If you look at the Texas Tech red jersey in the picture there, it looks like the same color as the stripe. I think the colors are just off in the picture. They wouldn't have an orange jersey; that wouldn't make any sense. But the stripes are the same width as Auburn's so it's possible they were designed after them. It's also not exactly an uncommon pattern so it might just be coincidence as well.
