REAL-time tackles need to be addressed period

Is it me but after watching each tackle on M11 unpolished version, you can see that only 1 guy takes down the ball carrier even though hes surrounded by 8 guys plus when an animation is ignitiated between a ball carrier and a defender theres no way that the 2nd or 3rd guy can make a impact on the play. i feel like IAN only gets to half of the problems in not all. now im not making any assumptions to madden or even NCAA but from what im watching none of this looks amazing at all. Stop trying to make things Simplier Quicker Deeper and make Animations Better or Even REAL-TIME honestly i hate Backbreaker idc if the game is better but they have better animations and REAL tackles animations dont dictate the game.

I haven't heard that voice in a almost a year.

Let's just hope they fine tune some things before it hits the shelves.

          Great post, great video

One of my friends and I are what you would call "defensive minded" cats. I played FS in high school, he played LB where he went to school. We both would rather watch a defensive slug fest that ends in a 13-10 score.

We both get annoyed by the lack of attention to defense and contact that is in Madden. M10 had absolutely no pass rush - you could sit in the pocket for days trying to find a WR! Gang tackle? yea, only CPU controlled canned crap - you had no impact a second defender once an animation started.

I am tired of the excuses about "suction" blocking, OL/DL interaction, WR vd DBs is Madden is like watching paint dry. Look, Madden is fun and I like the game, I think that M10 was a baby step in the right direction.

I wasn't here for a while, so I don't know for sure, but my guess is that Ian got run off by people who paid attention to the promises he gave last year around this time that were not delivered. Did people probably get nasty about it - yes, were things said in the wrong way - guessing here but it is likely.

I think EA being tight lipped about "features" for M11 is a good thing if it means that Ian learned a lesson from last year - and that is do not promise something and then fail to deliver. And by this I am in no way endorsing bashing anyone or if things got out of hand with the EA guys after M10 dropped, but where I am from you don't make promises you can not keep and I remember this from Ian last year -
"You can totally come in when the ball carrier is in a tackle animation and finish him off" paraphrasing from a video interview last year. And that was something that really got me and my friend hyped up - M10 releases and it was clear from the first qtr of the first game that was not the case.

LOL.. It will require more than just "fine tuning." You can't get the effect displayed in that video of the "double hit tackle" with an animation.. It would be the same animation every time so it would really be Pro-Tak.. I don't know how they can fix it simple but the only thing they can do is have more animations.. I wish they had more than 3 tackle animations.

If they haven't done it by now, then they just cant do it, its the engine, it's old, and needs to be replaced. Maybe next gen, for now you just have to except it because its the only NFL game out.

                ^^^ Exactly.

And from my understanding, its the same engine (more or less in terms of what it can/cant do) since Madden 04-05 (maybe earlier) just imported to 360 then PS3.

Yup, adding to the tackle with a crushing hit by the user controlled defender is a must, its been a decade of scripted tackles and now scripted pro-tak animations. I want to be able to pop a guy while he is interacting with a defender/defenders mid tackle. NO MORE sliding off or whiffing like a little 65lb granny.

Pro take doesn't properly capture the violence of the NFL game

The hits in madden look soft and are hugging or phone booth tackles. Madden needs to employ proper physics of impact hits and collisions to properly capture an NFL tackle.

I guess that properly adding tacklers to a tackle in progress causes terrible morphing and clipping issues. The boundaries around each player seems to be the problem. This could be one of the things that needs work the most, it would solve the ol/dl interactions. Awareness by the players comes into play also, knowing where they are on the field at all times and what each situation calls for must be very difficult to code. The running animations look awkward/robotic, perhaps the loop for running animations needs to be changed, there doesnt seem to be enough difference between start/acceleration/sprinting all out/stop animations. Its like boom, they animate to top speed and run the same loop/animation until tackled or touchdown.

It's beyond me how we are in 2010 and we are still not here with the impact of NFL tackling. I simply cannot understand why they continually add things like gameplan when one of the foundations of the NFL (tackling) is subpar to say the least.

I have been playing maddens since the get-go and I thought madden 10 was good. Sure it had it's flaws, but hey, just MHO. Now, that being said, seriously, why cannot we address the tackling and make it more violent, impacting? All those vids are right on and all the comments are the same.

I think we just have to accept it for what it is because the engine just cannot create these tackles or for some strange reason the dev team will not implement them, and I cannot for the life of e understand why they would choose to do this. I guess we are stuck till the exclusive license is up OR we get the PS4 or the xbox equivelant. Sucks but it's the way it is.
