Wasnt meant to come out.. As in they didnt get a chance to purty it up with scripted events and touch ups.

This video will be closer to what the game looks and plays like then the stuff they want you to see.

Wasn't meant to be released as in its a very early build. Even the CD guys have said the version they saw was a lot better than the video and they saw an early build too.

Are you serious?? When has a alpha built been considered close to the final product?? The game is 2 months from going gold. SMH

How many years have we heard the old "The version I played was better than the demo" bit? The same thing was said about Madden 10 last year, which I later return in 3 weeks to my local gamestop.

NCAA 10 does look good graphically though, but that is not enough to win me over anymore in hopes that the gameplay would match the great graphics. Never again will I be burned by EA Sport's hype machine. One thing we can say about EA is that their advertising is unmatched by any developer. They really make people, including me, believe that their games are going to be great each year.

                It's one video....

I read somewhere (and I can't seem to find where) that it was an early build of the game and it was not supposed to be released. When I have more time, I'll look for it and post that link.

Everybody has reason to put the game down because of all the next gen releases but I really think they are making steps in the right direction. I'm really excited about the improvements they are making to gameplay -- which is a heck of a lot more important than including dreads... Give me a break.

Anyway, follow the blog on EA's website. Pretty exciting stuff. We won't be able to fully judge the game until it releases, but everybody needs to chill out about a single video that probably wasn't supposed to represent anything to begin with.

14straight - once again you come at the whole dreadlocks thing as if they can't do more than one thing; as if fixing the hair issue is going to take away from gameplay iprovements. The simple truth is they could fix gameplay as well as dreads. The team that would be working on the hair isn't even the same as those working on the blocking and player AI anyways.

The bottom line is that EA should always be working on all issues that they can to make the game look and play better, including the "minor" cosmetic ones that make the game look much more realistic. Because let's face it, even if the game played fantastic (which it doesn't) then it'd still be very boring and dry if everyone continues to look like a bunch of clones.

I tend to agree with you Odogg, they should make it as realistic as possible. I am not a dread fan, but the fact that they still fail to put it in next gen is ridiculous.

I'll bet if you could pull up this forum from 2004 you'd find just as much nitpicking, anger, criticism and absolute dissatisfaction with the game that you do now.

I think what it is here is that the current crop of games has no competition and honestly I do feel they've gotten worse, no question. I'm just pointing out that I find it ironic that we look back at those games as the "glory years".

Kinda makes you wonder if EA keeps lowering the bar and their football games keep getting worse if in 2016 we will look back on NCAA 10 with great nostalgia and people will be making posts about how they wish they could just go back to NCAA 10? Pretty scary huh??
OBviously, most things in life are this way. However sometimes we find out the grass is not always greener on the other side, and that is when we realize that what he had is better than what we have.

Yes it can be nostalgia, but in the case of a tangible product like a video game, it can be TRUTH. And in the case of this series, it has gone backwards since the PS2 "glory years"

More than anything else, we expected some things to be football videogame constants(like formation subs, long hair, etc), rightfully so I might add, and be built upon rather than stripped and re-added 5 installments down the line.

I can even imagine where we would be right now if we simply continued to build upon what the PS2 had going.

Re: NCAA Football 11 Video: Gameplay Footage

odogg -- Good point. I don't disagree with making the game look as aesthetically pleasing as possible. My point is that I'm more concerned about the gameplay. I really hope it is going to be vastly improved and from what I've been reading -- it seems they are trying to do that. For instance, motion capping the runners sprinting 40 yards to give a more realistic sprint animation. The sprint animation has always bothered me on the next gen because it just looks awful.

Now, with all of these new things they are doing for NCAA '11-- it's really easy to say "Why haven't they been doing this all along?". I'm not real sure why they couldn't have a motion capture of a 40-yard sprint before... but they are doing it now. Maybe they didn't have those kinds of resources before. There have been plenty of inexcusable exclusions such as Division 1-AA teams, bowl patches, dreadlocks, skull caps, hits that knock helmets loose or off, shoulder pads being exposed, grass stuck in the facemask (XBOX games had this), better uniform deterioration (I love the scuff marks on the helmet though), etc, etc. Some things that were on old gen versions of the game somehow got left off of next gen. It at least seems easy enough to include bowl patches or dreads.

So, it's about time that EA made some serious overhauls on the game's mechanics. NCAA '11 could be a nice building block for future games. I'm liking what I hear and I'm not putting stock into one video. I really feel they are making a stride to make this game more of a simulation. They are toning down the game speed. I would say something about acceleration and agility actually making a difference this year, but that's something that should have already been working. At least they are addressing it.

I can't believe this thread is still active. so much talk over a video that was released by mistake and already has been proven inaccurate by other vids.
