    Difficulty running out of spread

I like to play as Michigan, but I can't get any run game going at all.

But then I'll play as a pro style team like Arkansas, and I can run the ball easily.

Anyone else having difficulty running out of the spread?

Im having the same issue.... when do just a simple read option or speed option, the QB moves like he has all the time in the world but when I do a pass option play he moves like twice as fast. It makes no sense.

i see two major problems in the running game out of the spread.

#1- the human offensive line will not block the mike LB in any zone scheme

#2- perimeter blocking is nonexistent because CB's and OLBs react instantly to the run screaming off the edge completely untouched nearly every single play.

i have a good amount of success running the zone read out of shotgun ace but nearly every zone read out of 10 personnel is a blow-up in the backfield.

Was noticing the same thing. Demps sure is sucking in my UF dynasty because 1. there aren't many varied running plays and 2. its harder to run from spread than from a traditional offense.

Yeah I've been having big problems running the read option in particular. I thought there was some new "assignment blocking" tech in this game? When running the read option in practice mode, I was seeing instances where my RT and RG would double the left DT, leaving the LDE unblocked (say what?) and my LG and C double-teaming the right DT, leaving a LB unblocked - at the same time mind, you.

I'm sure I just need to practice more, but five blockers against five defenders, and two are going unblocked?

I am having a hard time running the ball as well.. I have to switch to Ace or I-formation to get any kind of consistent running game out of Auburn.

If I try running in shotgun.. Probably 75% of the plays are for no gain or minimum gain. A lot of times, for loss. I am trying to be accurate with running this offense, but its hard when the defense is in your face every single play.

I can throw the ball just fine.. no problem there.

I'm hoping they will use a tuner to alter how fast corners decipher whether it's a run or pass play. They know FAR too fast on play action.

They need to do something. It is ridiculous. It is like they don't seem to test some things before they ship. They probably were just throwing the ball 95% of the time out of the spread.. err

45 and/or 46 hit or whatever that play is called is money. The one with the numbers where the guard pulls. Also motion your TE or WR to the side you want to run to. I just had 200 yards rushing with ISU doing this and I suck at this game.

The spread option plays are easy to run you just have to make the proper read. The other spread plays just require you to be against the proper defense. Also it helps if the CPU's reaction is tuned down. Try playing on All american or varsity with high end sliders.

The spread is broken...from the terrible running to the no huddle. Too many times have I seen tiny WRs playing RB and TE because the CPU has decided to run no huddle for a whole drive. Frustrating does not even begin to explain it.

Just like in real life, the spread relies on spacing. General rule of thumb is you want 7 or less guys in the box if you're planing on running with the spread.

Yeah don't be forced to run. If the box is stacked audible to a quick pass.

Honestly the spread is supposed to be harder to run out of. You have at least 2 less blockers than usual.

Usually you'll only have 5 blockers in a spread run, so make sure your opponent doesn't have any more than 5 men in the box. If they do audible to a pass.

Re: Difficulty running out of spread

Actually, the spread is not suppose to be harder to run out of. You take the top spread option teams in the country (I say spread option since the OP is playing with Michigan) and they do a great job running the football. Theoretically, it should be harder because there are less blockers, but the spread allows for runners to get the ball in space and the misdirection often confuses the linebackers and corners. Jeff Demps has averaged nearly 8 yard's a carry the past two seasons out of the spread. He would not be nearly as successful in a more traditional running scheme.

While spread backs usually shouldn't be getting 20 carries a game, the 15 times they touch the ball on the ground should usually account for a good average per carry, provided the team is able to pass the ball efficiently. I think the problem with the AI is when the CPU know's what play you are running, and therefore, misdirection and play action becomes irrelevant.

I haven't played the game yet (except on demo) but this is what I've noticed from past games. They just don't accurately simulate the problems that defenses have with spread offenses, in the passing and running game.
