    Safety on holding call?

I'm playing a Dynasty game, week 2 in year one, Army (me) versus Hawai'i. I pin them on their 3 with a great punt, and first play they get a nice pass called back on a holding penalty. If I accept the penalty, I'm awarded a safety. Why is that?

Because the game is broke, it sounds like.

That's the rule, if there's a holding call while the QB is in the endzone it results in a safety

Football rules state that if a penalty goes against the offense in their own endzone, its a safety. Nothing is broken. I'm actually surprised they got that right.

          This.

Happened last year when UNC and UConn played. UConn basically gave that game away even though UNC's offense was inept.

Any penalty (by the offense) that occurs in the endzone is an automatic safety. Take it as fact - I've been a college football official in the northeast for 3 years. I'm actually really surprised that the developers got it right.

I wish they would implement the block in the back penalty - which is only 10 yards. The clipping penalty is garbage. We, as officials, hardly ever see clipping. In fact, in my 10 year career (high school and college), I have never had to call clipping. But block in the back happens very frequently.

It has nothing to do with the QB in the endzone.

                I just learned something.

So, if the lineman called for the holding was on the 1 yard line, it wouldn't be a safety, correct? But it is a safety because the lineman called was in the endzone while holding, correct?

                  You are correct.

So be easy on the officials when watching a game.

It's usually the announcers that get the college rules wrong - because all they usually watch is the NFL, which has it's own set of rules. Sometimes I have to watch a game with the volume muted because the commentary is so brutal.

Just when the penalty occurs in the endzone then? That's just how it was explained to me 10 years ago when I was wee little 11 year old. Also general question what is clipping exactly? All I know is its something more than a block in the back, is it like somehow cut/chop blocking from the side or behind?

Ah wow. I never knew that, and I've been around football for a good amount of time. I just didn't want to be taking 2 cheap points (although, as Army, I guess I should take what I can get).

I'm fairly certain that clipping is block in the back below the waste.

Clipping = 15 yards ....initial contact occurs behind the back and BELOW the waist....You will hardly ever see it actually happen.

back in my madden days......... 24-23 Colts (cpu) leading the Giants (me) with about 5 seconds left. I had just scored a field goal and kicked it off. with about 1 second left the colts have the ball on the 1 yard line (not enough room to knee). so peyton manning decides to pass but I pressure and force him to throw it away. game over. or atleast i thought it was. Peyton gets slammed with an intentional grounding call giving me the victory. i went wild.

Isn't chop blocking allowed in the trenches (LoS) though? I played HS football in NY, and I know that ANY block below the knees is illegal, except on the LoS, and penalized 15 yards. But I'm not sure how different it is from state to state.
