Re: NCAA Football 11 Dynasty Blog 3 of 3 - Recruiting Logic and Extras
Why? CH2K8 did it perfectly, they kept it simple yet realistic. Don't you ever get tired of Joe Paterno coaching 20 years into your dynasty? When teams struggle they should fire their coaches, especially teams like Notre Dame.Well, as you titled your situation as hypothetical, I'm not going to rip you for these predictions, but I think there would be a balance to the way these things shake out in the Big Ten and elsewhere. I do not think Ohio State would ever turn into a perennial 6-6 type team because of the tradition and facilities there. OSU will always have a recruiting pull that a team like Purdue will most likely never have. The style changes, for Michigan and Penn State, would probably be the most accurate thing about your theory, I can see a successful coach implementing his system and school's styles changing. There also has to be a logic system implemented for coaches similar to the logic of a recruit when it comes to signing with a school. Why would Bob Stoops ever leave Oklahoma for Purdue? What would make a successful Jim Tressel want to leave Ohio State? Why would Urban Meyer leave the recruiting hotbed of Florida for Michigan? There have to be reasons behind the changes.
Not being mean here lol, just trying to improve on your theory.
On that note, I don't know if I would want coaching changes in this game because it would take a while to get it right.
Also, on my third point of this post, the addition of half tackles and half sacks is even more promising when you consider that it may have something to do with locomotion and new tackling animations or new tackling engines?
The system they have in now is just unrealistic, which is why everyone was hoping for a coaching carousel.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 11 Dynasty Blog 3 of 3 - Recruiting Logic and Extras
Have you seen the state of Michigan football right now? Texas before Mack Brown got there? Oklahoma before Stoops got there? USC before Carroll got there?
I know what you're saying, though. "Perennial" isn't what I was going for, just using that as an example of if and when a big-time coach left a big-time program, that program would experience some trouble.
Money? Challenge? Didn't Meyer have a clause in his Utah contract that one of his dream jobs was Michigan? (That's why I used that example.)Why would Bob Stoops ever leave Oklahoma for Purdue? Completely agree. I was just answering the other poster's question about what coaching carousel is and why it would be a cool addition to Dynasty. The point of my hypothetical was just to show the sorts of changes that would take place, and how it would keep things interesting. Rather see a team like Ohio State fall off the map because Tressell left than have them fall off the map for no good reason at all, for instance, and rather a team like Purdue turn into a powerhouse because they landed a Stoops-type coach than "because the recruiting engine says so," etc.On that note, I don't know if I would want coaching changes in this game because it would take a while to get it right.Comment

Yeah, but the game can't really simulate the way that coaches have dreams lol. Plus, without an AD mode, money cannot be considered an issue. This is why, with the current limitations of the game, Bob Stoops would most likely never have the logic to go to Purdue. The idea of creating a challenge would not appeal to a computer controlled coach, because it cannot self-actualize. There is no self-awareness, or desire to create a legacy or prove anything to itself. I'm not ripping your points in a real life scenario, because I do understand those motives. But, in the game, those motives cannot exist because they are formed out of human nature, which can never really be simulated by a game.Have you seen the state of Michigan football right now? Texas before Mack Brown got there? Oklahoma before Stoops got there? USC before Carroll got there?

Now, on that note, there could be a system where a coach could have a profile, where they give importance to certain "pitches" just like a recruit. (Money, Program Status, Program Tradition, Program Prestige, etc.) So a coach may not care about going to a program with a lack of tradition like Purdue, which would improve the likelihood of a coach like Bob Stoops going to Purdue.....
So many ideas, so little time...
Also, @Gosens, I didn't say I wouldn't ever want Coaching Changes, I just think that at this point, because there has been no news of it, CC would not have been developed to the level that the community would expect, therefore creating disappointment and a stale shell of what it could be.My Teams:

Re: NCAA Football 11 Dynasty Blog 3 of 3 - Recruiting Logic and Extras
Yeah but how would you know who Jim Tressel is in the game if he quits OSU and goes to another school? I mean I guess you'd see "BUCKS COACH" or whatever he's called as the new coach at Miss. State or whatever but how dumb would that be? I guess if we ever get Coaching Carousel then we will have to get all of the coaches named as well in order for it to make any logical sense.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

If they got coaching carousel could they just pay the coaches to put them in the game? Would they have to negotiate with each coach individually or is there some sort of coaching union or something they could just sign the rights to use?Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Ok hopefully this will shed a bit of light for those who didn't hear of it or forgot about it.
The reason that EVERYONE (on here, on PastaPadre, and NCAA Strategies) is clamoring for Coaching Carousel is because it's (and AD mode) the only feature that hasn't been confirmed from the leaked survey from last November on PP.
Here are the confirmed features for NCAA (or Madden) leaked from that survey:
1. Locomotion
2. 120 Ways to win combines about 3-4 features from the list
3. ESPN Presentation
4. 30+ team specific entrances
5. Signature coaching plays relayed to you over the headset (Madden)
6. Streamlined play calling (Madden)
Here are the features that have NOT yet been confirmed:
1. Coaching Carousel
2. AD mode w/ Stadium Builder
3. Play from QB point of view
4. Active real-life coaches and coordinators on the sidelines
In the survey it states "at the end of the season, if they (coach) leave then their play style leaves with them and you have to hire quick from the pool of coaches to ensure good recruiting". So to me these recruiting tweaks HAVE to tie into this bigger system or it's just a slap in the face to all of us gamers.
I mean imagine you're playing with Kent State you’ve built a quality program, your coach leaves and you're struggling to sign top-notch coaches and you're left with John Thompson (former UF coordinator and ECU coach). That would be awesome.Comment

don't need to. Just allow us to edit the names much like the players. You may already be able to do this now, never checked on next gen.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

you can it'd be good if they allowed us to do it outside of dynasty though so it could be saved with roster file and sharedComment

Re: NCAA Football 11 Dynasty Blog 3 of 3 - Recruiting Logic and Extras
i'm almost positive for ncaa basketball you were able to edit the coach via roster, just in dynasty i don't think it keep the name don't rememberComment

Some of you guys are making the implementation of a Coaching Carousel sound waaaaaaaaaaaaay more complicated than it is.
College Hoops 2k series did it..and did it extremely well.
"Well, what good is it if you don't have the real coaches?"....because you can EDIT THE COACHES.
Just like the roster, you can edit all the coaches to be the real coaches with real coaching tendencies then save the file. It's already been DONE on College Hoops 2k8.AUBURN TIGERS

I followed your example the whole way and agree with you that coaching changes could be done and it would be neat to see. It is not that important to see why a coach left a school, but the fact that he did leave/retire/pass away/etc. I think it would add an element to the game, if it was connected to their own unique styles. Give them fake names like players with the ability to change their name or not change their name, would you not know who they were anyway?Hypothetical: You're controlling at team from the Big Ten.
Now let's say Michigan never gets it going with RichRod and continues to struggle. After two seasons, he's out, and Urban Meyer is in.
Meanwhile, Ohio State continues to dominate the conference, but out of nowhere, Tressel heads off to coach, whoever ... let's say Texas A&M. Ohio State hires some "up and comer" from the MAC.
In another surprising move, Purdue has managed to lure Bob Stoops away from Oklahoma.
And in the real shocker, Rich Rodriguez lands of all places at Penn State to replace the now-retired Joe Paterno.
Now let's cut to five years later ...
Michigan = Florida
Penn State = West Virginia (RichRod era)
Ohio State = 6-6 type team
Texas A&M = Ohio State
Purdue = three straight conference titles, perennial top 5
Obvious just a quick off-the-top-of-my-head example, but that would be the idea, and, imo, it would be awesome.Comment

I sincerely hope there not done for offline dynasty either. Because if a coaching carousel is not in, I will be greatly dissapointed. I've pretty much given up on an Athletic Director mode making it's debut, but I am all for EA to give me a shocking announcement announcing it's arrival! I also hope they get updated Dynasty presentation is as well.MLB: New York Yankees

I really hope this new recruiting logic is implemented well and not just a first step to be perfected a year or two down the road. This could make recruiting the nail-biting experience it should be, not just a foregone conclusion that I'll have a top-10 class every year.Comment
