Be A Gm Mode is it in NHL 11

I have heard alot of good things about NHL 11 but one thing i havent heard is Be A Gm Mode is it in the game this year cause i went to the official website and nothing on be a gm mode if anyone can let me know id really aprreciate it

It will definitiely be in there with the addition of the junior north american leagues.. whether or not it is improved from NHL10 is the big question,..

I really hope it is improved. Otherwise, it will be another year of EA just adding gimmicks and not fixing the issues.

I think the biggest question will be this (and I saw this asked somewhere else and now I cant find it)..

With the addition of the new leagues and the existence of the previous leagues (SEL, Sm-Liga e.t.c) will EA finally add simultaneous leagues, where as one year passes in the NHL (and AHL) so does it in the CHL and SEl e.t.c, and thus..the NHL Entry Draft is not just random players generated..but it's based off the rest of the leagues.. (i'm hoping that AT LEAST the CHL is used to generate players for the draft..but I hope they can all be included).

This will make the game the most COMPLETE nhl game possible and closest to an actual SIMULATION of the Hockey World ....MUCH like NHL Eastside Hockey Manager (for those familiar with it)

Thoughts/news on this?

EA just added Be a GM last year, why would they only use that mode for a year. It will be improved, definitely.

My guess is we start hearing some info about Be a GM mode during the 2nd week of July.

At very least, they need to make sure you can view the box scores for the other games going on in your league.

The NHL series is a great series, but there isn't another sports game that exists, where in the career mode, doesn't display the scores from games around the league. I can't believe they've made it this far without adding this standard feature, to be honest.

The NHL series is a great series, but there isn't another sports game that exists, where in the career mode, doesn't display the scores from games around the league. I can't believe they've made it this far without adding this standard feature, to be honest.

Thats the one thing that frustrates me most about this mode, I enjoy playing it but it doesn't have that immersion factor that other sports titles have.

I would also love 30 team control in Be a GM, like how it is setup in MLB The Show so we could put an end to stupid trades and quality players sitting in Free Agency.

Another huge addition, for me atleast, would be an option to choose season length. I do not like to sim games and 82 games are to many games to play if one wants to play through a couple of season and build a dynasty. That was one of few thing that 2K10 did better.

Can't answer any questions or give any info on GM Mode at this point, but I can say yes, it's in the game and yes, there are improvements... Stay tuned, although I don't know when we can talk about.

As long as the trade logic and cpu's handling of lines is improved. That's really where the issue lies as it ties into a overall team performance when the stars aren't on the proper lines or are being traded so often due to the CPU being afraid of cap space/ not managing cap space properly. Thats going to be key imo.

Another key thing is getting rid of that damn free agent glitch where the CPU doesn't sign any of the top players for some strange reason. Not only that but they let them sit there for years.

I'm just happy that Qb has said they added a lot of good things to Be A GM. Some "other" games like to do a few things to their franchise mode one year and then rest on that. Glad to hear it isn't the case with this game.

Honestly I have a feeling that ties right into the whole inability for the cpu to manage the salary cap in combination with what they added along the lines of GM personalities (contender, bubble team etc) There's a whole boat load of things that obviously need to be addressed.

I spent a good deal of time talking to Gurn about the cap/free agency/trades/etc and the team was very aware of the problems with those aspects in 10. I'll tell you right now that I couldn't sim season upon season -- nevermind doing it multiple times like you'd need to -- to check that stuff out. Due to the all the additions, the code wasn't complete, so simming wasn't the most productive experience.

To switch back to theoretical talk, I think Realm is right that the CPU had trouble evaluating/managing the cap. Let's use the Blackhawks as an example, since they're the team most saw the FA issues with. Rather than moving less desirable salary out to clear space for desirable salary (Kane/Toews/etc) like the real Hawks did/are doing, the CPU seemed to prefer letting FAs walk to stay under the cap. Sometimes this does happen IRL, but I think there has to be some sort of qualifier for high overall players that pushes the CPU to make space for them. But, it's not always possible for teams to do it in the real NHL, so it's a tricky proposition.

Hopefully these areas are improved in 11, as there are some very attractive (and requested) improvements for franchise fans. I think that's as much NDA-related line dancing I can handle for right now...

Shorter season lengths (in all modes) would honestly be big for me. I would play a fantasy league all the time if I could do a 29 game season or something like that.
