Madden fans are really going to miss progressive lighting

Not trying to start anything, b/c I'm a Madden fan, too.

But this game is going to SORELY miss the progressive lighting that is used in NCAA.

I dont give EA alot of props, but it is truly unbelievable. It's like you're playing 4 different games the way it changes after each quarter. The way the helmets look when it's partly cloudy 3:30, and beginning to get darker after halftime or so, and the way the grass looks when it overcast vs when the stadium lights turn on. You really do feel you're playing in the place you're playing in, somehow.

There's a pic thread in the NCAA forum if you want to see.

I just dont understand why EA can't make certain things as mandatory shares between the two games. The games should be seamless transitions from one to the other in many ways. It'd really make the customer want to buy BOTH(if they like cfb and nfl) instead of picking and choosing whichever one has certain core features.

MLB The Show has progressive lighting and I hardly ever notice the changes. As long as the game has realistic shadows I'll be satisfied.

When I take time to notice progressive lighting I say wow, thats pretty neat, but as long as the game has realistic shadows I can live without progressive lighting. Not saying it wouldn't be a nice touch though.

Yeah, the show is pretty subtle unless you're batting, then obviously you can see the sky changing. But there's absolutely ZERO way you can play NCAA and not notice it.

NCAA gives it a run for it money, and is in some way better if you can believe it.

So far, I've only played in one domed stadium on NCAA, and that's Cowboys Stadium....but it is very well lit and nicely done on there. I can only imagine Madden is the same way.

I could really care less about the lighting. It's a nice addition to the NCAA game but, I'm ok with it not being in.

yeah, I agree with others in this thread....please don't add progressive lighting, we don't want it......it hurts my eyes.

                    seriously though...
why are the ones who don't want Madden to progress, the most vocal ones here on operation sports....I wish others would speak up.

if you are a person who cares about a realistic representation of the sport.....progressive lighting is part of that.....

I'm a football gamer who doesn't care about franchise.....but I don't go out of my way to post in a "Madden Franchise" thread to say....we don't need that......because I know that is also part of the big picture in representing the NFL, and it is important for others.

its not like this is a CRAZY new feature that would take sooo much time and take away from developing other aspects of the game.

we have had this before.......and our sister football game has it as well.

Re: Madden fans are really going to miss progressive lighting

The fact that the gameplay in both games is practically identical, the progressive lighting swayed me this year to get NCAA over Madden, a first for me. Even though its only a small thing, its 1 more thing that Madden doesn't have.
If you havn't seen it before then you wouldn't really know and appreciate how nice of an addition it is to a game, even though its not huge, it does make a difference.

even in Madden during the PS2 days it looked oh so good.....you really felt like you were playing a Primetime game......I couldn't wait to get to the second half.

having dynamic weather would also add alot.

Oh definitely, dynamic lighting is the 'next step' if you will. And I certainly wouldn't be surprised, and would be very happy, to see the NCAA team include it next year, providing they keep up the progression that they have made from NCAA 10 to 11.

Once again a big FAIL for Tiburon. Progressive lighting was in NFL 2k5. Also, why isn't it shared code between Madden and NCAA? Embarrassing...

its not code. It's art....you have to build each stadium for each phase of the setting sun (this is how MLB the show DEV's described it anyway).

2k system was good on that gen of systems, but seeing how good SONY does it with this gen it needs more 'love' if you will
