Too Many Dropped Passes?
Is anyone else getting a lot of dropped passes? I swear its as if my receivers are all looking to "run before the catch." I have never had such problems in previous NCAA football installments. Are we supposed to hit the catch button (triangle or Y) now before we try to look down-field?Tags: None -
Re: Too Many Dropped Passes?
Only time my players drop it is when they are being hit. Now if you want to play a game full of drops, do back and play NCAA 2005. NCAA 11 is no where near close to the amount of drops in that game.NCAA: Florida A&M Rattlers
NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars/Cincinnati Bengals
NBA: Orlando Magic
MLB: Atlanta BravesComment

Re: Too Many Dropped Passes?
I find that if you only press the "Y" button to Catch the ball it's usually ok and then after he has full control turbo in whatever direction you like. But if your holding Turbo down "Right Trigger" while your trying to catch the ball he has a lot higher chance of dropping it.
Hope that made sense.Comment

Re: Too Many Dropped Passes?
@Tally, I agree about NCAA05. But unfortunately my receivers are dropping passes even when they are wide open with no contact!
@blazinsmokey, Yes that made sense. I'll give that a try. That is a bad habit of mine that I guess I will have to correct now.Comment

Re: Too Many Dropped Passes?
Yeah, there are a ton of drops this year. I dont have many wide open drops, but receivers do tend to drop the ball a ton if they're hit shortly after the catch.
I think defense is worse though. They drop SO many easy picks. I'd say about 60%. Takes skill right out of the game.
Try adjusting sliders. If you play online, well you're screwed I guess.
You can also set catching to conservative.Originally posted by Kaiser Wilhelmthere should not be ties occurring in the NFL except when neither team wins the game.Comment

Re: Too Many Dropped Passes?
I'm playing on Heisman and I can not tell you how frustrating the drops are to me. I am playing a Dynasty with Army, and I'm in year four with most of my receivers having catch ratings of 75 or better.
There are so many situations late in the game or on big 3rd down plays where I have had receivers WIDE OPEN and they still just drop the ball. It is honestly killing the game for me. Even when I make smart reads on blitzes and throw into the flats to the tailbacks they drop the damn ball.
Consider me frustrated.Comment

Re: Too Many Dropped Passes?
I havent had a huge problem with drops, maybe 1-2 a game. But my problem is with the WR's not "reaching out" or balls. I'm playing RTG while waiting on rosters (getting those trophies and phase of the game done) and it seems whenever i go deep (i play as QB) theres a 50-50 chance of the receiver actually sticking his arms out and trying to catch. Only a couple of times while wide open but when they have a step or 2 on the DB and the ball is right there- it hits them in the back/ helmet/ etc and big yards turn into incomplete passComment

Re: Too Many Dropped Passes?
Can't upping the WR catch slider to 75-80 or higher fix this issue?
I noticed the drops, too. But to me it's only an issue if it affects comp. pct. like that abomination of a game 05 did.
I don't believe it has affected comp. pct. overall (you should be between 60-65 percent, IMO). I've had a few games where I was around 50 percent and a couple where I lit up the D (Mallet). I think I'm around 60 percent for all my games. The problem is, they freaking took out user stats %&$#@!!, making it harder to figure out what sliders need adjusting. It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

Edit: I tried playing a few on the varsity difficulty level and I no longer have these problems. Instead the problem is that its too easy. Balls that could (should?) be dropped are caught and the computer can not do anything. So I guess we have two options: ridiculously easy on Varisty, or too unrealistic on All-American and up.Last edited by ThatShaneGuy; 07-16-2010, 03:13 PM.Comment

Re: Too Many Dropped Passes?
This has happened a lot to me as well. Playing on AA. I thought that it was since I am playing as EMU first year of dynasty and I believe some of my receivers are in the 60's. I know that my RB is horrible, and cannot catch a pass if his life depended on it. I think about 10 drops so far this season.Comment

Re: Too Many Dropped Passes?
I've noticed it is much harder to get receivers open against man coverage than in previous editions, but I haven't noticed excessive dropped passes at all. If you are manually catching your passes but just running through the route and not pressing Y to catch, then that is probably your problem. Do you notice these drops when you let the CPU catch it?
I just played a game as SMU (at home) against Washington State. Zach Line (Starter RB, #48) had 3 dropped passes. Cole Beasely (Slot WR, #11) had 1 dropped pass, and Brett Haness (Starting WR, #26) had 2 dropped passes. A total of six dropped passes in the game. That isn't too bad considering maybe half of them came with heavy contact. But I know at least two of 'em to my RB were when he was sitting wide open in the flat.
Had did my QB (Kyle Padron - 78 OVR) fair? Really odd stats. 17-39 (43%), 459 yards, 3 TDs, 2 INTs, and 3 sacks. I could throw deep like an online cheeser but if it came to a short pass it didn't work. This was on All-American and I had changed the sliders to have 65 QB accuracy and 65 WR Catching.
Interestingly enough, the computer didn't fair any better. Three Washington State QBs went for a combined 18-39 (46%).Comment

Re: Too Many Dropped Passes?
On Heisman difficulty I was getting about 7-8 dropped passes a game and the CPU would drop 1-2. It's beyond frustrating when a wide open receiver drops a pass when no ones within 5 yards of him. Even more frustrating to watch a linemen jump 15 feet to intercept a ball thrown 20 yards downfield the next play. There are a lot of good things about this game but there are some glaring problems.KB24Comment
