Sticks vs D-pad
I hear people mention you have to be good on the sticks so I have to ask is using the left stick to move your player more rewarding than using the D-pad?
I have just always used the D-pad and wondered what some of the experienced people here think of this?..."And there's a frequent bug that turns the receivers' route markers into dancing squiggly lines. None of these problems destroy the fun of running a perfect option play, but they do take you out of what should be an immersive experience."....Tags: None -

Re: Sticks vs D-pad
The D-Pad is too stiff for my tastes and doesn't provide a full range of movement in my opinion. Also, I plan on using the auto sprint feature which probably isn't very D-Pad friendly. -

Re: Sticks vs D-pad
This is my biggest complaint of the 360 controller, and the football games on it. I grew up on the D-Pad, and still haven't gotten used to using the stick for football games.Comment

I grew up with a PS1 without sticks, so it took me forever to adjust to sticks. But I like them better, more fluid and natural feeling.Wisconsin Badgers | Green Bay Packers | Vodafone McLaren Mercedes | Andretti Autosport

Re: Sticks vs D-pad
I grew up on the NES. Add in SNES, then PS1/2, I'm never getting used to the sticks.

Re: Sticks vs D-pad
I fell in love with the joy pad stick ever since it was on the Dream cast then into PS one and never looked back.It has so much more control of the players or game it self and like the OP have said just more fluid motion and not darting place to place etc.Comment

Re: Sticks vs D-pad
I use the D-pad to navigate through menus and play calling but the sticks for the actual game play. I use the D-pad for the menus and play calling because I know when I press left/right/up/down it is going to react as such."Do or do not, there is no try."

Re: Sticks vs D-pad
I was stricly a D-pad user until 5 years ago, when I finally switched to using the Analog Sticks. It was certainly an adjustment (like others, I grew up on NES, Genesis etc.) at first but once you get used to it, the sticks are superior to the D-pad.Currently Playing:

Re: Sticks vs D-pad
I never really understood the people that use the D-Pad... as soon as sticks came out on controllers I was all about it. When Xbox introduced the new placement I was in love... I feel that the D Pad is outdated and the Xbox control realizes the left stick should be primary, which makes sense to have it where they have it. This is the same reason why I hate playing on PS3 now, the low left stick feels so awkward to me, while the 360 control fits the hand like a glove.Florida State Seminoles-Minnesota Twins-Green Bay Packers-Minnesota Golden Gophers-Orlando Magic-Minnesota Wild

Re: Sticks vs D-pad
D - Pad has it's uses when programmed into games the right way.
