Re: Madden NFL 11 Introduces Online Scouting
I dont agree with this at all!LOLOf course though it figures that EA comes up with a kill-two-birds-with-one-stone idea for online play and instead of seeing the upside of it all people can do is look at the negative, that you have to pay for it, even though you can pay for it WITH VIRTUAL COINS YOU EARN AND IT DOES NOT COST ONE SINGLE *REAL* PENNY....but then why let any common sense get in the way of a chance to EA bash huh?
I understand where you are coming from with the kill two birds with one stone reference but the stone is non-lethal to both birds in this case. They are trying to allegedly add a scouting system while also incentiving people to play and complete more online games. However, this does nothing to address the main reason people dont play or complete more online games,IMO!LOL
I feel like they need to address the core NFL football gameplay aspects that dont work correctly but if this is what the devs have chosen to do instead,it should be done differently.Sure you want to know if someone is a cheeser or a glitcher before you play them but that's mainly so you can avoid playing them. The concept that people will play and complete more games just to gain "coins" to scout other people is not the most effective stratergy,IMO.If a player is "straight up" meaning they dont glitch or cheese, they normally dont quit or disconnect anyway unless their frustrated with playing a glitcher or cheeser.
IMO,they would slaughter both birds by making it FREE and unconditional because everyone could use it to avoid the players they dont want play and therefore maximizing the features affect on people to play and complete more online ranked, unranked and franchise games.
That's not "EA bashing" in IMO but common sense.
In the words of Ricky Bobby,"With all due respect.....",some of you guys really demonstrate that ignorance really can be blissful!LOL
I not questioning anyones' intellect,I mean some people just not knowing when they are getting sloppy seconds.I guess if someone had never eaten pizza and they were given cheese toast with pepperoni, they would like that just fine too!LOL
Madden is currently the only NFL licensed game but this has not always been the case.To be better informed consumers,we should all at least internet search past NFL video games titles and their features. That way we will all be better aware of when a company is turning on the sprinklers and telling us it's rain.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Introduces Online Scouting
Just a bad move by EA (I won't say the Madden team). It's about perception. People don't like almost unlocking a potentially solid feature only to find out you have to pay for it if you want the full capabilities.
Either it should be free or you have to play more online games to unlock the feature. This extra pay stuff really has no business in a $60 annual football title.-Rocky Balboa"Maybe I can't win. Re: Madden NFL 11 Introduces Online Scouting
There is no extra pay. You earn the coins by completing online games which can be used for the scouting reports instead of real money. Using real money or MS Points are optional.Just a bad move by EA (I won't say the Madden team). It's about perception. Re: Madden NFL 11 Introduces Online Scouting
Would have been a cool free feature. Remember when your $60 covered all the new features? I remember when $20 covered it. Good times.
And for ps3??? If this is free, and an award for playing online games, then its a nice addition.Last edited by wheelman990; 06-02-2010, 03:42 PM.Comment

sloppy seconds?.. i mean some can call it Vip 2.0 ... but i just remembered if u actually play online ... Madden had its own version of scouting before the game ... granted they didn't let u play against the comp as if they was u ... but they told u the % of the other person blitzing the % of the person throwing the ball ... i'm guessing thats Vip?.. thats sloppy seconds?.. i bet if madden would of left the scouting like it was last year you wouldn't have anything to say but since they made it better theres a problem now ...

Re: Madden NFL 11 Introduces Online Scouting
I would think that the same thing would apply to both consoles.
Originally posted by Jon Robinson (ESPN videogames)But how do you unlock these scouting reports? "Madden" producer Phil Frazier provides the details: "Scouting is a consumable. So you earn coins in every online game that you play as long as you don't quit or disconnect. You can then spend these coins on scouting reports or other things within the game (gamers will also be able to use real money to buy coin packs or scouting packs, but the prices are not final). It's the same economy that drives 'Madden Ultimate Team.' So you can literally be playing 'Madden Ultimate Team' online, earn some coins, then turn around and either buy a pack of cards or a scouting pack. The economy drives a lot more this year than just 'Madden Ultimate Team, but we're not talking dollars per scouting report here. You're earning these coins by playing 'Madden' online, so this isn't a money-grab for us. This is about building up your online skills. We're trying to provide a competitive advantage and we're presenting it to you in a way that's authentic to the sport of football.'"-MattComment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Introduces Online Scouting
People who quit are just going to quit. It's an emotional response. Doesn't Madden provide the ability to forfiet after you are behind? I seem to recall that from the last time I played online in Madden '07. I never minded when others forfeited. I actually liked that better than APF2K8 because there was no way to forfeit in APF2K8 and players did actually disconnect a lot.For you guys complaining about having to pay even virtual coins for these reports, do you not realize that this is in our benefit to have it this way? Encouraging people to stick with games and finish to get coins is a great idea. Just making the reports free would only accomplish half of what this is trying to do. Not only is this allowing you to get a scouting report, it's encouraging people to quit just disconnecting from games, something almost all of us have always complained about.
I loved the VIP feature in 2K's game, and I'm sure I'll like it in Madden as well. Hope there's something like that available for the offline franchise when we play (some way to scout our opponents would be a neat addition). Now if I were playing online, I wouldn't want to have to pay $$$ simply to have it available at any time however. Just give us the feature and let us use it.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Introduces Online Scouting
You should check out VIP and other features from past games even last-gen Maddens.Im not proclaiming just one superior game from the past,we should all do some due dilegence on a variety of them.sloppy seconds?.. i mean some can call it Vip 2.0 ... but i just remembered if u actually play online ... Also, you might want to re-read what you posted. It sounds like to me,you are sticking up for EA putting back a feature that was already in past Maddens free and unconditional that now has been spliced up and has to be bought or earned in Madden 11.However,that's ok with you because now it has been upgraded to use in-game and I would have nothing to say if EA had just continued to leave scouting like it was instead of improving it.LOL
Are you serious? This is the part where Ashton Kutcher runs out!LOL
You are ding dang right I would have no problem with free and unconditional pregame scouting rather than this!I actually spoke up for the old scouting system in the Gameplan/Gameflow thread.
What actually are the improvements you are refering to in the new scouting feature that justify having to buy or earn it,rather than making it free and unconditional like the last scouting report you were refering to?Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Introduces Online Scouting
OH NO!! ... r u serious u have to play the game to get creds!?!?!? THATS JUST CRAZY!! ... its obvious u didn't read the article u seen a new feature an thought "y not go bash ea" ... but if u must no ur able to scout during the game ... not only do they give u if they pass or run they tell u where they pass (deep left deep right mid etc) ... but if earning something is so much of a problem for u then sounds like .... well a personal problem ...You should check out VIP and other features from past games even last-gen Maddens.Im not proclaiming just one superior game from the past,we should all do some due dilegence on a variety of them.
