Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I just dowloaded the demo and I must say that this game is a definite step in the right direction(I played NCAA 10 for the first time last night and it sucked). NCAA 11 actually has me very interested.
First of all, I love the new ESPN integration and presentation...it's a nice touch and makes it feel like I'm watching football.
Gameplay: Gameplay is very much improved, although there are still some iffy animations and morphs in the game...for example, I tossed a pass down field using Christian Ponder. Florida's DB batted the ball up and my WR slide for about 5 yards, almost caught theball, tipped int in the air, and slid another couple of yards.
One thing that I really liked was how the CPU QB overthrew some passes to WIDE OPEN receivers...Florida's QB attempted a deep pass with only one man down field wide open for 6...none of my DB's in the area, and he overthrew the ball and guess what...the receiver didn't magically gain super powers and morph to catch the ball.
I still have to play a few more games...but like I said, I downloaded the demo right after I played NCAA 10 for the first time, and NCAA 11 actually looks pretty good right now...I hope it stays that way.
SN: The last NCAA game I bought was NCAA 09 and said that I wouldn't buy another NCAA football game on release day...NCAA 11 MIGHT change my mind.NCAA: Florida A&M Rattlers
NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars/Cincinnati Bengals
NBA: Orlando Magic
MLB: Atlanta BravesComment

Okay, finally got the demo and just played a few games. By far the most noticeable thing is locomotion so far. Everything is much smoother and players are finally tackled in a way that makes sense physically. I love that the deep pass is actually possible now, on any difficulty. The lighting makes all the difference in the world in terms of how the game plays. The addition of new uniforms is fantastic. I love the ability to use more than one helmet now. Haven't seen many personalized plays yet, but I'm assuming they are holding off until the game is released to give us the expanded playbooks. CPU AI is much improved, i.e. if I am on the goal line, they actually run a GOAL LINE play, etc. I have seen some of the errors they have been discussing, but since I noticed that EA has pretty much addressed all of them, I am extremely pleased to know they will be handled by the time he final product arrives. Overall, very excited to play this game, can't wait until July 13th.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
Someone mentioned the demo looking dark. I haven't noticed, but complained about that last year and everything was appropriately bright on the release version.
As for the guy with the black and white demo, that happened to me with the real game a few years ago. The TV was dying and it first showed on the game. Hope that's not the case here.
Delighted they fixed the DE problem, that is a real drag on the demo.
Think EA clearly was listening this time out. Dumb things remain, but we got a lot. Overdue, yes. Welcome, most certainly.College: Florida Gators

This demo is sick. Can't wait for it to come out.
Formation Subs are definitely one of the best things to come back to this game. On the old gen consoles, it was awesome. Imagine the things you can do with LSU and Russell Shepard, putting him at WR, Tailback, Wildcat, the possibilities are endless!!!Comment

Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I must have a different version of the demo because honestly this demo is the worst looking rendition I have seen yet in the next gen? The lighting effect is waaaay overdone. Ohio States Reds looked washed out and the grey has a tint of red. When I play the OSU v Miami game everything looks just off? It appears to be one of the overdone 6pm games from last year where everything has an orange/red hue to it. Oh and the area by the flag pole in the closed end of the Shoe looks like the ground is covered in really bright snow? Is this going to happen for all partly cloudy games?
I then played the FSU v. UF matchup and selected FSU with the standard gold helmets and once the game starts they seem to be a dark olive, grey-gold color from the pre-play camera? wTF? even the cut scene replays the gold helmets are waaay tooo dark. I know the setting is "overcast" but I have seen many overcast day games and they have never looked like this before. Please tell me this demo is not like the retail version when it comes to visual because this looks terrible for these partly cloudy, overcast games.
I have a nice TV and all my other games look great so it is not my set.
If these visual are in the retail version , how does this happen? How do you go to play a game and not see that it doesn't look right? To me it is very obvious right off the bat, EA cannot say that this looks like a real football game....this lighting effect is not good.
I hope I am going crazy because otherwise it looks bad.
Can anyone please select the FSU gold helmets, start a game and tell me that it doesn't look odd?Last edited by ditchrider1; 06-21-2010, 10:15 PM.Comment

The Demo is very good in my opinion. However one of the few things that bothers me is on punt returns the camera flip is odd and it pauses for a second sidways. Because of this i am never able to get more than 2-3 yard a return.Comment

anyone playing wit fsu in the demo owes to yourself to play with Chris Thompson, he is redic, i had a 25 yard run with him just beautiful and a kickoff return with him nuts. he is great on this game demo.Comment

Wow...I just tried something I hate doing but I wanted to see how OSU was. After beating every team on Heisman and rarely turning the ball over and never allowing more than 14 points I decided to try The Nuts and man am I getting destroyed.
Pryor feels like a track athlete at QB. Fast but absolutely no talent throwing the ball with three picks and the defense is getting torched by Miami with two huge touchdown plays. So sad losing 24 - 6 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Guess I know why I haven't touched them now, lol.
EDIT: Ok, ok. Not as bad really. That was just one of those everything that can go wrong will heisman games. Ended up winning 22 - 7 in my next game and I messed around a bit.Last edited by FuryMG; 06-22-2010, 12:09 AM.

Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
My last play of the game, I'm on defense with a 3 point lead.....Long pass... time ticks away, prevent defense in place for the
WI....
----- the ball goes though my defenders forearm, the WR catches the ball for a touchdown...
I lose---------------sigh-- another year, nothings changed.
I ask myself, "Self, am I the only one that notices or cares about clipping in a sports game?" If I am, I am stunned....
Non Legal Disclaimer:
This is not a troll post bashing EA. I have been apart of this site since for over 13 years and have spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars to buy EA Sports games (3DO console purchase to play the Foes of Ali and Madden-WTF).
2 Questions for all of you and EA: <-- like they would answer my question....
1. Why do any of you keep buying this game year after year when clipping continues to be an EA Sports virus that spreads through each of their franchises i.e. Balls passing though arms, players passing though one another etc..?
2. How can EA host actual tournaments for shinny trophy's or flair you can wear to work when a ball or player can pass though a a solid object? Bueller?...... Bueller?.....FRY... FRY..FRY?
It's obvious by now that either A- they don't know how to fix it or B- it
can't be fixed in the current engine. I would bet the answer is B Shirley because there is no way a day one tester wouldn't open a defect for this issue.
I guess I will have to wait for the next gen console and a new engine to fix the elephant in the room. Until then pass.....
Rant over/.. For all of you who continue to ignore this issue, don't worry this post will be 5 pages deep in a few days...

Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I've bought NCAA games since 1998 and I can say that something like that just doesn't bother me. I understand that no computer game will ever be perfect and graphical glitches like the ball warping through someone doesn't ruin the game for me. Honestly, most of the time it just makes me laugh if I see it. I usually don't look at the replays very closely either, so I wouldn't even notice if the ball warped through a guys arm 98% of the time anyway.
I ask myself, "Self, am I the only one that notices or cares about clipping in a sports game?" If I am, I am stunned....

Agreed...It may seem small to some, but this was always a game-killer for me on next gen consoles. It killed me not being able to customize my special teams units or defensive sub packages. This demo is sick. Can't wait for it to come out.
