    Commentator Discussion Thread

I have heard and tend to agree that the commentating is getting a bit stale after years of the same commentating crew in The Show. So I beg the question:

Who would you want to commentate in MLB The Show 11'?

My vote goes for Joe Buck. I think he has an awesome voice for sporting events and whenever I hear him I know its either a big game or the game of the week.

Vin Sculley was in the old MLB series. Get Tom Hamilton and Rick Manning. And don't even mention Hawk Harrelson and Steve Stone. Don't want to hear, " He gone!"

Man I have heard from many people they don't like him but I think he's the best broadcaster going. I know I may take some heat for this but Vin Scully has helped me out so much when i'm having a tough time falling asleep. I know he's "old-school standing around the radio listening to a baseball game" but i'm not much into him and I am a die-hard baseball purist. After second thought he would kinda be interesting in the game. Btw I also like the guy who does the Reds games ( can't think of his name) but I remember he used to be a prime-game broadcaster. I wonder what happened to him to get "demoted"?? Chip wouldn't be bad as you mention it ( I know it was a joke but I like the idea)

Steve Stone is a lot better than the Hawk. Coming from a White Sox fan.

"Swing and a drive, wayyyyy back and gone!" A classic Tom Hamilton call. The best MLB radio announcer IMHO.

bob uecker would be awesome, but there is no way. i am pretty tired of the same commentating ever year too. nothing like matt v saying the 3rd base coach is doing some skip to my lou. lol. a new lineup of commentators would be great, but i doubt that mlb 11 will have anything different commentating wise. to tell u the truth, i would mind seeing joe buck or joe morgan or anyone like that.

most of the national commentators are pretty good, but i'm a pirates fan, and i think we have the best announcers in the biz. tim neverett has been awesome since coming from colorado. steve blass has been a pittsburgh favorite forever, and i like him. bob walk and greg brown seem to work together nicely, and they know a lot about baseball. and john wehner is cool, but he is a pretty average color commentator with a sweet voice. i still miss lanny frattare, but what the pirates got now is pretty decent. i'm not 100% sure about most other teams announcers, but i'd have to say the pirates announcing crew is very good and respectable. i wouldn't mind seeing the espn crew doing it with joe morgan and co.

most people asked this question will just pick their teams announcers.
I think the show guys know whats up, they will get it done.
                          I trust them this time.
Weren't the commentators in the show local California guys?
i think thats why they picked them many years ago, easy to work with being local and all.

MLB network is the stop to pick up MLB THE SHOW 10's crew, I think.

re: Joe buck -- I like him, but his skills have declined as his ego has grown. He's better doing football than baseball, so I think some of the problem is the McCarver Effect.

As for the Show's announcers, I still have a soft spot for Kruk and Kuip. I watch Giants games when I get a chance just because of how good they are together. But having them do The Show would just send the MVP-ites into a frenzy, so it could be a bad idea.

Whichever direction they go, a two-man booth is the ideal scenario. Three is too many for baseball, and one can get very dry. A lot of what makes Vin Scully great in real life is the stories and the long tangents, and those can't really be replicated in a video game without getting incredibly repetitive. And without those elements, a one-man booth is very dry.

I agree with this. HR should definately be a color commentator because I feel he's one of the best analysts in the game; Matt has an awesome baseball voice so I think he should stay. If anything, I would just pick guys from the MLBN crew and mimick a little of their presentation.
