The term cheesing is new to me so I apologize for the ignorance. Is it basically using an exploit to defeat your opponent?

In a nutshell YES...exploits are "CHEESY" for sure but "CHEESY" play can also be prevalent in the game by simply playing the game unrealistically...A perfect example would be NBA Live 10...Shooting nothing but 3Pt shots or running the same play over and over and...

No game will ever be cheese proof...I think the most irritating thing for gamers is to watch a person play a game with no respect for the sport and watch the nonsense be rewarded...I personally don't care how anyone plays...I just hate to see the cheesy tactics be rewarded.

If a cat is running around the floor with one guy jacking up 3's or trying to get dunks off every trip down the floor and I'm running plays and offense and trying to tap into the fundamentals of solid realistic game-play I feel like the game should reward me for that...I think that's something most gamers want

I completely agree with what you're saying here. We want the same thing that you want. We want people to be rewarded for playing good basketball and punished for playing bad basketball.

One thing that annoys me in live 10 was the inability of doing drop passes while going for a layup or a dunk. would drop passes be implemented this year?

This thread is a perfect example why companies don't release videos until closer to the release.

It's obvious the general public still can't handle an unfinished, buggy game. They just don't understand it.

And that's not a slight... more of an observation. It's tough to grasp when a certain something isn't in the game from the video... like the lack of footplanting, or missing fouls...

I think those seeing it for what it is can see the potential. Of course there is room for error, but I do get the feeling some guys are excited by the promise of the glass being half full as opposed to half empty.

I'm usually on this site just reading and rarely posting, but i can understand what Pared is saying. A lot of the time people don't seem to take the videos for what you is, right now.

It's good that the developers are releasing it, so we can have a chance to point some things out, in order to help and make the game better by release, but it all has to be in proper context.

That's exactly it. Maybe you should post more.

It's also why these companies are hesitant to let guys in the forums see the game in an unfinished state. We were even told this specifically when we were there and I knew that from the beginning.

The last thing you want to do is turn off your consumer but at the same time, there's no way to show them what is being worked on unless it is incomplete. It's a catch-22.

Over in the 2k forums, some guys are complaining about not having videos to complain about...? Really?

Seems like you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.

I'm hoping our members can begin seeing things a bit differently when confronted with a "work in progress" video. It will only help us have better games available to buy when released... criticize constructively and to improve the game, not just to do it.

The ball physics in this game still look so odd. Sometimes it's like the ball has helium in it and then it quickly switches to air. You couple that with very weird player movements and the game looks very awkward.

To EA sports,

I have been supporting NBA Live series for many years. I really have a high expectation on this year's basketball game. I REALLY want a perfect basketball game this year.

From the video, several points of suggestions:
1. A bit slower pace for the players
2. More and more body collison/ contact both on the ground and in the air (as the players tend to slip away easily from the video)
3. Successful defence could influence shooting/ layups/ dunking more, i.e. more contest shoots and contest layups

I would like to say that we need to be thankful for getting an oppurtunity to help create a game for guys who hate cheesers we need to be the solution for a good game so if they release videos for help then help them cause they obviously havent got it right so when they post another act like u sitting in Vancouver and tell them what could be better cause complaing is only gonna result in bad game that we purchased

Granted it was on the Wii so I am not expecting uber graphics, but all that ice skating was just blah. Looked like they were playing on fast forward.

It was 360/PS3 footage they were showing. The event also showed NBA Jam on the wii which is why you saw the wii remotes being used. It was weird the way they edited the video, showing Elite footage then showing wall using a wii controller.

I'll take canned movements over the jerky movements for now.

JkA3, it seemed that EA screwed up releasing that replay video for NCAA 11 in march or april..looked like crap...



Now it's the best (or most anticipated) football game for EA since the ps2 days...it's way too much stock put in videos for games that aren't out for months.
