Week 1 New York @ Bristol Bay
Jets Get Shaken!
This game was a low scoring, grinned it out game type of game, with the defenses holding both offenses to a combined 5 for 25 on 3rd downs. In the end it was The Vipers defense who stepped up.
Fabian Washington playing in his first game with Bristol Bay came up with the only turnover in the game. The Vipers failed to convert on 4th and 2 on The Jets 38 yard line with just over 2 minutes left. The Jets were moving the ball against The Vipers defense with almost no resistances on their way into field goal range, when The Vipers coach called an all out blitz, forcing Sanchez to make up his mind before he wanted to. Sanchez threw to the only player who was double covered (Homles), because he was double covered it allowed Fabian Washington to take a chances instead of playing it safe. Washington went for the pick, he out jumped Homles for the ball, giving The Vipers another chance to win the game with just over 1:43 and 3 timeouts.
Jay Randolph and The Vipers offense drove down the field, wasting The Jets timeouts in the process. They stalled at the 25 yard line but it was close enough for Oliver Lacy, who was 2/2 on the game and both of his kicks were over 45 yards. The Vipers pull off a big victory 16-13 over The Jets. This was the first game that they did not allowed 20+ points.
Rookies Patrick Hunter and Darron Tucker gave this team the much needed lift. Patrick Hunter lead the team with 9 tackles, and Tucker added 4 tackles, and a sack.
Rookie running back J.T McKenzie was knocked out during the 2nd quarter and will miss the next 2 week with an abdominal tear. Tyrone Smith his back up played well in his absence, 42 yards rushing on 12 rushes.
