    flagged for high stepping?

Will we get flagged for high stepping into the end zone? I heard that was a rule change for this year, and it is 15 yards from the spot!!

    Re: flagged for high stepping?

There's only one type of high-stepping this year(pointing to the crowd) so I'm pretty sure that would probably be the only one allowed IRL.

doesn't this rule change take affect after the season? Anyway, it is a very dumb rule and both NCAA and EA need to calm down with wanting players to be lifeless and unemotional

anyways, I higly doubt you will be ABLE to do anything illegal, at least like this.

Yet when EA focuses on a "swagger" setting in Madden people chime in that it's stupid etc...

Another can't win for losing situation for them lol

Plain and simple, let players play. I guess the NCAA wants players to be mindless puppets for the audience *shrugs*

so EA wont let you high step this year, yet you can go breakdance with your mascot after you score?

I think "swagger" and high stepping are just a little different

It's not being emotionless, the rules are simply meant to prevent taunting other opponents. It's a good rule because at the high school and college levels taunting can sometimes bring retaliation, and retaliation can come in the form of late hits or other illegal things.

I don't know about you guys, but when I played football and someone started taunting my team, that person suddenly found a huge target on their back and I would be lying if I said I didn't look for them on the field.

"Swagger" in Madden is a rating for celebration occurances etc.... So in this discussion it's pretty much the same.
He said EA needs to allow emotions yet when they actually put in a rating to somewhat enhance/upgrade or whatever... people complain.. so again this fits this discussion....

This might be off-topic but I absolutely HATE the celebration rules in the NFL and soon NCAA.

It was all harmless fun and I still have no respect for Joe Buck after getting all up on Randy Moss.

I watch football to see the game in action, not to see a bunch of morons dancing around like idiots. If players want to show up the other team, show it by the play on the field.

They probably won't ever program the game to have the rules as the are(or will be) in real life. I think that they can correctly assume that most people who buy the game enjoy seeing and reenacting that kind of preening peacock behavior, and would be upset it they got penalized for it in a game.

Personally I love the new taunting rules, and can't wait to see someone cost their team a game by acting like a clown, even if its a player on my team.

Somehow folks have got it in their heads that not showing up an opponent means being turned into an emotionless automaton. Thats nonsense. There are a thousand ways to celebrate your and your teams success that doesn't involve bush league behavior.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

And just for the record, I have no problem with players celebrating...on the sidelines after the play.
