How long have you been on creatine? Be careful, my stomach is now jacked up because of it. I took it for about a year and a half and stopped about 5 years ago. I'm in excrutiating pain everyday, almost to tears many times, and have undergone a number of medical tests to find ways to help. So far, the doctors haven't been able to find a way to help me.Well, let's hope the plays are legitimately unpredictable. There's more to unpredictability in football than simply making the tackles always look different. Hopefully coverages/blocking varies at the right balance. Unpredictability is a big selling point for them, but I think that concept goes beyond Euphoria offers. My problem with that is it seems like anything beyond what Euphoria offers gameplay-wise is kind of second class.
I'm still getting it.. so far.
Edit-I can't wait for June 1.Comment

Im with ya bro.Cant wait for either one of those titles.Red Dead, then Backbreaker FTWI'll be buying it on day 1. Can't wait to see what they've done. I haven't followed them for the last couple of months. 3 years in development, and my interest trailed off towards the end. Glad there's a couple weeks between it and Red Dead Redemption. That would have been a tough call gaming wise.

I'm actually starting to lean toward a day 1 purchase on some "Cuff it, though, like cuff it though" (an edited Jay-Z line, to the uninitiated) especially at $49 or even $45 with pre-order since Nat. Mot hasn't committed to a time frame on a demo and renting it just costs extra donuts if I end up wanting the game BUT I will predicate my purchase on what I read in the reviews before it comes out, which there will be.Just cuz you pour syrup on ish....Comment

The customization options do add some depth, as do the 2 franchise modes. Not entirely true. Aside from Euphoria, this game has a very in-depth customization tool, 2 franchise modes, training drills, and tackle alley. While this game is missing some things, I think it's going to be amazing to play. And even though we are talking about features besides Euphoria, that in itself will make this game truly shine.
Gameplay wise, I guess I'll just have to reserve my judgement until the game's release.
I have to admit, Euphoria physics should be pretty awesome.Comment

I hope you're right Afrikan.I don't know, I get the feeling it will be very refreshing.......I want to just run the ball to see what will happen next....everything is suppose to be different...and I want to see it... I want to see if I almost make it through a hole with out, just bumping into the back of my blockers......so much stuff I want to see running the ball...
then there is passing....close up view, I feel I will have to really read the defense...and know the routes and where everyone is going......as well as making quick decisions.........or maybe I'll play Receiver and let the cpu take over with the passing, and just run routes....
then there is defense.....playing LB...and of course Safety...or even Corner... I love playing CB on Madden........so it should be interesting in this game...
and that is just with gameplay....... I wonder how I'm going to do the two season modes......one NFL season...and the other Road to BackBreaker mode...that should be fun.....
and of course there is customization....... I don't know, I can't really see myself getting bored with the game quickly or anything.......maybe frustrated if there are problems....but I doubt bored... I mean I know certain things going in....no commentary......but that is ok....I'll be too busy trying to pick my next play.Comment

Re: Backbreaker Release Date Confirmed, June 1st for $49.99
Exactly! It is the unpredictability that will make each play unique, and whenever a spectacular play happens, it is YOUR spectacular play. I am so excited for short yardage plays where a power back just keeps his feet moving to get that extra yard, or a pass to a receiver that threads the needle between two defenders. Just to see it in action will be incredible and everyone will have their own personal and unique highlight reel. This could be huge for franchises where you can actually get attached to your players and the plays they make for your team. Man this game is going to be something else.I don't know, I get the feeling it will be very refreshing.......I want to just run the ball to see what will happen next....everything is suppose to be different...and I want to see it... Re: Backbreaker Release Date Confirmed, June 1st for $49.99
I have personally pre-ordered Backbreaker at Amazon.com for $45 dollars and I can't wait till June 1st.
If Backbreaker was just a bare boned game with no franchise and limited modes. As super fun as tackle alley is. This game would just be a rental for me.
The game has long term playability because of the two seperate in-depth franchise modes and the deep customization tools. The negative of not having a licensed game can be a positive because with the customization tools in this game. I am not just limited to one league. I can create any team and any league. NFL, NCAA, CFL etc etc etc I can create 32 teams and put them all into one franchise mode. I can user all of them if I want. That's gamer freedom right there.
The biggest selling point for me is Euphoria and the new playing style. Euphoria simulates genuine human movement, ability and awareness. That's what will make the gameplay. I am a madden player and I loved 2K and APF. I am looking for something different and new that is user friendly and that's what Backbreaker is. I am happy that they didn't try and compete with the styles of those games and that they are doing something new and refreshing. At the same time, staying away from arcade and trying to truly be a game that simulates football movement and ability.Last edited by LeonM; 05-06-2010, 08:19 AM.Comment

Re: Backbreaker Release Date Confirmed, June 1st for $49.99
I agree, but that's also why I'm so critical. I am looking well past the 'oh look, this is neat' phase the first week or so after the purchase, and at the reasons why I still play Madden 10 today. That's when the things that are missing really add up. I don't buy a football game to play it for a few weeks and put it on the shelf to play every so often like it's some other game.
Maybe BB's franchise modes will be fun, but it's still TBD, the lack of information so close to release is kinda of disturbing, and with the things they're already omitting from the game, we can't just assume stuff like player contracts will be there and they've just not mentioned it.Comment

Right on. It has to have lasting value...given the fact that we have 2 franchise modes and the whole customization thing, there's a lot to do(well at least from what we know)I agree, but that's also why I'm so critical. It's very hard to predict exactly what this game will be like until we actually put the game in and play it.
And I'm pretty sure player contracts have been confirmed.
EDIT: Never mind about the contracts. I was thinking of something else.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

Contracts are a must for franchise mode to be successful. I just wish we would get a vid or some info on how scouting, free agency, and the draft actually work.Comment

Re: Backbreaker Release Date Confirmed, June 1st for $49.99
Regarding the unpredictability: I understand it'll happen whenever Euphoria is responsible for generating the animations. That is a part of the game. What about the other part? Is euphoria responsible for player interactions during blocking and running passing routes? APF shined in those areas due to the variance of results and good balance between them.
Also, unpredictability ties into "the little things" such as fumbled snaps, bad snap/hold, slipping, tipped passes, bobbles, bad passes, varied routes (not everyone runs a perfect route every play), injuries. It legitimately felt like anything could happen in APF (besides fumble
). I'm hoping they capture that random, wild aspect of football. It's always been a tough balance in the past. You want the user to feel under control, but you also want to capture that aspect. We'll see what they did. The lack of fumbles in APF is a great example of them really limiting a "wild" part of football. I wish they wouldn't have.
I'm concerned about blocking... but I'll wait until I play the demo to say anything about it. It's one of the reasons I said "Everything outside of Euphoria looks second-class". Another thing is QB pass animations. One thing that does look nice is ball trajectory at least. Again, those videos were with maxed out players, so once things get tuned it may change.Last edited by CreatineKasey; 05-06-2010, 07:44 PM.Xbox Live Gamertag: CreatineKasey
