One thing I like is that although both Madden and NCAA has some similar feel to each other, they still feel a little different. I can see myself alternating between these two games until next year this time (I usually sell both around January). This is the year I have been waiting for, for a very long time.
People just love to bitch, that's all. Some guys do have legit beefs with the game and I understand that but it's the other guys that just post nonsense without explaining because it's "cool" to hate on Madden.

    Case in point, this guy.....

There's some good and some bad but overall the game is fun. Should go well with NCAA
As long as you're having fun that's all that matters

After playing the NCAA demo, I was like, "WOW," after playing the Madden demo, Im like, "What the hell," it just seems so boring and no fun at all. I was looking forward to gameflow but Im truly disappointed with it along with the commentating. Looks like the only EA football game I'll playing this year is NCAA.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here

Played a few games of the demo, after all the posts today i was expecting to not like it. On the contrary I absolutely loved the game play, as to what we're getting in the whole package I am still disappointed but game play wise it felt really..REALLY good. The fact that once the game starts you can pause, change the game speed and adjust the CPU sliders makes a big difference.

          1. Passing Game: This felt much better then ever before. The catching animations are superb, NCAA's are good, but these are better. I saw some catches that made me go WOW in a good way. Being able to put touch on the ball is a great feeling, I had 3rd and goal from the 7, I hit Crotchery (sp?) in the back of the end zone by putting it over a LB's head. He jumped and missed it (in 10 that's a pick) the WR went up caught it, came down with his feet together keeping them in bounds and falling down. It looked so real I actually shouted Great Catch!

I had another one where I tried to hit a deep comeback on the side line, I got the ball in between 2 defenders and the WR made a one handed grab coming back and got his feet in. The footwork on curls and what not is outstanding.

          2. Running Game: The running game was really easy, then I went in and bumped the cpu rush defense and tackling to 60 and not so easy anymore (placebo...maybe?). It feels as good as NCAA to me.

          3. Sounds - This addition is going to be great. The demo is really behind in the sound and you can tell because it cuts out and what not. But the limited music they play is a great addition, the J-E-T-S chant by the crowd is awesome, even little things like whistles..I mean I don't recall that kind of atmospheric sound before. Gus Johnson is going to be a take it or leave it, personally I love him.... "Be a man..MAN!"

          4. Game Flow - I haven't taken the time to make a game plan yet. But the two teams sure seem to play like the Colts and Jets. I didn't see any really odd calls at all, I didn't see the same play called multiple times in a row either. I think their is potential here but I am not entirely sold, I will say playing this way makes the game feel better in terms of presentation. I don't like how I can't see what sets the cpu is in offensively, I don't like that I don't know my play until I break the huddle. But a simple X Press gets you the play book and you can turn it off. I'm 50/50 on this feature.

          5. Locomotion - It feels different then NCAA, I don't know how to put this. NCAA feels more loose, more wide open. Madden feels heavy, more plodding and frankly I liked it a bit better.

          6. Animations - Some really great new animations, I mean I love that you can go to replay in the demo because you can see all sorts of good stuff happening, I must have watched a guy spin out of a hit stick tackle 20 times because it looekd so good.

          7. Camera Angle - Not crazy about it after playing NCAA, I mean really no multiple angles again?

          8. Challenges - I don't know if these are fixed or not, but the way the do them now with cut scenes and replays is 100 times better. Love the tr-screen look and Jepoardy music.

          9. Strategy Pad - I'll tell you that after about a dozen games this should be second nature and you know what it is better IMO.

I am one of the people who couldn't remember all those combos and if you could you had a great advantage. SP makes it easier to know what you're doing and makes it take just a tad longer which should really cut down on the guys who Hot route everything.

Hot routing and adjustments should be about the chess match of coaching, by making it a tad slower you are making your opponent choose what to combat most. I mean seriously I know guys in 10 who can adjust the line, LB's, coverage and assign 3 individual hot routes beofre I snap...how is that realistic?

Anyway while I am still disappointed in the overall package we will be getting, I definitely like the game play and atmosphere changes. I was expecting to be disappointed and I came away wanting to buy the full game again.

Heads up for those curious - there is a broadcast camera in the Madden 11 demo. You just can't play with it because you can't change the angle during the game.

It shows up when you just let the game run after starting the demo. Soon a CPU vs CPU game will load up, and you'll see the broadcast cam.

It's pretty much the same angle as last year, as far as I can tell.

I'm not actually going to be playing it until later on - I just can't pull myself away from Starcraft II right now.

Played demo today on my ps3.(have not downloaded on 360 yet)

I really thought gus was okay. I also liked some of the sideline catches.

The coach in the headset makes me think of driver on ps1 or somthing like that. The guy sounds like a wannabe kiper or somthing corny.

This is a no buy from me the first time in about 7 years. To me ncaa is not perfect but better for my cash. I really like the feel of the NFL better though. I get sick of ncaa's grating drums after first downs.

With madden the tackles and also the running is horrible to me. This is just not a good game. It's just so boring to play somtimes.

                  the demo felt okay.
the kicking meter reminded me of NFL blitz the arcade game.
NCAA 11 demo had a little wow factor while madden 11 is stale regarding presenation.
I wish Madden could use the espn intergration like NCAA.

i can understand why you would be suprised. outside of strat pad, madden 11 is outstanding. AFTER the ball is snapped, i absolutely love the game. but strat pad ruins it for me.

if strat pad doesnt bother you, i can see why you'd love the game.

as far as NCAA, im a big fan

Off top, I've been a 2k5/2k8 guy forever. I would debate anybody on how 2k8 is better than Madden 10. This year I finally can say I see an enjoyable game that, while not close to perfect by any means is the nearest thing to 'sim football' this gen. Little things like the running animations, the lighting, the footwork and acceleration that kept 2k ahead of Madden have finnaly been done well by EA. I played the demo this morning and saw a lot of what I loved about 2k in this game, which is a great compliment to this years edition. I fully expect the retail version to be the best football game this gen.

Ok a good and a bad:

                        Good.
I've yet to see a LB super jump so don't understand the complaining of that. Here's a quick (IPhone) vid of a LB ,that if super jump was there, would have batted it. Not saying it doesn't happen..just that I haven't seen it bad yet.

                        <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HC7cgTUntF0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HC7cgTUntF0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Bad: I thought we were supposed to be close to the "If the DB isn't looking at the direction of the play, he won't make a play"..etc...etc...
This is really irritating and hopefully better in retail.

I'm only buying one football game this year, so I held off on NCAA until I could play the Madden demo. With all the praise for NCAA and hatred toward Madden, I was starting to wonder if I should have just bought NCAA on release day.

After some more time with both demos tonight, I'm feeling good about my Madden preorder. As I said earlier, NCAA made a bigger jump from 10 to 11, but it had further to go. It didn't quite catch Madden, IMHO.
