    NCAA Football: The Little Things

When it comes to taking games from good to great, its usually the little things that help make that transition. Like in both MLB games, seeing the players batting like they do in real life really adds to the immersion. Seeing Derek Jeter come up to the plate and do all the little things he really does in real life is just awesome.

Having the signature quarterback throwing animations in Madden 10 was a nice addition too. It added to the immersion. Having the player''s having the correct equipment was nice and added to it as well. But there are other things that should be included. These aren't facemasks, cleats, or signature running styles. These are team traditions.

Imagine playing as your favorite team and you travel to Wake Forest. The game starts and they come out behind their car like in real life. Then the game starts and you play. When it comes time for the 4th quarter, the clock will hit 0:00 in the 3rd and then the camera will pan around the stadium and show all the players and fans holding up 5 for John Abbate.

Or, imagine traveling to Missouri and they come out their smoke like in real life, they run their offense like in real life, but they also have their specific sounds. When they get a first down, imagine hearing the Tiger Roar and how it would add to the game.

Another thing they could add that teams like Missouri and Miami both do is hold up 4 fingers at the start of the 4th quarter. This symbolizes that games are won in the final quarter. Having the camera travel through the stands like a real broadcast showing fans holding up 4 fingers would really help make this the best NCAA game ever.

    Gives me the shivers

What little thing does your team do that would make the game that much more interesting

I think most teams hold up the four fingers to signify the fourth quarter, and I think it'd be a neat little addition.

Seeing Michigan start a game strong and limp to the finish....
Just kidding. I think it would be cool to see Michigan's players run out and touch the M banner as an entrance. It would also be cool to see the players sprint to the other end of the field at the end of a quarter.
It's kind of wait and see at this point.

As far as little things to add to atmosphere, I'd really like to just see more emotion from fans and players. Chest bumps, high-fives, things you'd expect really excited college kids to do after making a game-altering or spectacular play. More team celebrations after scoring as opposed to just running to the endzone, dropping the ball and pointing to the crowd or going run all over the endzone to have the mascot bow to me, things that would be flagged irl.

I agree with MCSquared16, the chest bumps and high-five would be great, as long as it's not overdone.

It should be reserved for great emotional plays instead of every other play. have this mixed in with some generic tackles (lots of them) and this might be something I could play for longer than two weeks.

You can already do that with custom stadium sounds and I'd bet dollars to donuts that we, the users, can do this much, much better than EA could. I know that the sounds I have for my conferences are waaaaaaay better than what EA would come up with.

Re: NCAA Football: The Little Things

The little things in a game are great, MLB The Show for example is heaven for a baseball fan. You are immersed in the game and the atmosphere. Madden is on it's way there, NCAA is at square one quite simply working on building a solid platform for future editions of the game. The NCAA franchise has stagnated - the jump from 09 to 10 was barely a pass and as I've said before, I'd be happy if they "did a Madden" with NCAA 11 (what I mean is, show the same improvement that Madden did from 09 to 10).

I believe the little things described in the opening post are things we can look forward to in future editions of the game, I don't see it in NCAA 11 and if anything, I see a small % of the little things making NCAA 12.

Bigger things to worry about first for the NCAA crew. The little things that we all love can evolve and be incorporated in the future. NCAA 13 will be a crowd pleaser

My screen-name is a combination of my favourite college football player in Tim Tebow and my favourite ever Bronco, Terrell Davis (30).
