Is it possible to make diving catches with infielders and outfielders?

I feel this can't be done. I've made only 1 diving stop thus far, and it was with my shortstop.

Dives with the outfielders result in the ball going to the wall.

Anything down the line on the ground is never saved by 1B/3B. Am I doing something wrong or is this part of the game broken?

The balls down the line is an "issue" with the game. You can help fix it by making your 1st and 3rd basemen hug the line. Out of the box, a lot of balls get down the line and that's just how it is. No idea about diving to make catches, though.

I have only played in RTTS so far, but I play SS. I have made many diving stops in 3 seasons. Catching line drives is basically impossible for an infielder in RTTS though, you basically have no idea what is going on and then the ball is in the outfield.

I have made exactly one diving stab with Adrian Beltre on a screamer down the line. Totally my right trigger press, he made the play, got to his knees, and threw out Posada, who thankfully is slow.

That is the only diving stop I have made, nor have I ever robbed a homerun yet. I have fielder reaction speed at 7 but fielder speed at 0 for my sliders, so maybe I have curbed my fielder's abilities, but I know that Pedroia has missed a few diving plays I feel he should have made.

I make them with infielders and outfielders all the time, but not too much

After switching to Auto Fielding Arod and Tex have made some great spectacular diving plays for me. So have Swisher and Gardner. Give Auto fielding a shot. After switching, ive noticed less and less balls going under Arod's glove when hit down the line.

I make them all the time. One tip for making a diving catch in the infield is to get as close to the ball as you can before diving. You almost have to feel that the ball is about to go past you before you dive. Waiting will prevent you from being short on the dive.

have done it quite often for both infield and outfield and both in the gaps/holes and down the lines.

Re: Is it possible to make diving catches with infielders and outfielders?

Yes it is, it's pretty easy to do it with the infielders. I use to dive a lot with the outfielders and got tired of giving away triples so I stopped using it, but I got some sick catches on occasions.

                    It's definitely not easy.

Yeah, I've gotten a couple of these game changers myself. Last year it lead to a triple play! They are hard to come by though so don't expect to get every diving ball down TBL because no third baseman in history every stopped all hot shots down the line!

I dive stab and pop up and throw and the ball falls out of my hand, whether its Cabrera, Phillips, Rolen doesn't matter 9/10 times they will drop it while attempting the throw, quite annoying.
