTS are killing me. To the point I stopped playing RTTS and concentrate on Franchise play. Too bad, I love the concept of Be a Pro but goals need a major rework in MLB11.

Maybe something like "hey kid, to make it to the Big League, you'll need a better fastball, more control ...."

stuff like that. I hate to spend a lot of points on Fielding or Bunting for a pitcher.

OK, so I have 15 saves in a row without blowing one (2.50 ERA) and I've been demoted to middle relief because I couldn't complete these ridiculous goals. This really sucks!

We really need a patch for this! I thought that RTTS was supposed to be the best features of this game and now it's not looking so good.

          Re: RTTS unattainable goals

The in-game goals are a problem too. Goals like "drive the run in" and reach base safely will be failed most of the time by even the best hitters, and I feel like you lose far too many points for failing them.

The hit & run goal is the absolute worst though. Supposedly your 3rd base coach will give a sign from 4 different goals. Well, the sign is always hit and run and it's always on the first pitch; which is usually out of the strike zone. In real baseball most hit and runs are on 2-1 or 3-1 counts. Since that pitch is most likely to be a strike. If you don't swing at the pitch you lose 10 points and get a nasty message in you inbox from your manager. No manager would be so stupid as to be mad at a player for not swinging at a pitch a foot outside.

To be honest I think the game would work better without them. They were a good idea, but they just have not been implemented well.

i liked the point and attribute settings back when the show 1st came out with RTTS i think what they changed it too a few years makes it way to hard to get to the show when you get benched or moved so easy

you also get traded way to often

I totally agree here. The trading of your player is ridiculous.

Goals are such crap this year as you are expected to do so much in so little time. How am I suppose to get 8 RBI in 2 weeks when I only bat 4 - 5 time a week!!! Plus, my team sucks so they rarely get on base for me to bat them in!! This needs a total rework.

I think they should make player development a little easier in the beginning and harder towards the end.

I agree, my 1b is really really hard to advance. My friend has been in minor leagues for 5 seasons before call up. talk about boring.

What really irritates me is the "get ahead in the count" and i get a batter to groundout/flyout/popout on first pitch and the goal gets cancelled. i dont even get a positive result. i think a manager wouldnt mind a 1 pitch out...

Yeah trades happen way too often. I'm on my 4th RTTS guy and all 4 have been traded my first year in AA.

I found that I had to save up my points and not pump them into pitches right away.

Jeez, I never have any of these problems. You realize that you don't have to accomplish every goal each go around, correct? If you have 5, pick 3 that are obtainable to complete and you will pass your goals. It's really not that hard. Use manager interactions wisely also. Ask for more playing time, move up in the lineup, etc if you are on a hot streak. Also, you can fail your goals twice before you get demoted or benched for the most part. So in the beginning, pass your goals, then work on your abilities with no regard to goals in the next two training cycles.

I never spend more than one year at any level. I'm playing on All Star as a 3B and in my most recent creation, have just been traded to the Rockies and promoted to AAA in my first year with one week left in the season. We are tied for first, so basically, it's on me to help deliver a post season appearance.

Once you get to the post season, all points are doubled.

yeah i agree i havent had much trouble at all meeting my goals. i think it was actually easier this year to do so. i havent played a relief pitcher though so im not going to pass judgement on that part of the game.

i think alot of it is me having experience from last year, enough at least to know what i was doing wrong. much like the above post, i went from AA to AAA halfway through my first season. and was called up to the show the following year, then sent back down. then back up again in my 3rd year and i havent left since.

While this is true, and is what I do for the most part...you shouldn't have to manipulate the goal system in order for it to work properly. I often intentionally fail goals to stay a starter in AAA as opposed to becoming a bench player in the bigs so I have more opportunity to increase my players stats.

It just seems to defeat the overall goal of RTTS which is make it to the majors. I posted my thoughts on it in the RTTS feedback forums, so we'll see if anything gets changed for next year.

The 1 goal that really bothers me is the in-game goal to steal 3rd base. My player has 88 speed. His br ability is 48 i believe and u dont wanna know his br aggressiveness. But for some reason my coach asks me to steal 3rd base alot. Out of the 5 times ive tried i've only stole it once. It makes no sense to really steal 3rd anyway. Thats the one that sucks to me but the others are pretty attainable for me. Im a cf by the way with pretty balanced attributes. I'm ranked as the 2nd best cf in the organization but still stuck in AA. Dont know how long i'll be down here but i wanna get up to the big league's b4 every1 retires.

Some of them do need tweaking a bit.

My pitcher has just been called up to the bigs and is currently in the Orioles' bullpen. Because we seem to be getting trashed by 6 or more runs by the 4th inning in every other game I'm finding he's getting a lot of mop-up work.

One of my goals is 'Allow 4 or less hits over the next X series' - that's just not achievable when I'm throwing 20+ innings over that period.
