    Re: Brett Farve ....

Sometimes the team you are makes you look better then you actually are.

But he looked A LOT better then his play with the JETS. He didn't tend to just throw the ball out there like Brett likes to do.

He has to be the luckiest QB I have ever seen play the game. Maybe his next career should be playing Texas Holdem professionally or something.

That's a good question, He has been a 97, 95, 94 etc but to be honest it seems its because of the drama and age he brings.

Think of it like this......He had the best year of his career , and still is not a top 5 QB in the nfl.

He was doing extremely well but i think it might have been the stretched ratings that affected why he didn't get a 95+ rating like other years. Also as stux pointed out his team had a lot to do with his success.

Didn't he have a shoulder (arm) surgery that he'd been putting off for years last year?

The ratings on QB is just basically going off comparison .

If example Rodgers , Rivers, and Brady are a 94 or 95.
Those 3 are all better QB's then Favre even though oddly he had a better season . And that is being part of a great Offensive Unit. But Favre won't be rated close to any of them for that fact.

Because when he won an MVP and played in two superbowls, something he did not do last year, he was younger, had more arm strength and mobility. OVR is just that, a rating of your overall. Favre was great last year, a super hero. However, Bret Favre in his prime was Superbowl winning league MVP Bret Favre. This is one player where experience only goes so far. Part of Favre's magic is his ability to improvize and pure luck. There was a special about favre's backups by NFL films a few years ago. In that special Matt Hasselbeck talked about a time with Holmgren made two tapes. One tape was of Favre highlights. the second tape was of interceptions. They showed the same thing. Favre is a gun slinger. He takes risks and makes plays. He is exciting to watch play. That's why we "all love Bret Favre." remove yourself from team hatred, and tell me that Favre isn't fun to watch. I hate that he beat my 49ers in the playoffs, but darnit is he good.

I think one of the main reasons is his age. Plus he has alot of talent around him to make him look good. I doubt he would of look as good if he didn't have all that talent around him. But age is one of the main factors in that.

The ratings in this game over series are stupid tbf. I was playing Madden 07 last night and Rex Grossman was rated 85.

                        Re: Brett Farve ....

Are some of you serious?? The Vikings had no passing game AT ALL until favre, and they have tried many QB's. Yes, the Vikings have great receivers, but who knew until Favre?? The jets last year were on a roll, until his shoulder issue's. The actually were playoff bound by a wide margin until very late in the season.

I know favres a gun slinger, a risk taker, but hes EASILY a 90+ QB right now. Theres to much hate going on with favre. Keep it real, old and not in his prime just isnt realistic. 2 of his last 4 years have been his ALL TIME best statistically. The jets year was actually gokng pretty well until the shoulder so it is what it is.

I'm not really huge Brett Favre fan, but saying Aaron Rogers should be rated higher is REDICULOUS! Some say Brett is a product of players around him? Look at Rogers receivers! Arguably the best receiver core out there right now.

If Favre doesnt start at least a 91 rating, the Madden ratings are a joke! Were talking about a player mentioned as a MVP candidate.

Ive seen players have 1 good year in the middle of there carrear and get 95+ ratings in Madden. Sorry, theres some ignorancein the Favre ratings. Many say hes washed up, boy has he proved you guys wrong. How about we rate him for his on the feild play, and not on if "we think" hes old, washed up, and out of his prime.

Totally agree. Other consistently overrated players: Bulger and all the current WRs on the Rams. Amendola and Avery are monsters in the game. Not really the case IRL.

The favre thing happens every year. Back in '07, I think he was rated like an 88 out of the box. Then he had a monster season taking the team to the NFC championship, and his rating started to creep up to what should be expected.

If you really want to have an accurate rating, then there should be a choking at big moments in big games rating. That would really bring the overall back to where it belongs.
