uhh...dude seriously? 2k has yet to show what the new controls would be like and you think they are scrambling? i mean...wtf...the info were all given out at E3 at the same time its not like 2k was waiting to see what the competitor is doing......the logic that some of you....good god....this was like the number 1 complaint.....scramble? mind boggling...
And to say that's not what's going on, now, with the controls is a valid point yet and still, 2K hints at a new control scheme but doesn't want to give away details in the face of EA's onslaught of info on revamped, 1:1 controls. Even in this article, 1:1 controls is uttered for the first time by 2K when it wasn't before. Now 2K is going with 1:1 controls, eh?
Maybe some people's logic is different from yours but, here, I see a similarity to what happened with another feature, before. THAT'S where my logic stems from.Just cuz you pour syrup on ish....Comment

Yeah I know, I just meant in general, and I dont want this 2k preview to turn into a thread that needs to be locked because thats what will happen.
Anyhow, 2k is always quiet until the end, you can count on that but with the addition of MJ I wonder if they'll do more advertising this year.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Eyes-On Impressions: Looks Are Everything - For Now (Kotaku)
Unfortunately you can't do that in NBA 2K. Basketball says to force baseline on defence. Try that on 2K and you might as well send Adam Morrison and D.J. Mbenga to the scorer's table.
Basketball says to finish a lay-up with the hand furthest from the defence. In NBA 2K the game chooses for you.<O</O
<O</O
Basketball says not to pass into heavy traffic. NBA 2K encourages you to.<O</O
<O</O
Basketball says to runs plays to get a high percentage shots. NBA 2K says run plays if you like taking end of shot clock desperation heaves.<O</O
<O</O
Basketball says if the ball makes contact with the hand, the ball should be deflected. NBA 2K says there are exceptions to this rule.<O</O
<O</O
Basketball says Shaq should never shoot a 3-pointer, ever. NBA 2K's Shaq will pop the 3 if take one step back.<O</O
<O</O
Basketball says off-ball defenders should be ready to help at any time. NBA 2K help defenders come over when LeBron is already in mid-air.<O</O
<O</O
I think you get my drift; NBA 2K is nothing close to basketball.<O</O
I was extremely surprised just how rewarding cheese basketball is in 2K10. I kept spamming the steal button(key to not get reach-in fouls is bump the offensive player first then quickly press steal button) as well as lead passes, run no offense, fastbreak at will, bypass camera zoom after a made basket etc etc.
I had a double digit lead for the majority of the game and won 178-163 or something like that. At the end of the 1st Quarter I scored 51 points.
Some things I noticed:
-One certain steal animation where the offensive player loses the ball. When this occurs near the sideline it seems like the defender poked it last but instead the offensive player did. This animation needs to go.
-Off-ball D is extremely weak. Out of 10 I would rank it 3 out of 10. Defenders carelessly lose their man, no resistance is offered when offensive players cut to the basket, its a mess.
-Fastbreaks are almost a guaranteed 2 points for me. In fact when I play against AI CPU I force myself to never run fastbreaks, I always run plays. One reason is AI CPU cannot do canimation blocks human users can.
-With the ball in hand using turbo, running around the defender is the same speed as going straight at the defender. A physical impossibility. Hoping this will be fixed in 2K11.
I see why cheesers play the way they do. Its more rewarding compared to sim style when it should be the opposite.
To me though, a realistic game=a fun game. Not the other way around. Hoping 2K11 will fit that motto.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Eyes-On Impressions: Looks Are Everything - For Now (Kotaku)
well so far we heard very little on the offensive side of things in nba 2k11 and i have to admit that am impressed by the littlle.but what i hope is that the defensive side of things get shaken up just as much.

Re: NBA 2K11 Eyes-On Impressions: Looks Are Everything - For Now (Kotaku)
Never said that 2K isn't capable. I think EA's somewhat revamped 1:1 controls puts pressure on 2K to come up with something just like when DNA came out, 2K suddenly comes up with their own, lesser version of it which looked like something they scrambled to put together to match EA's new feature.EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Eyes-On Impressions: Looks Are Everything - For Now (Kotaku)
What made my eyes open wide was the fact that they mentioned somebody already had plans of what to do if MJ ever signed on with 2k.
I wonder what that will be?
Maybe a 1 on1 competition? Or Re-live MJ's career through My Player?Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Eyes-On Impressions: Looks Are Everything - For Now (Kotaku)
Please don't mistake our being hush re: our feature set as a sign that 2K11 is just another incremental iteration... you'll see in time, that's far from the case.
Also, I've known Elite's direction for quite some time now... so why would we be scrambling?Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Eyes-On Impressions: Looks Are Everything - For Now (Kotaku)
I'm interested in seeing how momentum will play out when it comes to shooting with the RS. The real problem that 2k has to overcome is the erratic movement. Fancy animations only make up for so much. If they can implement some decent control then their signature style, animations, and MJ(hopefully among other legends and teams) will keep them on top.Comment

You know how it is B. Its exactly the same EVERY YEAR. "2K is hiding their game", "VC hasn't changed anything" "Stale, engine, tired, wash, rinse repeat."Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Eyes-On Impressions: Looks Are Everything - For Now (Kotaku)
Nothing happens in Wang's absence.
Wang comes back to 2k sports after spending a year or so with "the competition" and NOW they're ready to make changes.
There's nothing wrong with that. It would be foolish not to take something you see as positive from the competition, and try to somehow incorporate it into your own product. It is also foolish to believe that everything Wang saw at EA wasn't shared with the 2k crew.
As Phil Jackson would say "Give them(the competition) some (expletive) credit."
