Broken Sticks
How many ways can we break and lose sticks in NHL 11? I know we can break them on shots and lose them on big hits but will stick be broken by slashes from opposing players? It would be nice to see a player get called for tomahawking another player's stick.Tags: None -
Re: Broken Sticks
Pretty sure sticks can break on slashes. I know for sure they can also break on deflections.
Also they can break in three places, the blade, and two parts of the shaft.EA SPORTS Game Changer

Re: Broken Sticks
I would imagine. I just hope the stick breaking isn't overdone, although it does happen quite often in real life, I just don't want to see it be something happening various times a game.DDPR - Xbox Live GamertagComment

Re: Broken Sticks
It has been stated that there is a slider for broken stick frequency. I had the same concern as you until I read that. Also, broken sticks happen
more often than a lot of people realize. There's at least 2 or 3 per game if not more.Comment

Re: Broken Sticks
Well, in retrospect, they aren't being called for "Breaking the Stick", they're being called for "Slashing". A slash is a slash, be it on the leg, arm, stick or anything else. The fact that a player breaks another player's stick with a slash just exemplifies the viewpoint of "wow, that was a pretty hard slash", thus triggering the ref to call it.
Mind you, I've seen times when someone slashes a player's stick, the stick breaks, and there's still no call...Comment

I wish we could grab the stick of an opposing player if our stick gets broken (ala Eric Lindros).Comment

Re: Broken Sticks
Not with composite sticks, they're insanely delicate, I've broken two on faceoffs. I mean sure, for those of us that have to pay for them it really is a piss off but even so, it really shouldn't be a penalty.
On topic: hopefully stick breaking will be as random as the hitting seems to be, and I can't see why it wouldn't be.Comment

Re: Broken Sticks
I think a penalty for stick on stick contact is ridiculous. Don't want your stick to break? Use a man's stick. (i know i know we're never going back to wood
