Obviously if you are a bigger NFL fan then get Madden, but if you are neutral then NCAA seems to be more fun for me. The progression issue is somewhat major though in that game, and is the only reason I can't fully recommend it. Don't know if it will be fixed by a patch.

It's not hard at ALL to use the strategy pad once you get the feel of it. It's more realistic that pushing Y, LB, RB and the directions of the sticks to control what people do. The LB that reads the plays doesn't change 6 specific player's roles. He might tell the LBs to blitz or completely audible the play. But he would never tell each individual what to do after the play is called. It's so simple, and if that ruins the Madden experience than that's your loss. I love the game, it's realistic for the most part (all madden tests my patience) I finally won my first all-madden game about 15 minutes ago. Very realistic stats. The DEMO excites me and is so fun to me, jeez I can't wait til the full game! ! ! Franchise with the Eagles
Makes me jump up and down inside lol. I wouldn't judge the game off of the demo nor the strategy pad FYI it's not the full game and who knows maybe the pad is just a BETA test or something lol.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here
Just some of the expectations people make overall.. like fix warping, morphing , players looking like they are skating, some animations etc. gameplay wise thats what Im refering to its almost like people dont know that this is madden not 2k two different gaming companys with different engines and what not, ya know? strategy pad?? I really dont care for it though so whatever..can you please be specific and quote who are you referring to? This makes you no better then the people you are bashing. Did you play the demo?
for me personally, i don't think asking for what we've already had from the madden franchise is a 'crazy unrealistic' expectation. I've been more than optimistic and supportive over the years. This has been my first year coming to grips with the fact that we are getting a, for lack of a better word, lazy, entitled, and uninspired effort in madden 2011. I will play the full version before i say anything else but i don't think it's fair to compare this game to NCAA yet. it's a demo.
The strategy pad thing is really hampering my 'expectations' for now.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here
I posted a long blog on my impressions of M11 Demo after a couple of games.
http://www.operationsports.com/Valda...mo-impression/
Feel free to read the whole thing for explanations of my Summary.
Summary
I dislike GameFlow, dislike the Strategy Pad, and dislike that new offensive coordinator audio. Locomotion has sliding when players stand still (as in my kick return), improper stride lengths, and sliding on nearly all toe down animations when starting/stopping. Gus Johnson is a great commentator who improves Madden's commentary, but commentary remains subpar due to lack of banter between Gus and Chris who feel as though they are in separate zip codes. Run blocking is improved, but not fixed completely. Madden 11 doesn't feel like a step forward at all, especially after playing NCAA 2011 which I feel is easily the better game this year. Instead it feels like what Madden 10 should have been gameplay wise, with a lot of unnecessary things added to the game that provide no value for this gamer.Comment

Yeah, it took me about 20 minutes to download this badboy and I don't have the fastest connection in the world. So far, not too bad. NCAA is def. feeling better control wise but I realize this is just a Demo so the retail copy should be better.Last edited by servom999; 07-27-2010, 08:38 PM.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here
I for one like gameflow, in real NFL games there's only about 5-10 plays for each situation, as opposed to hundreds. That's about the only thing I really enjoyed about this demo, as others have said, the running feels a bit sluggish. I found D-line moves to be pretty simple using the right stick and all, which I enjoy. But uhmm, this game is a case of hit or miss, some will like it, some won't, I don't really see a step-up from Madden 10 to be quite honest, though.Comment

I didn't try the strategy pad enough to see if it controls all players or just one, but if it's only one then that is disappointing. In the end it is still a videogame, and more control is usually betterIt's not hard at ALL to use the strategy pad once you get the feel of it. It's more realistic that pushing Y, LB, RB and the directions of the sticks to control what people do. The LB that reads the plays doesn't change 6 specific player's roles. Also I do not feel it is acceptable or fair to Madden to compare the two games. Madden has always been leaps and bounds over NCAA and it is easier to tell when NCAA gets better because there is so much improvement needed in that series. I played college, to me it's still the same type of game. Bad pass rush this year as well oh gosh! The tackling isn't as good as Madden. You have to realize everything college does they take it from Madden pretty much. College immobile QBs breaking off of my LBs, CPU throwing hail marys and someone comming down with it in 2x 3x coverage. There are plenty of knocks. Another reason I think Madden is better because today Maddens DEMO came out, and there are more people in this thread than college and their FULL game is out. Madden has always been great, fun, and exciting. Just because College stepped up their awful game doesn't mean it's comparable. At least not in my eyes.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here
Other than the animation stuff I'm tired of seeing the game was pretty cool. Hopefully they keep getting the gameplanning stuff deeper and deeper. I've had zero problems using the strategy pad once I got familiar with the location of items. So much drama on such a minor change yet someone said it was Madden that's Being dumbed down.
Overal about what I expected out of the demo. Nothing earth shattering but enjoyable.Joshua:

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here
Yea the NBA 2K series is a great example...yea I totally understand your point too..I guess we have to look at the developers then but then again like your point is implying they arent listeningI want to start off by saying I totally understand your point. What with the NBA 2k series starting to blur together year after year. But I think your going about it wrong.
I think the issue many folks have with Madden/NCAA is that the improvements asked for take years to be implemented (sometimes not at all) and we are constantly given things we NEVER asked for. There's that, and things from past gen getting shafted from this gen that eventually get passed off as new (see Locomotion).Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here
Overall, this demo is flat out disappointing.
- The commentary seems like it's just pasted in there at weird times. Just a lot of odd silence here and there. The crowd also just goes quiet for some strange reason every so often.
- The D-pad thing is definitely annoying. Not sure about a game killer just yet. I still don't see the reason why they changed it.
- Gameflow just adds nothing to the game for me. Maybe it would if I was playing in a dynasty and I knew my playbook inside out. But, I don't think this is something that's exciting right off the bad.
- The whole coaches talking at the beginning of the play thing...just annoying and needs to be turned off. Another feature that adds nothing to the game.
- Locomotion??? Where is it? Seriously, I've been playing NCAA non-stop since it released and I know what Locomotion is. But the way it is implemented in Madden, still makes it look like a bunch of canned animations. The game still isn't smooth IMO.
Overall, this demo is just boring. I don't know how else to say it. There's no need to wait until the final product is released. We already know they have done nothing to franchise mode and I don't see one thing from this demo that even makes me want to play it again.Comment

Do you realize what you are saying? Did you see all the upgrades that NCAA put in its development cycle, and all the lack of upgrades in Madden? Somethings not right here......Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here
Curious is anyone knows this answer ...
Who the hell is Gus Johnson and what NFL network does he announce games for?
I've heard his voice in basketball, but not in Pro Football.
Does he do NFL games?
If not, why would EA hire him?
P.S.- about the demo ... I don't like how far back the camera goes on defense on pass plays. It's futher back than NCAA and almost impossible to defend the pass.Comment
