Backbreaker camera + Madden physics = EPIC FAIL!
    * IF a Backbreaker had been made with those lame *** physics and warping and suction and repetitive animations it would have scored somewhere in the vacinity of Superman for the NES...

Backbreaker physics + Madden camera = WIN!
** THIS is not going to happen, probably ever, but guaranteed not to happen on this title. I would much rather have the option of a User Defined Camera, that same bit of tech that was actually included in the old PS2 era Maddens that allowed you to set different cameras for running game, passing game, defense...a custom camera would be the pooh!

As it is I have spent the better part of 7 hours playing this demo so far and I am still addicted to Tackle Alley even though I have gotten my high score over 60,000. This game is not for everyone (and I still really dislike aspects of it myself

Re: Backbreaker Demo Available, Post Your Impressions Here

Thank God for Demos. I get this game is supposed to be different....but I don't even understand the wow factor everyone is talking about. There is so much more to football than big hits and decent animations (yes, I said decent). Half the time the players look like rag dolls flying around...they remind me of crash test dummies.

The AI on offense is horrendous. I just played a team that three 3 straight backward laterals that turned into fumbles. Controls?...what controls?? Think about all of things you can do in ANY of the recent football games.....this game has like 3 or 4 different things and almost all are to do with your player.....not strategy related. The passing game is just stupid.

(Yes, I realize this is only a demo, but I have to think the basics of game play are there enough to garner a buy/no buy decision).

For me, football is play calling and players making plays. There is nothing better than a play executed to perfection where you can see it open up. More than that, calling plays to setup other plays. That is the strategy of football. Unfortunately, this game is just not made to be able to display that. ....and I get that they are doing a different thing, but its just not for me......Good luck to all....I hope you all do like it and get hours of enjoyment from playing.

I've basically stopped playing the demo. Not cuz I don't like the game. Quite the opposite. LOVE it. But 4 minute games are just...unsatisfying. Not to mention it's frustrating knowing the A.I. will put up a great fight only throught the first quarter and as soon as it hits the second quarter and it goes into it's 2 minute drill, it all goes to hell.

I'm so ready for the retail version lol.

I was unsure of the camera angle when it was announced but I'm loving it now. A bit hard to run but realized its a lot more realistic since you shouldn't be able to see the hole's in the line on the other side of the field lol.

Played practice mode in Madden after playing a lot of Backbreaker (my bro wanted to use normal teams :/) and thats all it took to sell me. Backbreaker is just much better football.

Still getting used to the passing though, I'm throwing a lot of ints...

I only play Tackle Alley now. Like you said, it's unsatisfying to play for that short of time. Only one more week to go, though

I had to borrow a friend's 360 for the weekend, hehe.....I've waited to long for this game to sit back and know others are playing it before me.....

I can't wait till it hits the PSN, the sound out of this system doesn't seem the same...as well as the picture (older 360, so no HDMI)...

its funny but I also borrowed other games Halo 3, Gears 2, Mass Effect...but haven't played any of them...just BackBreaker.

Limit it online, or make it so both have to have the same settings. To say it's a disadvantage in multi player is a weak cop out.
In real you have peripheral vision but you act like players are constantly moving their heads from left to right when running. You have to look ahead and only make split second head movements, which I think the game emulates. The majority of tacklers aren't seen by you in real life and again, I think this game emulates that as well.

I have read this thread from the beginning and I see alot of people not giving the game a fair chance which I don't mind because you were more than likely someone I wouldn't have wanted to play anyway. I also see quite a few that have come around after giving the game TIME! Can't stress that enough. The game is hard. I couldn't move the ball at all and thought the running game was too hard. But now I can run and pass fine(hard mode). So give it time.

If it is not for you, then it is not for you. But from my experience, most people that complained about 2k5 were not that football minded in the first place. I would play them and all they wanted to do was stick to money plays and run to the right with their QB. Maybe a REAL football game just isn't for you, thank God for competition, I no longer have to settle for the wolf in sheeps clothing.

i dont think Natural Motion cares if people do not buy the game because of lack of cam. There will be enough sales to cover the cost of the game, meanwhile, they are making plenty of money off of their engine IE: Star Wars Force Unleashed I and II, Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV with many more to come.

and don't forget about their BackBreaker app for Iphone....I believe it sold more than 1.5 million....and it just released for Android so we'll see how it does there.

After playing the heck out of the demo over the weekend, I am back on the side of buying it Day One.

I think I will be able to have a blast created a team of old teammates, friends, my sons, etc. It will be like a fantasy squad with a crazy physics and possibilities.

The camera is growing on me a bit and it's a nice change of pace.

I may wait until late in the day on June 1 to see if the CPU AI is cleaned up in the retail version. LOL Especially, the CPU thrown INTs. It's so NCAA 08 in that regard.

You can see alot with a flick of they eye. If your head is turned to the right you don't have to turn your whole head to see to the left. And that is the problem I have with the camera, you need an angle that can replicate head turns AND the additional space you can see with split second eye movements. Panning back and up a bit I think can help in this area.

I'm not sure if there is such thing as a perfect camera angle, and I like the default camera at times but others I don't. Also, don't you realize "real life" NFL players can see behind their heads? Their head may be facing straight ahead but their eyes are facing up looking at the live stadium TV screen to see who's behind them. You won't be able to do that in this game so by golly it's not realistic!

Switch to alt QB controls. Much faster field scanning with the X & B buttons and the lob pass works.

I hope that is patched, it should be just as fast with the stick. I'm wondering if the stick delay is so that you don't accidentally switch receivers when trying to make a pass.
