not unless they changed his ratings in a recent roster update that i wasn't playing with when i checked it earlier today.

bouwmeester (4th year in a row ) and raymond are the fastest unless i missed someone.

Probably doesn't matter since almost every skater moves the same and theres no differential in the speed of the skaters.

            Re: Fastest player?

there is a diff, it's just not pronounced enough

I can really tell the difference between guys in the mid 80's and mid 90's

that being said, guys in the mid 90's don't blow past guys in the low 70's nearly enough

Just like football, it is really hard to rank speed in the NHL because rarely does a skater have the chance to show off his full speed because of defensive pressure and lack of open ice.

With that said, I'd say the "fastest" players in the NHL are the ones that are quick, agile and can accelerate the fastest.

This debate is truly a waste of every second that it takes to discuss it...but...

Bure...check out his 4th goal he scores in the Nagano game in which he scores 5 goals. You can You Tube the game highlights.

Its the fastest I've ever seen a hockey player skate.

Most players have extremely comparable speed because you have to be fast to play in the NHL at all these days...but there are standouts of course, and personally I think NHL 10 did a pretty admirable job of differentiating speed and skill, exept for the fact that all players are capable of all the same moves. That still leaves a bit to be desired.

But people who say that all the players are completely alike annoy the living hell out of me, to be quite blunt about it.

Oh for sure, the best skater of all time was Bure. But currently it's a toss up. On the ice I don't think there is enough differentiation, how can Hal Gill backskate as fast as me trying to take a corner on him.

                          all time?

Bure was speedy, but I'm not sure I'd say he was best skater of all time

the best skater of all time is probably Paul Coffey.

in his prime Mark Messier also had blazing speed

                          pure straightaway speed tho?

                          Geoff Sanderson

Patrick Marleau seems real fast to me in this game when i'm playin online with the Sharks. He seem to get all kinds of chances/breakaways. Not sure what his ACC and SPEED attributes are at but he stands out quite a bit.

Actually in the 09 All-Star Game Gaborik won fastest skater, I think the lapped the rink in 13.9 seconds.

I also find this to be true, he's very fast but his stats are mediocre for his level of speed, in-game and IRL
