Re: Backbreaker Demo Available, Post Your Impressions Here
OMG!!! I just DLded the demo for ps3, this game is just awful IMO. I was so pumped to try it out but I just can't believe 505 would release the game in the state it's in. I assuming the final version is far better than the demo (I'm also asuming the 360 demo is far far better than the ps3 demo) because otherwise, well I don't know what to say, Im just shocked... I don't know where to begin.
I guess I'll start with the positives. Some of the hits and tackles are awesome, no denying that.
It actually feels like you're on the field with the camera angle but that also has it's negative points: The camera doesn't rotate when you scramble with the QB or run east-west with a HB so you just get dizzy and lost.
The playbooks are about as deep as a pop warner teams Pbook.
The run blocking is pretty poor.
I would go as far to say as the CPU offense is a disgrace.
The game is pretty much unplayable (my ps3 demo- maybe explains the delay).
I won't be buying the full version (not until it's reduced by 75% in price which shouldn't be too long) based off of the ps3 demo. Just awful.
The problem is Madden is looking like a NO buy aswell this year leaving me with no football game?!?!Comment

^^^^^^^ what are you talking about You need to use the focus Button . running is very easy in this game . passing is harder .Comment

Re: Backbreaker Demo Available, Post Your Impressions Here
Just got the PS3 demo and I am impressed. I actually did pretty well passing the ball and I love the running game. Defense also is a blast to play, as the camera angle really adds a new layer of depth.
I'm still on the fence about picking this up at full price, so perhaps I'll wait to see if it goes on sale. I know I will buy it at some point though.Currently Playing:

Re: Backbreaker Demo Available, Post Your Impressions Here
I don't know why some keep saying this...Both versions run at the same framerate....and both version have that same intended slow down at the end of plays (I requested this to be removed a couple of months ago at he main BB forums).
the only difference I see is when you play in different stadiums....playing in Amsterdam doesn't look as nice or consistent as playing in San Francisco...for PS3 version, I haven't tried the 360 version of other stadiums.
but when I had the demo for the 360 version and had my PS3 retail copy, I played both on the same stadium... San Francisco, with the same teams....and ran play after play....then I watched a replay of both at the same time by switching inputs....
only thing is I had to use component for the 360 (older version) but I don't think that would affect framerate.......also I adjusted my TV's picture settings for the PS3 version's input. They both looked and ran the same.....
now if the 360 demo is drastically different than the 360 retail version....then ok I can understand what some mean....but I don't think that is the case.Comment

Re: Backbreaker Demo Available, Post Your Impressions Here
The biggest problem with the passing game IMO is it doesn't scale well. Bad QBs are worse than bad, and degrade to the point where they wouldn't start on a high school team. In every football game ever created a poor QB usually just means you have to settle for the wide open safe throws, and in BB a poor QB means the ball lands as far as 15 yards from your intended target.
I had no problems passing and was having 200+ yard games in the relatively short demo, but then started a Road to Backbreaker game and it guts your team so that you have to work your way up and didn't have 200 yards passing in my first 3 games combined. I went several games calling exclusively running plays, bought a good QB, and now I am passing for 300 yards/game.
Bad QBs should have limited amount of focus per play/drive, or a more claustrophobic camera to simulate a lack of awareness, not simply be bad beyond the point of wondering how they'd ever become a QB even in a fictional league.Last edited by mestevo; 06-16-2010, 12:58 PM.Comment

it is easy to spot someone who is trolling compared to someone who is just criticizing.....
if you are worried about a troll ban, then maybe you were planning to troll.
if not, you should just post your impression, and if you have any questions about the game, just ask.
I wouldn't blame you to not want to go through every page looking for an answer.Comment

Re: Backbreaker Demo Available, Post Your Impressions Here
Ok, I'll give my thoughts.
It's unplayable for me. My first game the CPU threw an INT on every possession, got sacked 2 times a drive and missed wide open WRs. Every time I get a handoff or a pitch, my runner goes backward or sideways when I am pushing up on the stick, I feel I have no control of him. The tackles are cool in the replay but you can't see them live because of the camera angle, I couldn't see anything live really.
I'm glad some of you have the other option you desire but for me, it's not even football.
On a positive note, I like the kicking having some built in inaccuracy with the arrow swaying like it does. I would be fine if it actually swayed more.Comment

Re: Backbreaker Demo Available, Post Your Impressions Here
now, while INTs still happen in the final release game.......it is not as much for me because I play the best teams...imo, that makes a difference...
this is where NM messed up on their Demo....making it only 2QTRs....so if by chance someone plays against a BB team that has a low focused QB...it will bring up horrible results because in a 2min game, the CPU will try to throw alot more than it should....when it should be a balanced team or more run orientated team.....
so I don't know if you have tried.....but try playing against Indianapolis on medium or hard....it should yield better results, but still in a 2min game the CPU QB acts wonky.....well at least more wonky than the final released game....
in the full game, I play against the best teams when facing the CPU and usually get pretty tough games....i can't f around, and if I blitz and don't get there....CPU does a good job of popping me for a big gain....but that is just with the really good teams....the ones that are average to bad, will get embarrassed if you put constant pressure on them.Comment

Re: Backbreaker Demo Available, Post Your Impressions Here
I did just that and definitely noticed a difference. I was Charleston, I think, against Indy and got lit up by its QB in the demo. I then swapped teams and Charleston really struggled to move the ball against my D, while I was much more effective on offense.now, while INTs still happen in the final release game.......it is not as much for me because I play the best teams...imo, that makes a difference...

This is how the reviewers felt (and gave it a 5). This is how most of us felt the first couple of games... until you learn how to run and how to pass and how to select one defensive player and hold the focus button (you will see all the action).Ok, I'll give my thoughts.

Take some time to learn the game and it is very impressive and fun.Comment
