    Re: Patch imminent..?

I agreee 100%, they fault lies within the generated recruits, not the progress of the recruits. The recruits ae coming in too low. I am not advocating for a team of 99's, but when 4 star DE's come in at 63 ovr, then something is terribly wrong.

im not sure i agree with the last post. The lower rated recruits are primarily low due to low AWR not overall stats.I would think mid season progression,if it were added back would help a ton

I really miss in-season progression. Not only because of the realism issue but because it made you feel really connected with what you were doing on the field. It was great to see guys on my bench get some AWR points simply because I snuck them in on the 2nd team for some blowouts. And yes, it would be cool to see AWR advancing more as a cumulative thing, based on how often they get into games.

But simple progression chances can't fix this problem. Not when skill attributes like kicking power start off near the minimum for players who are supposed to SPECIALIZE in that skill. The recruits are being generated incorrectly, and I really believe they could fix it.

Seriously, I don't understand why they removed it (or reduced it according to some, but I haven't seen it at all). In season progression was great.

so create a game and wait for tens of thousands of beta testers to give feed back for free, then release? not sure that is fiscally sound.

Exactly. This isn't a progression problem, it is a generated recruit problem. It seems everyone is complaining about the wrong thing or just calling it the wrong thing.

If EA can't fix the problem with the generated recruits then they will have to give progression a boost. There will still be a big gap in ratings between the guys on the default rosters and the recruits.

I don't mind a gap if allows for competitive playing down the line. Sure you'll always have "Bad teams", but the way the team ratings looked after simming a few years was horrible. Teams like an Alabama, Texas, Penn State should still retain that A-B rating and be bringing in high end recruits.

It's because there are differing opinions about exactly what the problem is. Lots of people think recruits coming in with mostly low awareness is fine, for example, but they should have the ability to progress to a decent rating and they don't. If their awareness is in the 40-50 range, it will never exceed 65 or so.

These are the known problem areas, though there are probably more:

                  - Awareness is too low and/or doesn't progress enough for almost all positions.
                  - Elusiveness, spin, and juke ratings are too low for wide receivers.
                  - Kick power and accuracy are too low for kickers.
                  - Overall ratings are down for all positions, though fixing the above three items might help enough to fix that.

I would argue that #2 and #3 are both about the incoming recruits being rated too low. Those aren't stats that need to progress a ton throughout a player's career, they just need to be higher than absolutely terrible to begin with. #1 could be a problem with both the new recruits AND the progression, or you could make a case for just one or the other. #4 is really the great unknown, because lots of small variables come into play. If fixing 1-3 doesn't fix #4, then EA needs to do tweaking in other skill stats, and that could mean bumping up new recruit ratings or making them progress a little more. I'm not opposed to a combined solution - I see logic in most of the arguments I've read. But the trick is implementing it so that they hit a very small sweet spot, and don't over-correct and go back to the old rosters full of 15 A+ teams.

you hit the nail on the head.

what i can't believe they still do not get is there are some players that have hyper good skills right out of high school, but low awareness... but also some not so skilled players, but "football smart" players... wish they could strike the right balance.

in fact i think having a recruit that is limited on skill/physical side, but has huge awareness is something missing. smart football players that get to the college level because of their noodle, but would never make the League.
