Re: Madden NFL 11 Video: Developer Series - Gameflow. Gameplanning. Locomotion.
To me it almost seems like the only thing in the game is locomotion and the stuff in madden 10 was taken out? I mean the pocket seems to be missing as well idk. I thought logically you build on top of what you had the year before.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Video: Developer Series - Gameflow. Gameplanning. Locomotion.
The devs kind of missed the boat on the fact that the games take 60 mins to play.
I don't mind playing a 60min football game, what I mind is I CANNOT SAVE THE GAME while I'm playing and pick up the same game where I saved it at a later time.
In game saves negate the need to speed up game time. I just want to be able to do an in game save if something comes up that's all.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Video: Developer Series - Gameflow. Gameplanning. Locomotion.
That's not what I meant by the 2K gamer. It's just that they are used to seeing fluid animations. That's part of the reason coming to Madden has been such a jarring experience for them. You make it like 2k gamers are part of an elite club. I've played 2k games before and I've played a variety of other more recent higher budget games. I don't need to be a "2k gamer" to determine whether or not I think it's fluid or not. Especially when MLB2k10 and most recent 2k games are a jittery mess.
Judge the game on its merits don't bring irrelevent issues into it.
I'm talking about 11. Not 10. I see the issues with 10.
Your willing to give them a lot more credit than I am for solving the rendering problem, especially when they haven't even fessed up to it being a problem. They won't even discuss it. Mum's the word. Try engaging anyone on the topic. Silence. Not 'no, there is no problem'. Just crickets.
So far I think the footage looks the same as last years footage, and M10 still didn't render fluidly.Comment

Running animations are still pretty bad. How is this never addresses?
Players dont 'run'. They 'lumber' along. The speedy guys dont look fluid, and their legs move waaaay too slow.

if theyre concentrating on momentum, then why do players never plant their feet before making a cut? they still turn on a dime. theyre kidding themselves.Comment

They might just have it in for the runner in the videos, and not the entire team since it's an early build. If they add locomotion for the defense, they are going to have to reprogram their entire defense.Comment

Did anyone catch the part in the video where they're discussing that the average length of a Madden game is 63 minutes, and one of them says "If you're only spending 17 minutes in the game where play-by-play and color commentary makes sense, how do you fill the rest of that time?"
Its statements like this that make me question if these guys even watch football games on TV at all.
Maybe they should, you know, try watching an actual broadcast presentation that goes for 1 hour of actual game-time and ask themselves that question. It's too sad to even be funny to me

I think that is reading too much into it. They are just looking to cut the time the game is played, bottom line.Did anyone catch the part in the video where they're discussing that the average length of a Madden game is 63 minutes, and one of them says "If you're only spending 17 minutes in the game where play-by-play and color commentary makes sense, how do you fill the rest of that time?"

Re: Madden NFL 11 Video: Developer Series - Gameflow. Gameplanning. Locomotion.
I honestly don't care if a game takes 10 mins, 20, or 2 hours....as long as each game I play gets around 120 plays between both teams and realistic stats then I am happy.Comment

I will say they look better, but that ain't really saying much. Like you said they still are not running. It still looks like they're jogging just a tad bit faster. I guess we will have to wait till 2013 to finally see fluid running, or fluid animations period.NFL:Colts
