Everything is all pure speculation at this point, guys. Just because David Littman made the NHL series, doesn't mean he knows nothing about basketball or how the game is played. He's implementing new features, he's not changing the sport of basketball. There's other designers/developers who are more in-tune with stats, signature moves, etc.. That's why there's a development TEAM. Just look at Marcus, he went from basketball to wrestling, same type of thing. May not be on such a bigger scale, but does it really matter? My point is, it's still very early. I'm sure EA knew they'd have doubters after the name change and this news becoming public, everyone is just assuming things instead of waiting for the information to be released. Patience people, patience.

Hoosier is there anything wrong with discussing some misgivings one may have ? I hear everything you and haval are saying both making excellent points. I sincerely hope for the best but Today at 7:23 this is how I am feeling. I just want David and anyone else to know that Basketball is in Fact NOT Hockey.

Were discussing. No one is pressing the panic button but I did take the protective cover off mine.

Lets not lablel (not saying you are) everyone who is not like Dam this sounds great as people panicking or whatever I mean this IS EA were talking about right ? I mean don't they have a history of pulling this exact same stuff on us ? You guys are acting like there are NO grounds to be concerned... haha you did play live 06,07,08,09 didn't you ? LOL

Czar, I feel you, I really do. I have no problem with discussing topics like this, it's no secret the marketing ploys EA has pulled in the past. I just think it's highly unlikely they scrap everything they've worked on since 09 until now and are going a completely different direction. I personally like the shot stick and want the shots on the sticks. Doing so, frees up the face buttons and perhaps modifiers to dribbling on the triggers. Possibilities are endless, honestly. I'm excited to see what they've done. I'm not trying to label anyone, I'm speaking to the mass population who play Live and are assuming things without knowing the facts (none of us do at this point) -- so let's just be patient and wait for the information to trickle down.

Littman has done wonders for the NHL series.

He played in the NHL. Does that mean he doesn't know anything about hockey.

No doubt... I understand we are all nervous about the latest news but again like I said we said just wait it out and see what's up before speculating that a guy doesn't have enough knowledge for basketball. For the Creative Directer standpoint, I think he will be a great addition for the series, he knows people want a realistic simulation of the sport and knows how to deliver as seen with the NHL series. Majority of the team of last years game is still there and they want to continue to make a realistic simulation and so does David. This will help them and not hurt them, he is bringing them new features and tech and wants to continue what they have been trying to do and make a realistic simulation.

Along with what Czar said what about the current team's latest work reassures you that the current Live team will deliver? I am basing my reserved worrying on the fact that a new guy added to the team and suddenly Live started heading ultra sim starting w/09 and culminating w/Live 10 out of the box. Then new guy left and subsequently two patches were released by the current team which drove the game away from the sim-ness. This makes me nervous, not panicking (yet) but definitely nervous. Then add what Czar said I am getting a little antsy. Maybe I am wrong and the old-new guy didn't drive the sim-ness but until I know otherwise I am nervous!

I'm looking forward to this series as a fan of basketball. I understand what he is saying with the "half-court" shot thing...say somebody like LeBron who has the ability to hit one at the end of quarters from time to time...I'm sure he is not talking about an NBA Jamesque style of play. I actually think that NBA Elite 11 may be a great basketball game. They are going to implement their version of the shot stick as well.

Let's just wait and see what happens before we go and push a panic button.

Czar I see what you saying...but give the guy a chance. I know the bball isn't hockey, but keep in mind...nhl 10 is/was (was because it's almost time for the new one) a great game, so honestly, I think it's a good chance that Live...err elite, could be a classic series like MVP was half-decade plus ago.

I'm looking forward to this...it'll be the 1st year I buy both EA and 2k's bball efforts in the same year in a while, so let's get it.

Don't understand the flak regarding the new name. How is "Live" anymore a part of the basketball vernacular than "Elite"? The only problem is see is going with 11, as though its not a fresh start, instead of 2011 or just plain NBA Elite. Everything else is "wait & see".

New guy by the name of Mike Wang? Mike Wang did help the series but nowhere near the amount people make it to be. He is one guy and I can assure the current team that released the patch was also the current team on 09-10. They built the game into a realistic simulation and want to continue that. Just because Mike and Stephenson left everyone is proclaiming Elite dead, Stephenson got offered a position that he wanted and took it and Mike felt home-sick and went back to 2K, two developers don't make or break a series, an entire team does that and where their focus is, and their focus is simulation. They still have the majority of the team that made Live 09-10 great and want to continue to make a simulation experience. Also how did the two patches drive the game away from simulation experience? Yes, I agree the patch wasn't complete but didn't take anything away, just added some glitches.

When is the last time you watch a game in which one team spent the entire game driving into the lane regardless of defensive presence, diving into the defender and drawing fouls all within first 10-15 seconds of shot clock? I've PM chatted w/users here on the subject as well as googled impressions of the patches and that seems to be consensus impressions. I am by no means a Mike Wang disciple if anything I was afraid he would bring too much 2K to Live. However the pattern I observed is the one I stated. While he was there Live was going one way when he left it went another coincidence or not.

Sure there are ways to stop that but in reality a sim game would recognize that the defense is standing or loading up in the paint and shoot the open jumper. Post patch Live you can sag all the way off your check down to the smile line and and at least 50% or higher the CPU player is driving the lane. That's just one example. Not trying to argue my question to you was what about the current status of Live reassures you they will deliver a sim experience? Apparently the answer is you feel the current Live IS very sim, correct?

I do feel that Live is sim, very sim no, but it's getting there and that's the whole point of my post. It is going to continue going sim. I don't understand when say Mike was taking Live one way and now it's going another? The team's focus is sim with or without Mike and his direction.

This game is going to be scrutinized and looked at under a microscope no matter what you say.

Why?

1. Past lives have been garbage

2. NBA Live 10 released a couple of patches that messed up the gameplay

3. People got BURNED buying the NCAA game and left to rot with it

4. Its EA, they haven't had a great reputation this gen in this sport

5. Its a new team and people are tired of hearing next year

6. Its a crucial year, and EA really has to prove themselves

7. Another major change which has happened almost every year of the series.

I dont think people are panicking at all, but from what you already know, they dont really trust EA and thats just the truth.


At this point after losing the NCAA series this is a crossroad for this series and sorry to say until proved otherwise people are not going to just give out the full benefit of the doubt without reason
