No surprise there. Bias/bad review/only because no NFL license/IGN are EA fanboys in 5...4...3...2...1...

EDIT: I feel the review is pretty accurate, they touch on all the complaints I see the most frequently on this board. I hope BB2 is better because I really do love the physics/animation.

After playing the demo I said I was bummed that instant replay lacked options and that the music was repetitive. Someone on this forum said that both would be fixed in the retail game. Sounds like they were not.

      Edit: G4 gave Backbreaker a 3 out of 5.
      EA: Please add in-game saves.

I really don't get the replay thing. Why put so much effort into phyics/animation and then hide it from the player? Maybe they're masking something?

Alot of the review is based on him not knowing how to play. But overall I gave the game a 5 so I can't argue too much.

First review I have seen that didn't mention the known high INT numbers by the AI.

More like not enjoying the game enough to learn how to play it. But anyway, I think they do have a good base for BB2 and can really improve next year's version.

Saw this on another forum posted by Brian P. not sure if he is on here or not. But does anyone really think that if the Competition goes with all physics based games and has the license that anyon will care to pick up a BB2. In reality custom leagues and team creation would then be the only thing seperating the 2 (in the positive column for BB2).

No idea, you think with such a great physics engine they would have a great or at least an "average" replay mode. You see so many cool things in this game, yet we get a barebones replay mode and we can't share anything with the world.

My initial thoughts when I heard you couldn't switch replay angles (pre-demo) was that they wanted to hide AI problems. When I saw you couldn't do it in the demo it added some more validity to that in my mind. Now that the retail game is out and you still can't do it, on top of the fact that you can't upload replays, it seems pretty clear that they wanted to make sure the AI problems didn't get exposed all across the internet and become a fiasco like we've seen happen with other sports games over the years. I don't blame them for that thinking however, sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.

As far as the review score goes, well, I'm not surprised at all. I said the press would bury them and they are. But I don't know how anyone couldn't have seen this coming. Regardless of mag reviews, I think the game is fun to play and the foundation is very solid. Like I said before, in 2 more cycles this game could be the best, it's just not ready in the present time.

I'm going to rent it this week. But I agree with watcher. The game does have solid foundation for future games. I'm sure some of these issues with the game will get ironed out with a few patches updates in the near future. But this game is going to be fun to play. I will rent it for now and buy it when it goes down in price later on. But I do have hope for future BB games because of this one. Remember no game is perfect.

Absolutely. A solid foundation is the way you transform a good game into a great game. I really think these guys will listen to all the critiques and swing for the bleachers in BB2.

I really don't get a couple of his complaints though, saying juking takes too long to pull off and complaining about having to use the focus button on defense for example.

I find jukes very easily to pull off and have alot of success using them. Why should a juke only take a split second, that is not realistic to me at all. Also I really don't see his argument that focus takes away control while on defense. How so? Your player moves exactly the same when holding focus as when your not.

To be honest once you start noticing keys on defense like certain formations and the movement of blockers, you really don't even need to use focus most of the time on defense.

I think he left out more legitimate and pressing complaints like CPU AI INTS and instead put in a couple things that I find to be non issues or very minor.

The other complaints are pretty common and valid though, I agree with them, even if I disagree with the final rating.

I think the review is around a 7.3 instead of a 5.0. Tackle Alley alone is super fun and puts the game over a 5.0 rating. I think Madden 06 and Madden 07 definitely deserved a 5.0. And who gives a crap if it's a company from Britain delivering a football game, that is a crock of horse boo boo and I'm tired of people bringing it up. They could be from Thailand as far as I'm concerned it doesn't matter.

Calm down dude. It's a review about a football video game. Everything is going to be ok. The review is very fair if you ask me. I honestly don't see how people expected high reviews for this game, that alone kind of blows my mind.
