415ft home run? more? you make the call

okay i just hit a monster home run with howard.. and it went upper deck at citi field.. it looked like it should have been 450+ but it only said it was 415, what do you think?

EDIT: if you cant see where it landed the ball landed in the very last row in the upper deck right under "the show" sign

    That looks right to me.

Right field is 330', if you scale the stadium with a plan view (which i did because i'm a nerdy engineer), then 415' looks just about right.

I think homeruns down the lines look a lot farther than they are, due to the nature of the stadium dimensions and the angle the ball leaves the bat. A 415' homerun to straight away center doesn't look like a bomb because they generally only clear the wall in CF by a couple of feet, and watching on TV if you square up the ball to CF it doesn't look like it was crushed the same way.

Most stadiums usually have overhangs, terraces, multiple decks etc out in LF and RF that makes homeruns seem like bombs.

I hit a 415 foot homerun with Wes Helms in Sun Life Stadium, that ended up five rows back in the upper deck of left field. Kinda of odd to me too.

That seems spot on also, lol. Left Field at that stadium is 330'.

I think you guys just see the ball landing in upper decks and just assume they are closer to 500'. A 415' homerun down the line will be landing in most upper decks etc.

          +450' is rare

ha damn, it just felt like such a monster shot and it looked like it almost hit that "the show" sign so i thought it was a lot farther than 415.. guess not lol

i think the show calculates it from where it lands, not where it would of landed. i've had one hit the roof of the homerun porch in texas and only be in the 420's.

It feels gratifying when you get a hold of one...i think the longest I've hit was around 435 with Texeira.

in HRD i've hit 490 ish with Dunn!

I'm pretty sure it calculates trajectory as well.

there was a ball that hit off the foul pole in dodgers stadium (which i dont know the exact distance...but lets just say 330 feet) and it calculated the distance to be over 370. so i think it may take into account trajectory and such things like that. becuase it doesnt seem to factor in that the ball stopped moving because it hit an object

Incorrect, I'll just say that much haha. It definitely takes into account where it would have landed had there been no seats.
