Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

Just got done playing all the matchups. Gotta say I loved each one.

Each one was different. Some games ended up being a defensive game 7-3 some games were one sided heavily 21-3 some games it was a offensive showdown.

It is much improved from the last time I bought an NCAA game. I have stopped buying NCAA and Madden games since 09 because it was so awful but I have to say this game might make me buy it again.

The demo was clearly an unfinished product with the sound cutting out and the wrong team celebrating after a big play but those have been fixed for the retail verison so I've heard.

If I were to rate this game from 1 to 10 with 1 being the worst and ten being the best I would give it an 8 because it could of added many more features for CPU AI.

Have the CPU recruit to their playbook/style and not have a team like Georgia tech recruit a pocket QB.

Also custom playbooks or build a playbook for example let people build a playbook by picking a few formations/plays out of other teams playbooks and with a possiablity of creating your own plays. It was in old gen why isn't it in now?

    And dread locks.

Is anybody else having trouble reading the end or linebacker correctly on read option plays? The extremely limited time you have to decide is making it difficult for me to read the defender correctly.

I really wish you didn't have to hold A to hand it off, but instead only had to tap it.

So, why does the CPU pick Offense when they win the toss in overtime?

          + Love the new replays
+ Passing feels nice, not sure what changed exactly, maybe it's because of the locomotion thing
+ O-line seems improved a lot but I didn't try it post patch from last year, only the awful out of box mess it was

          - QB sneak even WORSE than last year
          - Unusual ammount of INTs dropped but I guess sliders can fix that

? Where's the chief dude with the flaming spear for FSU?

Unfortunately most teams with Native American mascots have come under attack. The Seminole Nation loves the team and it's name, plus the Chief is a real Seminole Nation member, but no one cares what the Natives want. It is all about being politically correct (pc).

I am 1/8 Miami, and for some reason some people in America feel it is a demeaning towards the Native Americans, but from who I've talked to many feel these names and team mascots are more of an honor, and a way for Native Americans to never be forgotten.

Oh look, there I go rambling again.

I have already got rid of the demo because of cpu threw me int's left and right, and this was on All-American and Heisman difficulties'. If you slow it down, than the computer will instantly be throwing more knuckle balls and it won't be pretty. I just don't think that this engine will ever play a decent bit of ball, and I hope they can fix some of these problems before launch. I won't buy this, but for those who will, I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of the game. It's just not for me, not this year.
I decide to reinstall the demo last night and feel a little better after a few games. I have decided I will get this game, especially after I saw an animation that made me blush. I intercepted the ball on the sideline and my player dragged his foot! I hope it is better in the final version, but you can wish in one hand and......well you get the idea.

Man I don't want to take this off topic, but I have to reply to this being a full blood Apache and attending a native school. I've gone to a lot of pow wows across the nation, and talked to a lot of different members of tribes, and just for the record it doesn't really bother me @ all if teams use Native names/mascots, but I'm in the minority on thinking like that at least to the other natives I have talked too, and even the non traditionalists are upset at it. Think about the Washington Redskins that would be like the San Diego Padres being lets say the San Diego Spics instead. Chief is a very sacred and honorable position in almost all native tribes it isn't something you make a mascot out of very few people in the history of their tribe have had the honor of wearing the title chief, and you think it is honoring them by making people like Larry Johnson or Charlie Weis "Chiefs"?

As for the FSU Seminoles the few Seminoles I have talked too don't really like FSU because of a lot of bad relations between them and their tribe. FSU basically disrespected their tribe and gave them a big legal FU in the 90s, and ironically most Seminole fans I meet are Gator or Cane fans because Gainesville/Miami is closer to their tribal lands than Tallahassee the only thing in their eyes they have in common with FSU is them coining their tribe's name.

I certainly don't speak for every native, but from the ones I speak to daily and the new ones I meet daily. I would say 75% of them dislike the whole mascot business. It doesn't really bother me at all, but I can certainly see the disrespect.

Okay I'm done rambling I hope I didn't sound hostile because I wasn't trying to be. I just had to a ten page paper over the whole tribal mascot issues for my Tribal Law class, and I had to jump on it.

                Onward to the Demo impressions.

I read the "fixed stuff thread", and if they do indeed deliver with those fixes. Then I truly believe this game will be a high 80 meta score. I'm thinking 88ish. I'm really excited because with locomotion and the new offensive styles and the presentation improvements this game has a lot of replay value in my eyes. The new dynasty stuff from online looks really neat. The recruiting sliders etc. I'm officially on the hype train now.

The only glaring issues I'm seeing is the no huddle only looks to the sidelines when you audible very minor in my eyes, and easy as heck to fix for me I'll just audible to a run play then switch back to get the animation if it bothers me that much. INTs are high, but sliders can fix that, and the one thing I'm interested in that isn't getting much talk is the SIM stats in dynasty last year they were pretty FUBAR hope they got them on the right track this year.

Anyone else bothered by the whole look of the lighting? I've seen this orangy, Michael Bay lighting in a few games recently and I don't get it. I guess it's supposed to be dramatic.

Demo's pretty good though. I haven't played an NCAA since 07, and haven't really liked one since my favorite year, 04. Probably going to pick this one up though. It's sad to see that as long as EA has had the ESPN license, this is as far as they've come with it. I also feel they could've left out all the jittery, repeated "cutscenes" of the crowds at the end of quarters.

Anyway, on the field seems really good, and that's all that really matters.

I dunno man...on NCAA 10, I could take my QB and just run up the middle for an easy 1st down.

On NCAA 11, my QB tries to dive forward.

yeah QB sneak is not an issue IMO because yes, sometimes you can run up the gut for a couple-few yards, but other times he just dives straight down for practically nothing. I like how EA did that to get rid of the cheese. if it's 4th and 1, depending upon the QB sneak is risky...and that's exactly how it should be...

I write for another site and was able to play the E3 version at EA's booth. Unfortunately, I only got to play 1 half (my Golden Eagles vs. Tulane) so I don't really remember how it specifically compared to the home demo version. From what I remember, it played really well. I'm no X's and O's expert so I can't tell you if nano blitzing is still in (I don't even know what that is) or if robo-QB still exists or anything like that. I just know the half I played, I really liked. Feel free to take my words with a grain of salt however because I also think '10 was the best NCAA Football game I've ever played (I played a personal record of 16 dynasty seasons and played 4 years of Road to Glory).

As far as the PS3 demo version goes, I think it played very similar to the build I played at E3 (only it was obvious to me that the E3 version was a better build). I've played with every team at least twice now (and I've moved up from Varsity to All-American) and really like how the game feels. I can see my running lanes develop and can hit 'em a lot better then in '10. I've always sucked at passing and I think I'm even worse now but I've always been decent (at best) at running the ball. I can say that if anyone likes the demo, then they'll definitely like the final game based off of whatever build was at E3.

I'm not too sure what the robo-qb is, but nanoblitzing is the scenario where as soon as you snap the ball, someone is hitting you in the backfield. Kind of sad that it was an achievement for Madden 10, and now they realized it had to be fixed. Lol.

I know I'm late to the party, but for the first time since '04 or '05, I'll be picking up this game. I enjoyed the demo. I just have to get used to the controls now.

I tried Madden last year (not a bad game, but I never played it) and this year it'll be NCAA instead. This used to be my favorite game.

No offense, but **** is a derogatory word towards Mexicans, and redskin is how the natives considered themselves when white men were first seen. My Grandpa's mother was full blooded Miami, and he loved the fact that so many teams had the tribal names but not the goofy mascots. I to have been to many tribal meetings within the Miami nation, but I feel most are okay with the way teams are named, including the Chiefs. Most I have spoken with are pleased with the fact that the true native people of this land are still acknowledged, and at most play great parts of America's team sports. And back when FSU was looking for a team name and mascot they approached the tribal leaders of the Seminoles and agreed on terms. They also allowed the tribe to select the colors and images for the team. Seminoles came to the defense of the FSU Seminoles when the announcement came out that they along with others would have to change, so I never heard of any law suit.
