Re: NBA 2K11 Box Art Revealed
Couldn't agree more. My initial impression was "yuck, that's it? That's what they came up with for Jordan? That's the worst cover in recent memory and this is supposed to be for Jordan???"I'm not a big basketball gamer, but this cover could of had so much more potential. I'm a huge graphic guru, and seeing MJ on a cover with some noobish red photoshop brushes just doesn't seem to do justice what could have been. I would of thought they would have used one of his famous dunks or something, but to slap on some lame red effects wasn't the right way to go. What I believe they should have done would be to go with an old theme on the cover, rather then the style used for the past 5 or 6 years.
Like you said, it just looks unprofessional (you worded it as "noobish")... some red PS brushes... and some smeared brushes on the top layer set to "overlay" blend mode. I don't care for the balance of it either (it almost follows the rule of thirds, but since he's driving to the right, the negative space should be on that side of him, not vice versa...)
It just doesn't look like a professional designed it. In a world where every even semi-nerdy 11 year old knows how to use Photoshop... whatever, I'll stop.
Haha, none of this matters, because I'll still buy the game day one! I grew up on MJ and couldn't be more excited about this game

Yea I couldn't agree more, messenjahmatt has better covers I wasn't expecting it to be so colorful I thought it would be more "one to remember" but I'll remember this as an weird cover for the G.O.A.T I'm just a little upset the way it came out I guess gameplay will make up for it!Couldn't agree more. Re: 2K Sports Reveals Greatest Cover of All Time for NBA 2K11 (Press Release)
Okay honestly, how many of you would think this was a great cover if anyone other than Jordan was on it?
Say it was Steve Nash, would you really say it was the best cover ever?
I sincerely doubt it.
To me this is no more impressive than the 2K9 cover, which I thought was much better. But I guess its just me.Comment

For anyone wondering why MJ is considered the best and Kobe will never be in his airness.
MJ is the only person to lead his team to multiple championships without a dominant big man that would garner double teams. .
Magic- Kareem.
Bird- McHale
Kobe- Shaq/Gasol
West- Chamberlin
Dr J - Moses.
Isiah - Marc Aguire.
You have chips that were won by dominant big men with out great perimeter players.
Olajuwon. Duncan but only one has won it without a dominant big men.
That's why MJ was the greatest.
Until someone wins 7 chips without a dominant big man MJ will always be the greatest.Comment

Obviously..No one considers Nash the G.O.A.T. so having him on the cover would make that line make absolutely no senseOkay honestly, how many of you would think this was a great cover if anyone other than Jordan was on it?

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment
