My score for Madden 13: 4.5/10
3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway. -
Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here
i will say that both of my games were very exciting. especially the last one while playing as the colts. i was up by 18-7 in the fourth. braylon edwards shrugged off a hit stick and took it to the house. very next play and about a minute left, i get cute and try a slip screen to my hb. pressured, the ball was tipped, and picked off for six the other way. with about 35 seconds left, i take a 12 yard chunk out of an 80 yard drive. then i hook up with dallas clark down the right sideline with 2 other defenders near him. with six second left, i roll out to my left from the 15, and fire a prayer to clark who is a yard and a half inside the endzone. caught, but he was hit as he caught it, which drove him back. luckily, his feet remained right on the goal line as he and the defender slammed into the turf. very exciting win.
minor demo bugs and degraded graphics on the replays (ps3 version at least) aside, i am loving this demo. it is really smooth, and has some life thanks to the new commentary and cut scenes. i already know from watching retail footage that the audio only gets better.
this is only 2 games in, so i'll see how it holds up in 10 or 12 games. but so far, i'm really liking it.Last edited by blklightning; 07-28-2010, 06:26 AM.My score for Madden 13: 4.5/10

Lol, having the coordinator talk through the headset is pretty cool, not gonna lie.
Anyway, really liking the demo, feels improved over last year which I really enjoyed.
I do agree with the strategy pad sentiments though. I think the idea was good in theory, but it sucks having to do so many steps just to shift my oline, for example. Regardless, I'm excited.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here
Maybe Im in the minority here but I just am no longer dazzled by the Madden game anymore...and its been a compounded effect since the last several versions.
There really is nothing inherently wrong with Madden 11, but after playing it, I was just left with the feeling that I have been doing this over and over for the last few years now with no major changes to the core engine....just new tweaks.
Maybe for most thats not a bad thing at all, but for me, I think I am craving something a little more viceral, immersive and intense....or maybe I just need to see a new engine. It just feels too much like Madden from the last year, which was like Madden from the previous year and so on. I dont think I am going to buy it this year....Its just not 'better' enough for me.
I think NCAA actually took the bigger leap this year in regards to improvements from the previous season. At least for me it feels that way. I think also a piece of me has been spoiled for something new and more physics based since playing BackBreaker.
I wont argue that is not better than Madden 10 because it is...but it just isnt improved enough for me to want to go out and buy the 11 version. Especially since I am enjoying NCAA 11 this year as much as I am
Im really hoping the EA Madden team has another programming team working in parallel in sort of a research and development phase actually building, testing and tweaking a more advanced football engine so that they can eventually release it because I just think the public expects more now. And if they dont have this in the works, it would seem almost impossible that one team can ever introduce a completely new engine in just a year's development cycle. And I think EA really does need to develop a new physics based engine that leaves behind all the pre motion captured animations.Comment

Oh, BTW, leaving an empty hole in the commentary for gameflow audio was a dreadful decision. If you choose to not use gameflow and subsequently turn off the coaches talking, you can easily go 30 seconds sometimes without hearing commentary.
That's.... Well, thats just pretty bad lol.Comment

I played a drive or two this morning, first chance I've had, and I don't see much of a difference between Madden 10 and 11.
I like that kickoffs don't always end up out at the 30 yard line.
Crowd noise seems non existent then it comes on, and goes back off. Like the crowd is hushing when the announcer is talking which obviously doesnt happen.
Visually the game looks fine, the animations look a bit better.
I think I'm going to really like gameflow and gameplanning. That is the biggest upgrade for me this year. I've heard that it can call some ******** plays in 2 min drill situations and towards the end of the game. Calling run plays when time is running out etc. That might kill it for me but I may just have to switch to calling plays in those situations.
We're probably just getting a bit more refined Madden 10 this year, which overall isn't a bad thing since Madden 10 was a good game, but it makes me wonder what they spent their time doing this year (probably working on next years game).GamerTag: Blazzen85

I barely made it through one game of the madden 11 demo. The strategy pad, commentary, just felt annoying and took away from the fun of just playing football. The overall feel of the game feels stale. I think i may end up just getting ncaa 11 instead.Comment

Yeah I had a WR that got a huge amount of seperation. Cool thing is I also seen the AI blow some coverages.Play Action is an automatic sack. The OTs just watch the DEs go by sometimes.
Not true.. in fact look a few pages back at vid.
Strategy Pad is driving me nuts. Why should I have to press more buttons to get the same result as past games?
It's actually faster for me to use than the old way BUT it should be an option.
I think I'm gonna end up using Gameplan, but not Gameflow. LOVE the idea of setting up gameplans, but I want to call my own plays.
I'll probably do a Gameflow OF for fun. LOVE gameplanning as it's really a part of football. and when you have a reduced amount of plays to use it makes the gameplan even more important.
I'm creating a ridiculous amount of separation on out routes sometimes. The CB either warps away from the WR or sometimes he turns and runs like it's going to be a go route. That creates way too much separation.
Overal I'm having fun.Joshua:

Players working the sidelines finally seems to work
Gameflow-I think it adds some strategy to Madden
Kicking meter better but still behind 2k
Locomotion or whatever is making the running game smoother
Dislikes...
Still feels like Madden
Camera needs to be zoomed in ala 2k. Especially on running plays against CPU or online.
Overall not bad at all. I enjoyed M10 for the first time on this Gen of consoles and since M11 feels like a really good patch was added, I hope I enjoy this year as well. That being said, I can't wait until a football game draws me in like MLB the Show or NFL 2K5.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here
I played a couple of games last night one as the Jets and one as the Colts. I actually enjoyed it but didn't see much differend from Madden 10 except some of the obvious things (commentary, gameflow, gameplan, animations).
The stratgey pad is defintiely going to take some time to get use to but once I do I think it will be better in the long run.
I have been getting Madden since the early-mid 90s so this year will be no different. I'm looking forward to it!PSN & Xbox Gamertag - TheCrenshaw

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here
My personal feeling is that most of the negative viewpoints towards the game are coming from people who aren't giving the game a chance. By all means that is their every right.
Example: Strategy Pad. Honestly there is nothing wrong with it @ all other than its different. Immediately people want to discount the game because they aren't used to it and soon we have mountains out of mole hills. I'm not saying anyone is wrong for feeling how they feel, but play about 4 or 5 full games and i think you'll find its pretty darn good.Comment

yeah, if you turn off coaches talking, there is dead space not only in the commentary but the crowd audio as well. I mean it is just completely silent.Oh, BTW, leaving an empty hole in the commentary for gamespot audio was a dreadful decision. If you choose to not use gamespot and subsequently turn off the coaches talking, you can easily go 30 seconds sometimes without hearing commentary.

i dont know what the madden haters are talking about this is a SOLID game to ME it plays better than ncaa 11 you dont have the missed open field tackles like ncaa you dont have a guy breaking 4-5 tackles to go for a td. the wr actually get open and dont have the db in his pocket. it just feals more like football from the presentation to the game play. as for the d pad it just takes some getting use to it was hard for me at 1st but since i got it down its not a problem. if you have not played it, it says that it is a work in progress so that means the final game will only be better. for u haters nobody is making you buy the game if you dont like it dont buy it and why are u wasting time and energy talking about it. for those that have not played the demo i suggest you play it and see for yourself dont listen to the haters cause they are the kind of people that wont like the game no matter what EA does. SOLID game good job EAComment
