But the guys that are hitting homers against me are the 2nd and 3rd tier players without any real power...i generally handle the power guys pretty well, but it just seems like all the CPU's players are equal in power and hitting ability? I have heard some discussion on this particular topic before but i wasn't able to find the thread. But, from what i remember it seemed like their was a slider adjustment to put more differential between the REAL power guys and the 2nd/3rd tier players...basically i'm sick and tired of being rocked by the greg zauns and willie harris' and Carlos Zambrano's of the world...Maybe i'm just not pitching these guys as well, but i've played about 40 games now this season and i'm seeing a recurring theme here...

Giving up homers to 2nd tier players?
Hello, i'm currently playing a franchise using all-star difficulty, and the cpu sliders i have set at contact-6, power-6, timing-7 , and solid hits-5.

Well Zambrano has 20 career home runs, and has served duty as a pinch-hitter. So giving up HRs to him shouldn't be a complete surprise. As for the other players, how many home runs do you give up to these types of players? If it's the majority, then yeah you have something to be annoyed with, but if it's just a few, relax. Remember, even Adam Everett has hit a home run. -

do you think maybe that it's your approach?
Im guessing that when the "power" guys get to the plate you are more strategic at how you pitch to them... and maybe when the 2nd tier guys come up... you aren't... ive been guilty of this before...
pitching the corners against big bats.. then just laying a few in there against the lesser folks only to get rocked on mistake pitches...

This is exactly what came to my mind, as well. How often do you see a lesser player come up big in the postseason while the superstar is held in check? It's entirely possible that you may focus and bear down more on the big hitters and subconsciously let up a little once you get past them. Just a thought.

Re: Giving up homers to 2nd tier players?
I just bought the game on Sunday and was playing on default veteran (Braves-me @ Orioles-cpu) and the first homer I gave up was to Cesar Izturis (?!?!?), but that's understandable because I left a slider over the middle and he hooked it over the scoreboard in right at Camden. My first homer was from Matt Diaz, to left center. I'm having trouble getting the power numbers up, but that should come with practice."A two count is routine. You kick out at two if you aren’t done. Kicking out at one is a MESSAGE. It says NO in capital letters. A middle finger. A promise that the other man is going to have to kill you if they’re going to put you down." ~ Brandon StroudComment

Re: Giving up homers to 2nd tier players?
Yankees fans think alike? lmaoo. I was thinking this exact thing. I think some people try to hard to not give up home runs to power guys and that makes them forget that the guy in the 9-spot (including pitchers) have a bat too. I mean, look at Brett Gardner. He has very little power, yet he has 4 homeruns this season, if you don't count the inside the park homer, so my advice is don't sleep on the guys with less power just because you got the big bat out. Cause if you leave one right down the pipe, I'm sure my six year old cousin could take that bad boy out the park. So stay focused. I've made mistakes like this before. I carried a Perfecto through 8 innings with Javy Vazquez. Second pitch in the ninth inning and it was all gone. Pitching is the key to winning in MLB 10 The Show, not saying you don't need a good bat, so stay focused.do you think maybe that it's your approach?

Re: Giving up homers to 2nd tier players?
It's probably your approach, you are less aware of small guys being able to take it out of the park so you just probably attack the strike zone more often. I don't mean to tell you how you are playing but it happens to me sometimes. I see small guys and attack them without fear and a hanger catcher the plate and boom.Favorite teams:
