Man if that demo plays anything like the gold version I will be playing ARMA 2 operation Arrowhead more than I expected, you do realise ODOGG, that the passing AI defense is totally broke in this demo. Hook zones issue like 09 except worse, Run streak patterns in 4 wides the whole game on heisman and see how many times DBs lose complete awarness of their coverage assignment.

Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I disagree with the demo analysis. Last year, there were a lot of people who were upset about the same physics they were seeing and same game play. One thing I noticed, I had one second left in the half and one timeout left. For some reason it wouldnt let me call timeout either by hitting the select button or going to the pause menu.
I guess I'm in the minority because it does feel like an improvement but I'm not overwhelmed or overly impressed. Not trying to hate, I feel like we're still at 80% of last gen. No doubt that this is better than 10 (at least the demo is).
I'll be waiting to buy this though. Every year at OS, the hype off the demo is just like this, everyone is pumped. Then Day 1, everyone is pumped and saying how great it is, talking about highlights, uploading videos. About a week in, people start to see the shine come off and then the huge glitches are talked about and the shortcomings and the game leaves most of us disappointed.
Its a good demo for sure, but until I see a good bit of solid feedback on the retail version, I'm tempering my enthusiasm.
It's a much different and positive atmosphere this year.Comment

On Heisman the pass defense is fine to me. I see CPU and my AI defenders jumping routes, knocking down passes, etc. Passes over the middle are still too easy to complete as is the case with every EA football game on this gen of consoles. I wouldn't call it broken though."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

White Out - the on-the-field game looks fantastic to me, minus of course the lack of dreadlocks
So not sure what game you're looking at man. NCAA 11 is finally a good looking game for the most part, no "tricking myself" here. I say for the most part because we still need coaches, sidelines and the crowd improved greatly..but the on-field action looks great IMO..not grainy at all.
stevedrumsdw - I'm not seeing the issues you speak of on All-American. I don't play on Heisman. I hear complaints like you speak of about all sports games, not just EA's, and honestly wonder how you guys are playing the game to get the results you get. Until I see how to replicate on my console I don't waste time worrying about these sorts of issues as whatever it is you're doing, i'm not doing.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
OK, run 4 wide streaks on hesiman the entire game, when the ball is on the hashes, the DB's cover an area of the field in zones that makes no sense.
Rhombic describes this best:
BTW, the hook zone issue is basically a combination of the problems from '09 and last year. Part of it has to do with when the ball is on the hash marks. The players will still drop to incorrect locations unless a WR runs across their face. It's not as bad as it was last year, but it's clearly not fixed correctly. We'll see if it's in the final version. If so, then that's just hilarious. It would almost be better if they didn't do anything at all. Now it looks like they tried and are so clueless that they didn't realize that they hadn't fixed the problem.
Second, it appears that players in zone coverage in general are just not very aware of receivers in their area, and are not cognizant of the fact that they can no longer change direction on a dime. So you see routes developing and you as a human know that the defensive player needs to be entering "sprint as fast as you can to gain depth and play catch up" mode, but the CPU that is controlling the defender doesn't, which results in some big plays.
And as others have stated, the players on both sides appear to be completely ignorant of both first down and endzone markers. And defenders make no effort to get between the WRs and the ball, which is very reminiscent of the way zone coverage was on '09.

Well I am sorry , but some of you guys are not football people, zone coverages on this demo are a joke.White Out - the on-the-field game looks fantastic to me, minus of course the lack of dreadlocks

If that's true then it sucks. I'm not someone who cheeses so I'd never call 4-wide streaks the entire game. I'm not someone who goes glitch-hunting in sports games either, but if you play cheesers then this is a problem."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

I'd say anyone that runs 4 wide streaks all game is not a "football person"...as ehh said, if that's true then it sucks...but since I don't see 1,000 people on here barking about it, and trust me if it was true you'd see 1,000 people on here barking about it, I think you must have an agenda.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I did not go glitch hunting in this game, this is a clear problem that was prevelant in 09, and was better last year and now is worse than ever. DBs lose awareness and get turned around incredibly easily when in zone coverages,Comment

Glad I'm not the only one that's noticed the graphics.open question to the thread viewers:
Why in NCAA 11, in the year 2010.. with games MLB the show putting out eye popping graphics... does this game look so grainy? Honestly it's like the graphics in this series are going backwards.
The game play is familiar, and all these people saying how much it's improved with locomotion, what game are you playing? I frankly think that hype and lack of competition has put people into a mindset where they have to trick themselves or fool themselves into believing this game is getting better with each year.Currently Playing:

Didn't mean that comment as a a knock on you, it's obviously an issue. I meant that I don't find a glitch and exploit it over and over again."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
Running 4 streaks the whole game is something I was pointing out to you to do to get an understanding of how inept zone coverage schemes are on this game against streaks. I would never play this way, what fun is that. This is not a subjective issue, this is clealy the same problems we had with wide open gameplay except a horse of another color.I'd say anyone that runs 4 wide streaks all game is not a "football person"...as ehh said, if that's true then it sucks...but since I don't see 1,000 people on here barking about it, and trust me if it was true you'd see 1,000 people on here barking about it, I think you must have an agenda.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
In all due respect man, I don't think I have seen you post one positive thing about this demo. I am starting to feel that you have some sort of agenda as well.
I am just not seeing the broken zone coverages you are referring to and if they are broken, I don't think it is as bad as you are making out to be.
Also, why are you getting so worked up over a demo which we have already established to be a very early build of the game. Wait until the full game and then release your "firestorm"Comment

An agenda? Its called I want a good football game that does not have broken defensive AI, call that an agenda if you want.I'd say anyone that runs 4 wide streaks all game is not a "football person"...as ehh said, if that's true then it sucks...but since I don't see 1,000 people on here barking about it, and trust me if it was true you'd see 1,000 people on here barking about it, I think you must have an agenda.
