I knew it was trash when Colorado was referenced as a "traditional power" in the Big XII. Garbage article.

Coming back in the 4th but never taking the lead isn't almost winning. That's just losing.

lol it took a freak injury to the QB (and Texas' entire offense) and playing against a freshman that was at his HS prom 6 months previous to improve to 1-7 against Texas congrats

Nope, all it took was Bama being the superior team. I didn't know Colt played D. How was that #1 run defense looking after HTWMI and Trent ran roughshod over it?

lol yea sure Colt being injured on a freak play had nothing to do with the game. McCoy was the entire Texas offense obviously. His backup was a true freshman and had never had a meaningful snap in CFB. If the offense cant keep possession, the defense is at quite a disadvantage.

anyway, Bama was the superior team. That is correct.

Yeah, I hadn't peeked in on this thread since Texas decided to stay.

Kinda see why I stayed away from it.

HOUSTON -- About two dozen Texas lawmakers are supporting efforts to get Houston admitted to the Big 12 Conference.

State Reps. Garnet Coleman and Bill Callegari, both from the Houston area, co-wrote a letter Thursday asking Big 12 officials to consider adding the university to the conference.

"UH is the third largest university in Texas, and is on track to rank among the top research universities in this state," the letter says. "Despite UH's local and statewide prominence, the university does not belong to a strong BCS conference such as the Big 12. The Cougars, the city of Houston, and the state of Texas deserve better."

Houston is a member of Conference USA and was a member of the Southwest Conference until 1995.

Conference USA officials did not immediately respond Thursday to messages left by the Associated Press. Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe was not available to comment.

The Big 12 is set to lose two schools after Nebraska committed to the Big Ten and Colorado to the Pac-10. Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe has said the league has no plans to add any teams from within its five-state area, which includes Texas.

Coleman said he is not deterred by Beebe's stance.

"I don't quit," Coleman said. "I don't start something I'm not going to finish. If I didn't think this was a worthy endeavor, I wouldn't have started it. This is the beginning of this effort, not the end."

Yeah, and being the only offensive player is a huge weakness.

Texas was too one dimensional on offense and had little else outside of McCoy and Shipley and their passing attack...one of the main reasons why Bama was the superior team

While I would love to see this happen, we aren't going to be joining the "Conference formerly known as the Big XII" any time soon. Let's be honest here: no one currently in the conference has any interest in seeing a BCS team in either Houston or DFW. Those cities represent two of the most fertile recruiting areas in the country. Why would any Big XII schools want to have a BCS program in those markets competing for talent?

I posted it just for you coog

It might be a longshot but it's possible. Stranger things have certainly happened. I for one hope it happens. It would be sweet.

but if UH doesnt join the Big 12, they should still think about trying to get out of CUSA and getting into the MWC imo. What do you think?

Someone needs to replace Utah. TCU and Houston together in the same conference would be quite a cool conference rivalry. UH doesnt seem like it "fits" in CUSA in football.

Tommy Tuberville is already saying he doesn't think the 10 team Big XII will last long because of the disparity in revenue.
