So let me get this straight, they scrapped NCAA basketball but they're making a college hockey game? I'll give it to EA, their NHL series is probably the best of their sports titles but Hockey is the least popular sport out of the major 4. I seriously doubt that a college hockey game would sell.

Fifa is their best sports title.

It'd be great to have the ability to play a college game within NHL. The WCHA is huge where I live.

Maybe I'm not understanding this correctly but...they must mean we'd be able to use college teams in "Play now" games. They can't possibly be meaning that there would be a full college game? Including recruiting, and the full works? Can they?

Hmm, if this is in NHL 11, they could possibly have it if you draft a player who is going to college you can watch him develope and what not, but have no control over when he comes out. If done right could be really cool.

My guess is that we'll be able to play a season mode with the college teams just like we're able to play with the european teams.

There's no way this would be a stand-alone game. I absolutely see it as being part of NHL 11 or future iterations of that. My guess is that while it may not be in time to get it in as part of NHL 11, I could see it happening after that.

The only reason why we're seeing NCAA people stepping up talking about this is because the CHL is involved now. The NCAA and CHL are in a major war of sorts competing for players. The CHL doesn't like seeing good players go play college and vice versa, especially with more good players coming out of America.

If they can get this in NHL 11 somehow though... Ye gods.

If they included NCAA, I would pay an extra $20 for this game. I've wanted to play as Clarkson since I was 4 (I'm 22 now).

As it's own game it wouldn't sell enough. As part of NHL 11 however, it could greatly boost sales.

I think it could sell enough if cheaper than $60 and you could import players to NHL or CHL rosters on NHL 12, since we most likely won't see the game this year.

While it would be nice to be able to play as college teams in a play now mode, I'd want all the conferences (WCHA, CCHA, etc.), holiday tournaments, conference tournaments, and the PairWise formulas for NCAA tournament selection. Get D1 right first, and then add D3 down the road.

Am I asking too much?

Edit: Forgot to add - all the arenas. Or at least the correct dimensions for each rink.

Wow! As if we knew what to do with the other leagues they're throwing at us.

Seriously, this is pretty awesome. Real NCAA teams and licensing within a professional sports game? Never really crossed my mind, but it's a great way to give the NCAA hockey teams and players more exposure (though I guess those players would be generated names and/or just #'s) without making it its own game. And if it takes off... then maybe it can become its own.

However, it'll probably be very barebones, and I doubt they'll be able to fit it in this year. We're just 3 months from release now. I doubt you'll see any recruiting and other deeper elements until the 2nd, 3rd, etc editions with the NCAA teams in the game.

Still, completely and utterly awesome.

I love hockey, I love football, I don't really watch the college versions of either (sometimes football, but I'm from Canada so it's not that big here). Still, I would get this game but only if it works the same as the NCAA football game so that I can import draft classes.

While this is intriguing, it doesn't do *that* much for me. Being a 30-year-old Canadian - NCAA hockey will always be something of a joke to me. I know it's relevancy is growing and more players are spending time in the NCAA.

But, the same stringent rules on eligibility and amateurism for football and basketball. This means none of the real players will be represented. But, it'd be cool as a recruitment/drafting/development area along with the CHL.
