The NCAA as a developmental breeding ground is a fairly recent phenomenon.

So, while the NCAA may be the American equivalent of the CHL now (which I would debate strongly), this is a fairly new development. The NCAA did not produce a fraction of the players it does now. Hence, the reason I cited my age being the reason I felt that way.

That's not "putting down" the NCAA, it's stating a simple fact. Fact being that their relative relation compared to the CHL in the pre-2000 was a joke.

I went on to say that while it does little for me in terms of playability, it does offer more increased access to players and watching them develop which is cool.

Further, I also said that while the school may be represented, the players are still considered amateur and thus cannot be accurately depicted in the game. Saying that was not a knock on the level of hockey, but on the NCAA stranglehold on player rights.

I like that the NCAA is added. It just isn't anything that will add value to me because they can't use the real players.

I'd suggest educating yourself in what players have played NCAA hockey before slagging it. You might be pretty surprised at some of what you find.

I'm hoping EA would allow a locker-type feature for users to share "adjusted" NCAA rosters so that your closing point would be rendered moot. At the least, people will be able to edit the players they'll know belong to their teams.

The early news has been so impressive, I'd love to start getting some details about all this stuff.

Again, I'm not "slagging" it. I'm used to a different paradigm where the NCAA was the last place NHL scouts looked for talent.

As for "educating" myself, I know of the big name players that came from the league. But the simple fact remains - in the 90's the league was approximately comprised 10% NCAA. Today it's nearly a full third.

Calling it a recent trend is not attacking it. I come from a different generation where the NCAA was not stocked with talent.

The NCAA needs to change some of it's archaic laws. The world has changed. These athletes should be allowed to put their likenesses in games should they wish.

You can only use custom rosters in Online Dynasty. You cannot use actual rosters for simple online play. It'll keep the names, where applicable, but it will default to EA Rosters/Ratings/Depth Chart.

It does this so that both parties don't have to download the roster AND to avoid some idiot making an all-99 team.

An college hockey game from EA Sports, GOD I hope it happens I want to use BC. Hopefully it's like NCAA football and madden were u can start a palyer in the college game then transfer him over to the pro game

I can understand people getting there hopes up and all. But I highly doubt NCAA Hockey would be a sku of its own and not just added to the NHL game. In a recession where EA's overall profits are down, and that their current strategy is to produce less titles of a higher quality, I just don't see it happening. College titles tend to sell far less than the professional leagues.

this would be a dream come true for me. heck, i'd be thrilled if they just included Hockey East (Go BU Terriers!!!) and maybe some of the historic college hockey traditions like the Beanpot tourny. of course, i am a die hard college hockey fan, so i wouldn't expect the casual nhl fan to share my excitement for this news

I just can't see a NCAA Hockey game selling that well on it's own. It'll have to be part of the NHL franchise, now if they'll only add the KHL too. Yeah, I know hell will freeze over before that happens but it's a nice dream to have.

I don't think an NCAA game would do well on it's own, but if it was added in to NHLxx as a game mode that could be played like Be a GM, that would be awesome.
Finally i could get my Badgers to the playoffs myself!
