Until the fundamental gameplay is addressed, proper passing mechanism in place, and proper DB coverage, I don't see the desire to play online at all. It was only the lack of a proper franchise experience that allowed me to endure 5 seasons last year offline. That desire won't be there this year, so I hope the game/franchise makes a strong leap.

But for people like me who primarily play online -- we just cope and adapt to the faults of the fundamental gameplay elements that people eventually exploit/abuse...while people who just go Online every now and then, encounter these people abusing the exploits and just never go back on.Comment

Re: 350,000 Played Madden NFL 10 Online Once, Then Never Went Online Again
I might have been one of those, I played a few games (2-5) of Madden 2009 but ran into mainly cheaters or people not playing pro, and think that I've only played one game online of Madden 2010. It was against another cheater who just ran one or two plays and was in dime defense the whole game, then he complained when I ran up the gut and started cheating so I quit.Comment

gamers quitting or dropped games. Listen up EA. There's nothing worse than playing a game and winning, have your connection dropped and receiving a loss. i have literally put my controller down for weeks because of bad connections or gamers quitting.Comment

Re: 350,000 Played Madden NFL 10 Online Once, Then Never Went Online Again
This should be a sign to Ian and EA that Online isn't where their target audience is focusing their time in Madden... Sadly, it will just make them keep shoving more 'online improvements' down our throats instead of fixing and EXPANDING Offline Franchise mode....
This stat really made me smile...Comment

That is just once... I have played online 4 times... FOUR... I had enough and decided to stick with COD and Halo for my online experience.

I'm probably part of that 350k. I don't really care if they fix up online though, I want offline franchise improvements.
I think a lot of people underestimate the number of offline players as obviously they don't have as much of a presence on the forums.Comment

Re: 350,000 Played Madden NFL 10 Online Once, Then Never Went Online Again
Not that surprising pf a number actually. Many go for the online roster update, and the game gives the non-sim style players too much of a advantage if they have stick skills. It's a huge turnoff for those gamers that want to look for a fair style game that they can be competitive in more times then not. Fair play is not the answer to this, infact that's going against the simulation mantra since restricting the coaches play calls is not sim. The game still needs to work on the fundamental foundations of football gameplay to make sim-style with adequate stick skills trump a person that doesn't play proper football.
Also the sever/lag doesn't help. People need to have really good connections to have a decent connection it seems.
Ultimately the more realistic and fun the gameplay is, the more that number will drop as more gamers will participate in online play more often.Apply to Become an EA SPORTS Game Changer here: About EA SPORTS Game Changers

Re: 350,000 Played Madden NFL 10 Online Once, Then Never Went Online Again
Not surprising since for some reason in Madden to get a roster update, you have to enter into an Online game.
I really don't understand that at all. On a related note, I also don't get why you need to have an XBL Gold Membership to access the EA Locker? It should be made available to everyone, regardless of level of membership.Currently Playing:

Simple- Update roster/ play offline franchise.
I don't know if they realize that there biggest fan base if us Franchise guys. Although the truth is if me and 3 friends could ever co-op (ON THE SAME TEAM) in a franchise. We'd be online all the time. It actually would save us all the trip that we make each week in order for us to play our 4 (ON THE SAME TEAM) franchise.
Wishful thinking, some day it will happenMadden25 next gen cant come soon enough!!!Comment
