It's just a bad idea on the marketing side IMO. The Hawks got bounced in 5 in the WCF yet Kane gets on the cover? And Toews only has 3 assists in the finals and gets on?

Are you kidding me?
Toews...
-Had the most points in the playoffs (29) and tied the Hawks record
-Won the Stanley Cup
-Won the Gold Medal with Team Canada
-Won the Conn Smythe trophy
He deserves the cover. Period.Comment

I dont want to get into a St. Louis vs. Chicago thing cause you wont win that debate. There were a estimated 3.4 Million fans at the Cards World Series parade in 2006.
We love our Blues just as much, and when they win that first cup there will be atleast that 3 mil the Cards had, no less.
Blues have never won a cup and boy when this happens, crazyness...Comment

Re: NHL 11 Cover Athlete: Jonathan Toews
Am I the only one that thinks this whole "cover athlete" thing is WAAAAY overblown?
I'd be just as happy, and it'd be a lot cheaper for EA, if they simply put the NHL crest on the cover. I don't think ANYONE buys this game because of the cover athlete.
If you are interested in the NHL you buy the game, if you aren't you wouldn't recognize Toews if he was standing next to you at Best Buy.Comment

Re: NHL 11 Cover Athlete: Jonathan Toews
Maybe not. However, I would not buy a game because of who is on the cover. For instance, if a baseball game were to put a Yankee on the cover that game would then be a no buy for me. Why do you think The Show has never put a Yankee on the cover? Because they realize they are argueably the most hated sports team in the world, and that in turn could have an impact on sales. Just saying.Am I the only one that thinks this whole "cover athlete" thing is WAAAAY overblown?

That seems a bit foolish to me.
They could put Ru Paul on the cover of NHL 11 and i would still buy it.Comment

I am just happy we are back to a hockey pose on the cover.
I always felt like Patrick Kane was jumping out from behind a bush to scare me or something. My claim to fame? I started the most popular thread of all time on OS:
The Photographic Side of NCCAA11. It has now become an OS staple for several games.

Re: NHL 11 Cover Athlete: Jonathan Toews
Yeah this seems like a bit much. If Terrell Pryor was on the cover of NCAA, I'd just replace it with a custom cover. I hate that Toews is the cover athlete, but it certainly isn't going to keep me from buying what will likely be a great gameMaybe not. However, I would not buy a game because of who is on the cover.
