There's no complicated level editor, no clunky controls to frustrate you. Instead, you press a single button while skating to shape rails, quarter pipes, banks, and more. Let's say you're nearing the end of a rail, but you want to keep grinding. Hit the shape button and you create a continuation of the rail as you skate. This green rail can go any which way you want. Curve left, pull up, drop back down and jump off. That green rail then sets itself in the environment so you (or your friends online) can ride it. You're still governed by physics, so you'll slow as you incline and gain some speed if you create a decline.

Shaun White Skateboarding
I'm fully prepared for it to suck, because Snowboarding sucked, but I'll give it a shot. I love me some skateboarding games.
Activision's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater cornered the market on over-the-top action and EA's Skate nailed realism, so when creating Shaun White Skateboarding, Ubisoft knew it had to do something different. They've certainly done that. Shaun White Skateboarding is essentially a giant park creator, except you build the park as you're skating.

Re: Shaun White Skateboarding
I thought the snowboarding game was a lot of fun (PS3 version, not Wii). Probably won't get this though because if I want another skateboarding game, I'd probably just get skate 3.

Re: Shaun White Skateboarding
I don't see how this can expect to compete.
Tony Hawk was the former king, and then the series started to suck, where it is now.
And now Skate is at the top. It brought innovative controls to the table, and people enjoy playing it.
Now they want to bring in a guy that most people (outside of Shaun White fans) associate with snowboarding and slap his name on a skateboarding game? Has anyone mentioned that Shaun White Snowboarding sucked?Comment

Re: Shaun White Skateboarding
The PS3 version of the game has been recalled and will be reviewed once we have the final retail builds in our office.

Yes actually. I hate the guy and would perfer to never play as him at all and only ever use my own character.Just know that Shaun White has been imprisoned by this evil government, which means that you'll be playing nearly the entire game as your created skater. Because, you know, that's what everyone wants from a game called Shaun White Skateboarding, right?
I'm still giving it a rent. Doesn't sound like there's coin collecting at least.Comment

Re: Shaun White Skateboarding
I don't see much Tony Hawk in his new games either, so they can't be bashing that. I mean what about the Madden football games? He's not even commentating anymore!
Oh well, I have Skate 3 anyway. There wasn't really a market for this game IMO.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Shaun White Skateboarding
It's ok I guess. 5-6 for a score is right on.
The movement is really stiff.
The soundtrack is so last year, literally, most of it seems to be from GH 5.
Controls are strange. You can use the stick or you can use the A button with a direction on the left stick.
No grind button so the usual problems that come with that.
Can't jump when off board.
Very arcade overall but decent.
Forgot to mention, instead of bailing you explode into colors. It's in the IGN review. See the real problem with is you have to sit through a load screen every time. It's also pretty flimsy and inconsistant overall in regards to if it happens. Just trying to go up a vert transfer and bumping the side of the larger one caused it to happen.
Then the there's the in game advertising. For a game that's supposed to be about going against the man there sure is a lot of it. You're turning the resturants into Wendy's.Last edited by goh; 10-29-2010, 03:14 PM.Comment
